Sharing my experience with my extreme hunger:
2023.03.21 19:00 Cha0ticdreams Sharing my experience with my extreme hunger:
I’m gonna put what I usually eat during my extreme hunger so here we go.
- lots, lots and lots of peanut butter. I put it on everything, my oatmeal, cereal, bread, waffles, pancakes, muffins and I even eat it from the container.
- lots of muffins, cookies, crackers.
- the whole pot of oatmeal/porridge.
- 2-5 bowls of cereal.
- lots of bread, sandwiches.
- nutella
- lots of carbs and foods that are high in fat or sugars.
- waffles and pancakes.
- eating a whole pint of ice cream
- lots of ham and cheese.
- eating an entire pack of cookies like Oreos, chocolate chip cookies etc.
- still eating even if I’m uncomfortably full or still mentally hungry.
I gotta say, I honour my cravings and all but sometimes it’s not physically possible. Due to my out of whack digestive system, feelings of nausea, indigestion. Share yours in the comments. 🙂

If you were to put a cheese and ham toastie in an air tight container and launch it into space, would it deteriorate over time? I mean the radiation would kill bacteria, there’s no oxygen and other factors to consider

2023.03.21 17:12 ResponsibleDoor7 SO does not eat anything I make
My SO (22m) and me (22f) never cook together! We live together and don't cook meals together...how bizarre is that?
He does not like anything I make unless what I'm making is directly out of a frozen foods package. I'm not a great cook or anything but I'd like to think what I make is at least PALATABLE?
Some examples of what I commonly cook: chili, some combo of tomato/bean/protein rice, baked chicken legs, roasted sweet potatoes/carrots or other veggies, simple tacos/quesadillas (think packaged seasoning lol).
Am I crazy? These aren't offensive or gross foods...Yes they're not from scratch (I usually use jars/cans as a crutch and add my own fresh food). But are they really that unappetizing?
He doesn't grocery shop with me either; we haven't gone to a grocery store together in WEEKS, literal weeks. When I do offer him my food he either says I'm not hungry or he eats it in such an offensive way. For example once I made thai peanut noodles and chicken (it wasn't great, it was kind of bland ngl) and he pulled the pot out of the fridge and...began pulling the food out with his hands. Like taking a chicken leg and ripping it with his hands and pinching noodles w/ his fingers???? I was like yo dude, I'm still gonna eat that later wtf. If you don't like it just don't eat it? Don't spare your time fucking ruining it so I can't eat it either?
He won't spend $20 on some nice salmon at the store for us but he'll drop $40 doordashing pre-cooked fish or something. I find myself fantasizing about a past Tinder date sometimes where the guy and I made mac and cheese together from scratch :(
No he doesn't have sensory issues or allergies. He just doesn't like what I cook.

2023.03.21 16:50 Diligent_Crab_6933 Are vitamins/supplements enough when you have the diet of a little kid?
Basically I only eat a very small range of foods. I don’t know if it’s a texture or taste thing, I’m in my 20s and since I started living on my own at 19 I also noticed it’s a cost thing- if I get the same foods every time I grocery shop, the price will always be the same, and nothing will go to waste because I get the same foods I know that I will eat.
I’ve never liked strong flavors and find my diet almost entirely consisting of things like bread, bagels, grilled cheese, ramen, rice, cookies, etc. I try to get fruit and veggies when I can but the textures of alot of those really do bother me . I get frozen fruit because it’s the least effort to thaw and eat but sometimes the textures of those gross me out. Fresh fruit that I can handle doesn’t have a ton of nutrients, like bananas and apples. Sometimes I eat scrambled eggs too, and add in things like kale or broccoli or carrots, but that pretty much concludes my list of things I eat. I also am pretty depressed so preparing food is often tough as well (so cookies for breakfast it is). To add to this complication, I struggled with eating disorders for around a decade and only recovered a few years ago, so making a huge effort to focus on healthy fooods and stuff almost instantly sends me back to those bad habits and bad headspace.
