2023.06.04 00:18 currentlyatw0rk Breaker flipping question
Hi I’m in an apartment where everything is a pain in the ass to get things fixed. This isn’t something I could even fix on my own but I’m wondering if this is an issue worth pressing with my management.
My entire living room keeps losing power but I haven’t changed anything on that circuit at all. Lived here 4 years now and all of the sudden it’s just having problems staying on. I’m running a portable air conditioner on it but I’ve turned everything off except for the AC. There was only a TV on before anyways. Not sure if it’s worth mentioning but I’ve been running this AC unit in the same spot for 3 years now without issue. Was I just lucky?

2023.06.03 23:07 pharkas257 Deck tiles over cracked concrete patio
I am considering rehabing my 400 sq ft concrete patio by covering it with composite deck tiles. The concrete is cracked in many places which has created uneven edges (differences in height on either side of the cracks). The largest is about 1" as shown in the picture.
Before laying down deck tiles, what would be the best way to address the uneven surface? Would it be OK to just lay down some gravel around some of the lower spots? I am not really concerned about looks given that it would be covered; I just want a relatively flat surface.

2023.06.03 23:03 pamaxwell Need help identifying a maneuver
So today we were playing a session and another player used a maneuver that allowed her to move and add a die to her AC until her next turn. On her sheet she has Fancy ft wrote down, I looked it up on the website and it only has evasive foot work that allows you add to your ac as you move and ends after you stop. Was it removed or has she wrote it down wrong?

2023.06.03 22:43 mufugginmanny Lawn Care Salad Bar
Hello,
Any of you other nuts in North Carolina? I just purchased a home in Moyock. Naturally, the first thing I'm gonna do is scope out the yard to see what's there. I looked hard and found what looked like St Augustine in the front and back, but I had to dig around quite a bit to pull some stolons. There were a bunch of other weeds that I can't identify, along with dallisgrass and of course a little bit of wild Bermuda. I've had a Bermuda lawn before and it doesn't bother me, but I've recently been working with fescue and I love it.
Now on to my question. Has anyone done a complete renovation of a NC lawn and planted tall fescue with good success? Did you include other grasses like KBG or PRG? I'm thinking about using Scott's Southern Gold since I've had decent luck with it before. I know a lot of people go with GCI or Black Beauty, but I can't be the only lawn weirdo going with a cool season grass down here. I have about 5k sq ft of total yard measuring with the YM app. I appreciate the help.

Link:
https://imgur.com/a/CtV3Wkl I tried to cover everything but please let me know what you think and feel free to ask questions!
Background: My father owns a small flooring company and I would help him with jobs when I was a kid. I have some basic knowledge on flooring due to my past experiences but not enough to be considered above average. My partner was recently in the market looking for a house and stumbled upon a 98 year old house in a “up and coming” neighborhood. When we attended the open house the first thing I noticed was how beat up and faded the floors were. Of course, given my upbringing, I’m more sensitive to conditions of flooring. The finish was well beyond its life, you could see the high traffic routes due to the wear and tear, previous botched attempts to spot stain and fix little areas were obvious, some rooms were sun stained and different tents due to having carpet cover them for years, and various deep scratches. Yes it was rough but I knew there was potential. We didn’t have the budget to completely strip, stain, and seal the whole house so we decided to go a simpler and much cheaper route that still made a drastic difference.
Project: I borrowed a Square Buff Floor Sander from father but you can rent one from Home Depot ($75 a day). I purchased a box of 120 grit screen sheets ($40). Started with slowly hitting every square inch I could in each room to break down the old sealer and buff out stains and scratches. Swept up after every round. I did three rounds of all the rooms then a fourth round of high traffic areas and other spots I thought was needed. Next I used a 1.2 Amp CorneDetail Sander ($25) with 100 grit sandpaper ($14 pack) (note: I used 100 instead of 120 because edges and next to walls were a bit rough). I did several rounds on all the edges and other spots the big sander couldn’t hit till it blended with the rest of the floor. Once the sanding was done I swept and vacuumed everything up. Next, I grabbed wide broom and soaked a towel in water and hit the whole floor. Typically would have to rinse the towel after each room. Did three rounds and the floor was prepped for the sealer. It took two gallons of Minwax Clear Semi-Gloss Oil-Based Polyurethane ($50 ea). Went with the water based because it’s easiest to apply and self leveling. Applied just one coat but some floors need two coats. Once applied we waited 24 hours and the pics were taken about 30 hours after completion showing the end result. The working area was about 700~ sq ft. Project took 4 days to complete but could be done in 2 if free all day and night.

