Mask of Bakris paired with solar surge mods make conditional finality hit harder on both shots.
2023.06.01 04:40 -Darkeater_Midir- Mask of Bakris paired with solar surge mods make conditional finality hit harder on both shots.
Hitting ~7k then ~5k per pellet with buffs vs ~3.5k without. Now if only Bakris didn't have an annoying 10 second cooldown lockout it might be useful.

2023.06.01 03:15 kyrie-24 Twin-Tailed Fox can receive Surge buffs from multiple elements. When combined with reworked exotics it can receive up to 60% damage buff.
TTF can benefit from Void, Solar and Arc Surge at the same time.
Usually, you would run 3 copies of the same Surge Mod for a 23% buff on your heavy. Previously, each of the TTF rockets scaled only with its matching surge buff. But as today all the rockets benefit from every Solar, Void or Arc surge buff active. Probably due to this change:
> Targeting, Dexterity, Loader, Reserve, Unflinching, Surge, and Holster mods now work correctly when a weapon changes damage type.
Examples:
- 3x Void = 23%
- 2x Void, 1x Solar = 17% * 10% = 28%
- 1x Void, 1x Solar + 1x Arc = 33%
This alone buffs its damage by 8% compared its regular use and is how you should use TTF right now for dps. But it can be further increased when paired with some exotic armors changed to work with Surge buff:
- Sanguine Alchemy: Grants 2x Surge of your subclass element on rifts
- Mantle of Battle Harmony: Grants 4x Surge of your subclass element on kills with a weapong with matching element.
- Eternal Warrior: Up to 4x Arc Surge on arc kills.
- Path of Burning Steps: Up to 4x Solar Surge on solar kills.
- Mask of Bakris: 4x Arc and 4x Stasis Surge on shift.
With up to 4 additional Surge stacks, these are some of the combinations:
- 3x Void, 2x Solar = 23% * 17% = 43%
- 2x Void, 2x Solar, 1 Arc = 17% + 17% + 10% = 50%
- 3x Solar, 2x Arc, 1 Void = 58%
- 4x Arc, 2x Void, 1 Solar = 60%
Bakris and Sanguine Alchemy are easy to setup for dps. The others need a kill to proc/refresh and last about 10 seconds.
Notes:
- Osmosis and The Fundamentals are not affected and work as one would expect.
- Conditional Finality seems to work *mostly* as one would expect.
- Haven't tested personally with PoBS and Bakris, but they should work as well.
- If Scorch and Ignition is applied by TTF, they are affected by its buffs at the moment of the tick. Jolt don't seem scale with them.
TL;DR: TTF can use void, arc and solar surge buffs at once. 3x of the same kind is only a 23% buff. 1 of each Surge is a 33% buff. Some exotic armors can have up to 60% surge boost.