I am wondering if taking supplements or even just a multivitamin is truly enough to meet my needs if my diet is mostly bread and cheese. I know there’s also like green smoothies and premade “meal” drinks but they are so, so expensive and don’t keep me full like my safe foods do.
Thank you x

2023.03.21 16:41 FMyLev "Goodbye Earl" takes place in DC's Watchmen Universe
A question has been plaguing me since I-know-not-when. An eternal question that I could not, for the life of me, figure out the answer for:
Where does the song "Goodbye Earl" by The Chicks take place?
We get a couple of clues as to geography. We know it's somewhere rural in the United States (The "4-H club" is an organization run by the Department of Agriculture, and the "FFA" stands for the Future Farmers of America - an organization that is only active in the United States. These are clubs that are usually popular in rural areas of the US).
However, we also know that the location is a "red-eye midnight flight" away from Atlanta. Where in the U.S. is a red-eye flight away from Atlanta? A red-eye flight is, by definition, a flight where you board the plane at night and disembark in the morning. A flight from Atlanta to the west coast is approx. 6 hours long, and, with the three-hour time difference, a midnight flight would get in at 3:00 am - hardly a red-eye. A flight up to Maine from Atlanta is only 3 hours as well. A flight from Atlanta to Hawaii is 10 hours, which, with the time difference, would make 6 hours. This could constitute a red-eye, but with the current ways that the flights are scheduled, the only flight that leaves for Honolulu is in the morning. So, there is nowhere in the U.S. that (1) has a 4-H club, and a chapter of the FFA and (2) is reachable from Atlanta by a red-eye midnight flight. Therefore we can establish that "Goodbye Earl" takes place in some alternate United States.
But, why Watchmen? Well, as you might recall, in the universe of Watchmen, the United States annexed Vietnam after Dr. Manhattan won the Vietnam War for America. As such, part of the attempted assimilation would likely include the 4-H club and FFA opening up Vietnamese chapters. Does this work with our flight schedules? Well, the song specifies a "red-eye midnight flight" but it does not say that the flight was non-stop. Tonight, there is an 11:55 PM flight scheduled for Paris, and a 12:15 AM flight scheduled for Seoul-Incheon, both of which are red-eyes. There are direct flights to Vietnam from both Paris and Seoul. Alternatively, in the Watchmen universe, it's highly likely that there would be a direct flight from Atlanta to Vietnam. Atlanta is a hub city for Delta Airlines and has been one of the busiest airports in the world for many years. As the annexation of Vietnam would require closer ties, it's probable that Delta would have started an Atlanta/Saigon route that could have been a "red-eye midnight flight."
Let's consider the other geographic markers. First, once Earl is dead, Mary Anne and Wanda open up a highway stand selling "Tennessee ham and strawberry jam" off "Highway 109." Highway 109 is a fairly common designation and could be used in Vietnam. But, Tennessee ham? That seems somewhat more problematic.
Doubt not, dear friends - these are, in fact, more support of the setting. Vietnamese cuisine is known for its wide variety of pork products. The traditional banh mi has three different types of pork in it (head cheese, ham, bologna). Nem chua, gio lua, thit kho tauo - these are all traditional Vietnamese pork dishes. Further, Vietnamese cuisine has a unique history of assimilating elements of colonizing powers' cuisines (see: the evolution of the banh mi from the French baguette). It's entirely possible that what's labeled as "Tennessee ham" in the song could be an American re-naming of cha lua (vietnamese sausage). Moreover, southern-style "country" ham is similar to a southern Chinese dish, jinxua ham. Maybe there was a population exchange, and, due to the presence of Tennesseean GIs in the area, Jinxua ham was given the name "Tennessee ham."
Further, strawberries do grow in Vietnam. And, seeing as Mary Anne and Wanda opened up their stand "as summer turned into Fall," it's likely that this strawberry jam could be made from fresh strawberries grown in humid, equatorial Vietnam, rather than somewhere in the comparatively chillier continental US.