2023.06.03 22:04 snowball_van Do you pay for premium/business outright or buy economy and bid?
Recent experience told me that buying premium economy (and for that same reason, business class) outright has a risk. My flight from Barcelona to Vancouver (through Calgary) was cancelled because of the never happened strike. I bought premium outright. WJ rebooked me on AC economy. The downgrade refund was not even $700 for that segment. When I booked it the difference was about $1.1K. It made me think I'd rather bid for upgrade unless I really felt I "have" to get premium/business.

I'm knee-deep planning a backyard workshop build. I want it to fit primarily woodworking, some repair work, and maybe some future unknowns. Regulations limit me to a 200 SqFt footprint and 15 ft building height. I'm exploring a 12’x16’8”, 10'x20', and may explore other building footprints. Building sizing and layout is my first and current primary concern.
If you want to dive deep here are some more resources,

2023.06.03 21:35 Budget-Detective9917 Utilities cost
Hi everyone. Looking to rent a 3 bedroom 1 bath home in LA county (around pasadena). (House has a pool and garden.) Owner is saying utilities will cost about $700 a month. I would be the only one in the home, don’t cook, don’t use heater, would use AC few hours a day at night when it gets hot soon, and overall conserve water and electricity (very mindful about conservation). I’m thinking $700 is excessive; plus is it normal to charge tenant for water bill when most is for pool and garden?I’m asking for a break down of utilities from owner before I commit. Just looking to see what others in that area pay for an average sized single family home. Thanks!

2023.06.03 21:34 NasKar9 New Home Plan Questions
Currently I have a pfsense router and a TrueNAS Core server running Unifi controller software for 2 Unifi APs (AC-LR and AC-Pro). My switches are multiple 8 port smart switches from netgear and TP Link. Like have multiple VLANs for guest and IOTs
I planning to move to new construction ~3000 sq ft home and want to plan the setup.
1) Can the AP be placed in a cabinet to hide them or do they need to be mounted on a ceiling? 2) The networking cables come in a plastic wall mounted cabinet with an electrical outlet but if narrow in the laundry room. I'm considering converting to a wall mount rack to place the network equipment. 3) The TrueNAS is in a 3U server case that makes a lot of noise. Is there a way to mount it on the wall or is it too heavy and warm in the laundry room. 4) Equipment potential: 3 AC-Pro,1 AC-LR, USW Pro 24 POE, 3 G4 Bullet cameras, G4 doorbell Pro, UNVR 5) How would the UNVR with G4 Bullet camera and doorbell G4Pro compare to a ring system?
Any other thoughts would be great.

2023.06.03 21:11 InspiredTechy EERO 6+ 3 unit mesh upload speeds 0.3-5 MBPs :(
As I was getting Verizon Fios I thought it would be time to upgrade my old ASUS TM-AC1900 router with a EERO 6+ 3 unit mesh from Best Buy.
My Verizon Fios is 300MBps up/down which I confirmed by connecting my laptop directly into the modem and speedtest.
The EERO system has not been giving me more than 0.5-2 MBPs on the phone and 2-5 MBps on the laptop. This has led to dropped videoconference calls, upload attachments to e-mails taking minutes to upload, gaming lag and dropped wifi calls.
The Download speed is fine at 300 MBps. I called EERO support several times, they tried custom DNS, multiple resets (every time I reset, I loose my wifi calling connecting and on returning to support end up with a different support person, having to start the process all over again). I have done over 30 speed tests on different devices for the support team and there has been no positive outcome. Packet loss has been as high as 49%. Devices are as far apart as possible. This is a two story house, the main access is in the basement, the second in the garage, the third in the attic, all about 30 feet apart (2400 sq. ft house).
Does anyone have any suggestions? I just plugged in my old TM-AC1900 and immediately all my devices are getting a proper 300 MBps on the 5G channel. It's an EERO mesh issue for sure.
Is my device faulty?