2023.06.01 02:00 thebyrdhouse Sierra Ski Traverse 2023
Where: East to West Ski Traverse from Shepherd's Pass Trailhead (Independence, CA) across the Sierra to Wolverton (Western Sierra Foothills), sometimes referred to as the "Sierra High Route Ski Traverse" or the "David Beck Route" after the ski guide who pioneered the route in the 1970s. Getting to cross the Sierra on skis, particularly with a historic snowpack, was an amazing experience.
When: May 25, 2023 – May 28, 2023
Distance and Vert: 50 Miles, 15,000' ascent (CalTopo:
https://caltopo.com/m/FH2VE)
Conditions: Continuous snow from mile ~6 at 9400'. Weather varied from zero visibility clouds, scorching direct sun, precipitation/graupel, and frigid mornings.
Lighterpack: for a couple (shared sleep system and ski gear for two)
https://lighterpack.com/rp5unn Cars/Transportation: This might be one of the biggest challenges of the trip. Some people choose to stage cars at both trailheads, but that would require a six-hour drive before and after the trip. The ideal situation, which we were able to work out, is to swap cars with another group crossing in the opposite direction simultaneously, trading keys on route. However, not everyone will be this lucky. Another option is to hitchhike from Wolverton to Three Rivers, then get a ride to the Fresno airport, fly to Reno, and take the 395 shuttle to Independence. But this will add days to your trip.
Road Closure: This year, an additional complexity was that the road from Hospital Rock to Wolverton was closed due to rain damage. It is a 14-mile stretch with an elevation gain of approximately 5000'. We spoke to rangers at SEKI, and suggested they might look the other way if we rode our e-bikes outside of construction hours, which they believed were from 7 AM to 7 PM. So, one group rode e-bikes with cargo trailers we purchased on Amazon from Hospital Rock at 2700' up to Wolverton at 7400'. They locked up the bikes and trailers and headed east. When we arrived at Wolverton after our traverse, we unlocked the bikes, loaded our gear, and rode the bikes back down to the car parked at Hospital Rock. Walking that stretch would be a pain after already crossing the Sierra, particularly because you'd probably have to haul boots and skis down the road with you on your back.
Purpose of [Long] Report: I've wanted to cross the Sierra on skis for many years, but poor snow conditions had stymied previous attempts. With the historic snowpack this year, I finally got a chance to ski it. Prior to this trip, I scoured the Internet for information, but most of it was either old and lacked details or came from guide companies that lead clients across in about six days. In the interest of aiding future skiers, I wanted to put together a comprehensive trip report with some of our group's learnings. However, a caveat to future readers, our trip was much later in the year than is typical and followed the deepest winter in recorded memory in the Sierra, so your experience may differ greatly.
GEAR Our kits were relatively light given it was a ski traverse, which was essential due to the long ski and boot carry on day one. This lighter pack is my wife and I's shared and personal gear combine. She was less egar to list out her clothing individually (she does not share our affliction) however she let me weigh it all at once:
https://lighterpack.com/rp5unn Sleep Kit: For anyone contemplating winter camping with someone they feel comfortable sharing a sleeping bag with, I cannot recommend the Feathered Friends Spoonbill enough. It is the single greatest piece of kit I have ever owned. It's absurdly light and warm and more comfortable than a solo bag because it's large enough for both people to stretch out. Of course, it only really works if you feel comfortable cozying up with your partner, but if you're a couple, like we were, it's the greatest. Just make sure that you have pad straps that hold the two sleeping pads together. When we first got the bag, we contemplated one of those double sleeping pads, but they're heavy and not as warm as the Therm-a-Rest Xtherm. Instead, I've sewn pad straps with grosgrain, similar to the ones you can purchase from Gossamer Gear, that hold the pads together perfectly. It's also nice that each person has their own pad to inflate to their preferred firmness. The Xtherm is also warm enough to eliminate the need for extra closed cell foam pads.
Skis: If you're contemplating this route, you might be tempted to reach for ultralight skimo skis, but I'd urge caution. The snow conditions you're going to encounter are wildly variable, and unless you're used to skiing sun cups with a super heavy pack down steep passes, you may want something more robust. I ended up opting for my Blizzard Zero G 105 because I wanted that additional flotation in the soft afternoon snow. It ended up being a pretty good choice, although it was pretty heavy to haul up Shepherd's Pass on my back.
Sharps Kit: We carried aluminum boot crampons and ski crampons. Both were essential. My partner had a BD Whippet to assist on some of the passes. I just opted for poles. If you're used to booting, I think crampons are probably enough, and you can likely leave the ice ax at home.
Stove: We debated bringing an alcohol stove (Trail Designs Ti Tri), but we ended up bringing a MSR Reactor, worried that we would have to melt snow for water. We ended up collecting 95% of our water, and we could've easily collected all of it. I've heard from other groups that when the weather gets cold, it can be more difficult to track down water, but we could have gotten away with an alcohol stove.
Footwear: I wore light road running shoes up Shepard's Pass. They got pretty shredded on the trip, but they were a welcome addition and served as great camp shoes too while I tried to dry by boots in the afternoon sun.
Eyewear: At the last minute, I ditched my goggles and wore Smith Wildcats exclusively. Although I did have a backup pair of sunglasses, just in case I lost the Wildcats, I'm glad I didn't bother with goggles. The descents themselves were pretty short.
Pack: We both used HMG Porter packs without the HMG ski carry mod, but our own MYOG tubular webbing contraption to hold skis in place without damaging the webbing straps. They were perfect for the trip. I do know HMG now makes a ski-specific pack, but I purchased the Porter many years ago. However, even if the new pack had been available, I'd still prefer the Porter for versatility in other activities like climbing, packrafting, general backpacking, etc.
DAY-BY-DAY REPORT Early on the morning of May 25th, we left the Courthouse Motel in Independence, CA bound for Shepard's Pass Trailhead. With skis and poles in hand, the proprietors looked perplexed when they asked us were we were headed and we told them “Fresno.” Despite significant runoff this year, the road to the Shepherds Pass Trailhead is passable with a low-clearance vehicle. While we couldn't reach the "hikers" trailhead, we easily reached the "stock" trailhead at 5600'. Starting our traverse from there, we ascended Symmes Saddle toward Shepard's Pass in lightweight running shoes, with skis and boots on our backs. Along the way, we encountered clear evidence of the historic avalanche cycle, including massive trees blocking the trail. Crossing the creek multiple times, we devised creative ways to keep our feet dry, using pack tosses and rock jumps. At the final crossing, we bypassed a sketchy log and carefully waded through the creek with our heavy packs. As the trail steepened into switchbacks, intermittent snow appeared around 8400', soon becoming continuous. Pushing on through snow with sneakers, we reached Symmes Saddle at 9100'. There the trail transitions to a south aspect and the snow disappeared completely. After a few more miles, we arrived at Mahogany Flat, there we switched from shoes to skis, encountering consistent snow for the rest of the traverse. Our first night's camp was set above the "Pothole" on granite slabs, offering a breathtaking view of the Owens River Valley below.
The following day, we ascended Shepherds Pass using boot crampons, reaching the Tyndall Plateau. Descending on firm, sun-capped snow, we made our way to the Kern River, where we were fortunate to find a snow bridge, a crucial element of our route. Crossing without a bridge would have been sketchy. From there, we faced the grueling climb up Milestone Basin under a scorching sun. Fortunately, afternoon clouds provided relief and intermittent graupel. We ascended Milestone Pass late in the afternoon, then descended into Milestone Bowl, where again we camped on granite slabs.
On the third day, we descended the remainder of Milestone Bowl before embarking on several long traverses across massive bowls. At the end of the first ski traverse, we booted up an unnamed ridge marked by glide avalanche cracks. After briefly meeting the other party traveling from West to East and exchanging information on conditions ahead, we crossed over Triple Divide Pass. The next pass, Copper Mine Pass, presented more glide cracks and cornices that showed signs of recent collapse. Instead of taking the conventional route north of the peak, exposed to hazards, we managed to skin up just below the Copper Mine Pass summer trail, which surprisingly was melted out and allowed passage to the next drainage. We finished the day with an easy skin up Horn Col and a relaxed ski down to Lonely Lake.
On the final day, we climbed over Pterodactyl Pass below Big Bird Peak before turning north and continuing to ski into the Tablelands. Once near Tablelands Pass, we removed our skins for the second-to-last time and enjoyed a fun but gentle descent toward Pear Lake Hut. The hut was completely buried in snow, having sat unused throughout the entire winter. From the hut, we skinned up the final hump before embarking on a true survival ski down to Wolverton. The snow extended all the way down to the parking lot, but it was wet and covered in pine needles, branches, and pine duff—the type of snow one can't truly fathom without venturing beyond ski resort boundaries.
Finally, we arrived at the parking lot and found our e-bikes securely locked to the barricade, which the eastbound group had prepared for us. We assembled the cargo trailers, attached them to the bikes, and began the long and winding descent from 7400' to 2700', reaching the road closure at Hospital Rock, the truck, and very welcome warm beers.