Indeed, by setting "Goodbye Earl" in the Watchmen universe, the Chicks have placed their song in thematic dialog with Alan Moore's graphic novel. Watchmen roundly condemns vigilantes, arguing that they are selfish, weak, and violent. In contrast, "Goodbye Earl" paints a situation in which vigilantism is necessary - recall the lyric: "Earl had to die." As such, the Chicks add nuance to Moore's thesis - while vigilantism to save society will largely lead to drastic results, the Chicks argue that sometimes violence is needed where the state will not act.
TL;DR:
-"Goodbye Earl" takes place in Vietnam, in the Watchmen universe where the U.S. has annexed Vietnam.
-The geographic references in the song support this
- The two pieces are engaged in a thematic dialog.

2023.03.21 16:27 well-thats-cool- Has anyone else had a male be creepy about their pregnancy? TW *sexual harassment*
For context I work at an autobody shop. I used to work in the actual shop as a paint technician and did zero interaction with customers and delivery people and I preferred it that way. Unfortunately when I got pregnant my job became unsafe so they let me come into the office as the receptionist until my leave is over.
I started meeting the regular delivery people and most of them are really nice, and a few months ago one of our paint suppliers started sending this new guy in. He's like late 50s early 60s, very short with glasses, and honestly gave me the heebie jeebies just by looking at him. However he was very polite and I tried not to judge him. As time went on he would stop in about 2 times a month and would always ask me a ton of questions about my pregnancy. At valentines day he brought be a bag of Hershey kisses (only for me, not anyone else in the office). Again I thought it was odd for him to be so fascinated with my pregnancy and to bring me chocolates but it could all be chalked up to him just being a genuinely nice guy who was awkward. Nonetheless my boss was also getting some off vibes from him and made a point to stay at my desk with me when the delivery guy was here if he was available.
Today things finally came to a head when this guy came in for his delivery. I did my usual thing, signed the papers, and then the guy started asking me about my baby and when I was going on leave, etc. At this point my friend who works in the office so happened to be near my desk. I started to talk to him to try and deter the delivery guy from hanging around, and I guess when I wasn't paying attention my friend saw the guy take a picture of me! Like my face and everything! My boss played back the camera and sure enough, the creepy guy took a picture of me. Thank God I was sitting down and it wasn't of my bump, if he brought my unborn son into whatever weird BS he has going on I'd be even more upset.
My boss called the company and told them that the driver is not allowed here anymore. I'm just genuinely bothered and now I just want to go home. Worst part is the other driver told me this particular guy used to work at Chuck E Cheese as the Chuck-E mascot. To think about this guy working around small children puts shivers down my spine. I already can't wait to get the hell out of the office because I can't stand people or office work.....but this just sealed the deal for me.
Has anyone else had someone be really creepy about their baby bump or pregnancy?

Important: before you send your codes please make sure your account is secure (if your password is twelve characters or less it's best to assume your account has already been compromised; your password should be eight randomly selected words, see 1 and 2). Scams where compromised accounts are used to leverage reputation to scam an unsuspecting user, used to steal codes during the middle of the trade, and steal unused gift cards the victim was saving for later are increasingly commonplace. 2023.03.21 12:09 Firegoat1 Superchef Grudge Match - ep 8 - Unfinished Business -- early discussion and spoilers
It's Tuesday morning and time for Discovery plus to do an early drop of Superchef Grudge Match. This episode is entitled "unfinished business." As usual what follows will be a discussion of the chefs, the grudge, the knives, the judging and the scores, but I won't list the winners of the two rounds, altho they will likely appear later in the comments, so read on at your own risk.
ROUND ONE: The chefs for round one are Aaron May challenging his rival from their earlier days (close to 20 years ago) on the line, Ilan Hall. Aaron says he harbors so much resentment for the way Ilan bullied him on the line. (Hmmmm, Ilan a bully in his early days? (Kind of brings back shades of Top Chef season two and how ilan treated Marcel). They both worked the line on a Spanish restaurant in New York, Casa Mono. Aaron says he made it out but he harbors a lot of resentment to how he was treated. Ilan says Aaron was always jealous of him but that he himself is the better chef. Knives: Aaron's knife was hand-made in L.A. It's a 9" hand made vacuum-hardened steel. Ilan puts up what he says is his favorite knife of all time, a 7" aircraft grade CPM S36 VN steel blade. He says he would be mortified to lose it.