2023.06.03 21:09 Select_Honeydew_3223 How to address my boyfriend's room cleanliness
Me (21f) and my bf (23m) have been together for 4 years. we both live at home and have frequent sleepovers at each others houses. He started actually taking care of his room when we started dating and would always have it clean for me when i came over as I do for him to this day. Lately, things have been changing for the worse and I really need outside opinions on how I should go about this. His room used to be upstairs, then he moved into the basement bedroom. To simply describe this room, its like a dark musty cave. From first glance everything looks fine, nothing is on the (CARPET) floor besides the pile of clean clothes in the corner that sits there for months on end. One time I folded this pile for him, and the clothes were all stale and musty smelling, and some of them even felt wet. Any clean feeling his room had got ruined in 2021 summer. He had a portable AC in his room. This ACs pump/drain was unknowingly not working and was slowly leaking water onto his carpet for probably months. His solution was to just throw towels down to "dry the carpet" but then would leave the wet towels on the floor for weeks at a time. He also put a literal gallon bucket under the drain to catch the water which also over flowed and spilled several times. He finally got a new AC now which is better. But he never did anything about his carpet. I can only imagine the fucking mold that grew under there and under his bed. He is aware his carpet is probably nasty and there was a plan in place with his parents to rip it up and put fake wood flooring down but that never happened. He also never vacuums. Also those clothes that i mentioned that felt wet were probably absorbing any moisture left in the rug as they are in the same spot as the leak. Also, he hasn't cleaned the dust filter in this AC since he got his almost 2 years ago and theres a thick layer that I noticed. He also leaves garbage and dirty dishes and wrappers in his room until I come over, then he cleans it up. He even tells me to wait outside his room sometimes cuz its so nasty he needs to clean it quick before I see it. He also somehow loses pillow cases and then never replaces them and just sleeps straight on the pillow. His family told me when he was younger he didn't have sheets on his bed for months and just slept straight on the mattress. At this point im getting grossed out even going there. I keep my room clean and would never let mine get like his. Like i said, from first glance it *kind of* seems clean. So when I bring up certain gross things I see in his room he says im nagging and nitpicking and sound like his mom. Which annoys me. This is the only thing that Im starting to have an issue with. He is amazing and great to me in every way, which makes it harder for me to make a big deal of this. My step dad thinks if I don't nag him and talk to him ab this now it won't get better. My bf just has no sense of urgency at all with this stuff and I want him to. I just don't want to breathe in dust and mold in a humid basement. How do I bring this up without sounding like an annoying mom? Is this normal behavior for men? Is he too old to be like this? Help

2023.06.03 21:08 deaglerdog Smart vents
My upstairs is hot and my downstairs is chilly when I'm running the AC. I am thinking of adding a few smart vents to try and even it out. Good idea? Any tips?
I know there can be pressure issues, if too many vents close, but how many can I do? Sq ft is 2500.
Also, any brand recommendations? And I guess I should pair them with a smart thermostat?

2023.06.03 21:06 ampleuncertainty Overloaded Office Circuit
All the lighting and outlets on the 3rd floor of my house are one circuit. I decided to put my office up there, so there's a lot going on: computers, monitors, TVs, network equipment, etc.
Being on the 3rd floor with lots of electronics... it gets ridiculously hot in the summer and the central AC isn't sufficient. I got a portable AC unit just for the office, but using it will often cause the breaker to trip.
There are bedrooms directly below the office that are on different circuits that don't get a lot of utilization. There are also easily accessible attic spaces all around the 3rd floor office.
My tentative plan is to branch off one of the bedroom outlets below to add a single outlet to the office just for the portable AC unit.
This feels pretty hodgepodgey though. Is there a better alternative I should consider here? Another possibility is a 20amp bathroom circuit already on the 3rd floor next door to the office, which is shared by all 4 bathrooms in the house.

2023.06.03 21:05 Ok-Age-3268 Windsor at liberty house vs 88 Regent vs Laguna at Newport
I'm moving to JC with my partner. We are looking for a 2-bed apartment. After a dozen apartment tours, we finalize our choices to the following 3 buildings. We need some help with our choice. Any information/suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you!
Windsor at liberty house: Pros: very nice neighborhood, spacious (1200 sq ft), facing south Cons: old building, the unit is facing the light train
88 Regent: Pros: very nice south east view, nice finishing Cons: Hi-Per network (heard it's bad), a bit small (978 sq ft)
Laguna at Newport: Pros: spacious (1300 sq ft), nice finishing Cons: not so good north west facing, the neighborhood is less interesting