The mystery ingredient: Aaron brought American cheese. Ilan brought rose petals. Darnell requires them to cook a cuisine they both used to cook together, so they are required to make meat and vegetarian Spanish tapas. The secret ingredients must both be used in both types of tapas. Aaron is cooking: Meat option is Iberico ham and American cheese croquette with rose petal harrisa jam. The vegetarian option is American cheese tortilla espanola with pickled rose petal aioli. Ilan's meat tapa is chopped cheese on pan con tomate. The vegetarian dish is grill mushrooms with American cheese and rose petal special mayo. Here come the judges: Maneet Chauhan and Crista Luedtke. Judging: There is 50 points available -- 20 for taste, 20 for use of ingredients and 10 for presentation. Aaron presents his dish first. Crista says Aaron outdid himself. Maneet loved his aioli he made with the rose petals. She didn't think the American cheese in the croquette melted enough. But loved the harissa. Chef Ilan presents second. Crista says he delivered a modern take on tapas. She liked the peppers in the meat dish, but was losing some rose. Maneet loved the mushroom tapa, as did Crista. Maneet says overall it is very impressive and modern. Obviously judging is not blind. The scores: 45 to 43.
Take aways from this round: While I think there was a real grudge here 20 years ago, I think both these chefs moved on from it a long time ago. There is a lot of smack talking but its of the funny light variety like "Ilan hates puppies!" and that sort. They seem genuinely friendly at the end and seem to really respect each other. So it ended on a good note with both being good sports. Interesting that Ilan is on the show after he hosted Knife Fight -- a show with a similar concept -- for four years. Also Aaron May has won GGG 10 times and been on the show far more than that and both the judges are also regular contestants and/or judges on GGG so they know his food far better than Ilan's who has been out of competition cooking for some time other than his round on TOC 4. (not sure which of these shows filmed first).
Round two: Darnell says this grudge is near and dear to him as he's known both chefs since his culinary school days. Chef Davonte Bolden is challenging Chef Randy Pasch. The two chefs were supposed to open a restaurant together and allegedly Chef Randy got cold feet and left Ddavonte high and dry. Darnell says Che Davonte has helped him open six different restaurants. and became Darnell's executive chef. Randy is a protege of Stephanie Izard and Grant Achatz and is an executive chef. Randy says he left Davonte because he is a stronger chef than Davonte and he had to dowhat he needed to do for his career.(he gets booed by the audience for that.) KNIVES: Davonte brings a knife given to him by his mentor as 12" high carbon chef-cleaver hybrid. Randy brings his knife he named Sheila, a 10" Shun Damascus clad Chef's knife. Mystery ingredient: Davonte brings cream soda. Randy brings finger limes. Darnell assigns them to make a sweet and savory dish using finger limes and cream soda in 30 minutes.
The food: Davonte is making a pineapple bowl with Asian-inspired Spanish rich with salmon, shrimp andpico de gallo with tortilla chips. Randy is making a pork rind encrusted codwith smoked lobster, corn and quinoa salad with a cream soda vanilla gastrique with bread pudding salad. Judging: Davonte presents first. Crista says it is a beautiful presentation. She is getting the sweet but not too much. She thinks a little too much is going on. She thought it could use more lime. Maneet thought the salmon was unnecessary. The shrimp was delicious. She likes the heat in the rice. Randy presents second: Crista again says a lot going on. Delicious but strugging with the cohesiveness of the dish. Maneet says they are all delicious on their own but not cohesive. She likes the smoke on the lobster. She wanted more cream soda. Maneet says both chefs need to do more self-editing. The score is: 37 to 33. Pretty low scores right here.
Final thoughts: Even tho the second round seemed like a legit grudge the way they were acting, at the end they all talk about how the three of them are brothers and tight and the loser says if he had to lose to anyone it would be his competitor --- so I get the feeling this wasn't the hate match it started out looking like. Also weird that the host's own executive chef would be competing on the show. But at least at the end it was obvious they were all friends (for those of you who find the really hateful matches uncomfortable.)
Here is what is coming up next week according to the Food Network site: Darnell "SuperChef" Ferguson welcomes four fired-up chefs to bring the heat into the kitchen. First up, it's a Tar Heel throwdown as Chopped winner Chris Coleman seeks to take the title of North Carolina's best chef from Executive Chef Travis Myers. Then, the temperature rises in a Food Network Star rematch as Beat Bobby Flay winner Chad Rosenthal faces Iron Chef veteran Viet Pham in a fried chicken fight.

2023.03.21 09:14 Kimflyangel2 Cooking Eggs - The Benefits of an Egg Cooker
| Eggs are a great source of nutrition, providing essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, and choline. However, the way you cook eggs can affect their nutritional value. That's where the Chefman Egg Cooker comes in. This kitchen appliance is designed to cook eggs quickly and efficiently, while also preserving their nutritional value. One of the main benefits of using a Chefman Egg Cooker is that it can cook eggs without the need for added fat or oils, which can be unhealthy in large quantities. This makes it a great option for those looking to maintain a healthy diet. Additionally, the egg cooker allows you to cook eggs without overcooking them, which can cause the eggs to lose some of their nutritional value. Another benefit of using an egg cooker is that it allows you to prepare eggs in a variety of ways. Whether you prefer hard-boiled, soft-boiled, poached, or scrambled eggs, the Chefman Egg Cooker can do it all. This versatility makes it a great addition to any kitchen. When it comes to incorporating eggs into your diet, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, it's important to choose high-quality eggs from chickens that have been raised in a healthy and humane environment. Look for labels like "organic" or "pasture-raised" when shopping for eggs. Additionally, while eggs are a great source of protein, it's important to balance your protein intake with other nutrients like fiber and healthy fats. https://preview.redd.it/3f88k9dew1pa1.jpg?width=1247&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb5d1d58d5e4d5392e7b74e08cf25f2b81da002d Fun Facts Now, let's dive into some fun facts about eggs. - Did you know that the color of an egg's yolk is determined by the hen's diet?
- A diet high in yellow and orange pigments will result in a darker yolk color. -
- Additionally, eggs can be used for more than just food. Eggshells can be crushed and used as a natural fertilizer for plants, and egg whites can be used as an ingredient in homemade beauty products.
Egg Tips for Health For Regular Folks: - Don't be afraid to eat the yolk: While the egg white is a great source of protein, the yolk contains important nutrients like choline and Vitamin D. Eating the whole egg can provide a more balanced source of nutrition.
- Cook eggs without added fat: Using an egg cooker, like the Chefman Egg Cooker, can help you cook eggs without the need for added fats or oils. This can make for a healthier meal option.
- Pair eggs with other healthy foods: Eggs are a great addition to a balanced meal, but it's important to pair them with other healthy foods like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
- Limit your intake: While eggs are a great source of nutrition, it's important to balance your intake with other sources of protein and nutrients. For most people, eating 1-2 eggs per day is a healthy amount.
For Fitness Enthusiasts: - Eat eggs after a workout: Eggs are a great source of protein, making them an ideal post-workout meal. They can help to repair and rebuild muscle tissue after exercise.
- Eat eggs with other protein sources: While eggs are a great source of protein, they don't contain all of the essential amino acids. Pairing them with other protein sources like chicken or fish can provide a more complete source of protein.
- Don't skip the yolk: The yolk of an egg contains important nutrients like choline and Vitamin D, which can be beneficial for athletes. Plus, the fat in the yolk can help to slow digestion and provide a steady source of energy.
- Watch out for added fats: While eggs themselves are a healthy food option, adding fats like butter or cheese to them can increase their calorie and fat content. Opt for cooking methods that don't require added fats, like boiling or using an egg cooker.
Overall, eggs can be a great addition to a healthy diet for both regular folks and fitness enthusiasts. By balancing your intake with other healthy foods and cooking methods, you can enjoy the many health benefits of this versatile food. submitted by Kimflyangel2 to u/Kimflyangel2 [link] [comments] |