2023.06.01 00:44 bre4kofdawn Which set(s) to go with You Cannot Run Vader?
To start off, what do we even know about Vader and how he interacts with other units? I've heard he and Obi-Wan from the set are cross era-I'm assuming he'll count as GAR for those purposes?
Wondering if he'll work okay with Cody and his troopers from the 212th from the Hello there pack-I figure I can paint Cody in his Bad Batch colors to pair with Vader.
Also, have we heard anything about kitbashing and modding legality?

2023.05.31 23:47 Flamestar15 Star/Delta on the G30
I know this topic is probably suppressed by those that’ve already done it and want to sell the knowledge for money, but I’m going to ask anyways.
Theoretically a delta mod is very simple on the max and wouldn’t even require extra drilling, using the connection for the old phase wiring to route the output phases through back into the controller with the right pairing.
The issue however is finding a relay (or contactor) that can fit into the scooter and not require an external bag. I presume the ones that have already done the mod used an automotive relay that is 3p double throw for compactness, but I am unsure if the 40A ones are enough. Anybody have any ideas as to which relays I could use to attempt the mod?

2023.05.31 22:46 Zestyclose_Sir7381 Fitting grass mod and another mod issue
Been playing around with a feel for my load order and I've found my tree and my grass mod clashing aesthetically a little bit, so if anyone had an idea of a more desaturated grass mod that pairs well with the Traverse The Ulvenwald mod that's be much appreciated.
Another issue I had is that that new Realistic Clouds mod keeps de-activating itself in my load order before I'm able to use it.

2023.05.31 22:41 blunt-arrow PC Black Screen While Gaming
Hi there, first off apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, not my forte and my Grammarly hates Reddit rn. This has been an ongoing problem for months now, and I am for the first time directly asking instead of looking at similar posts throughout Google for help. Basically, whenever I play games my screen goes black, and stays that way until I manually shut down my computer, or it restarts on its own. This is the same for all games, the only difference is how long it can play until shut down. For low-res games like Stardew Valley and Undertale, it can take 30-60mins. For medium res ones like Minecraft Java edition, Sims 4, FFXIV and Syrim (no mods and low res) it takes about 10mins. High res like Genshin Impact, RDR 2, Hogwarts Legacy and Elden Ring either go black screen right at start up or after the starting screen ends and the game boots up properly. Also, it's pretty damn slow at start-up, but that might just be a Windows 11 thing. It's been like this since mid-April, and because gaming is a huge part of my lifestyle and personality, and it's around a $3000 PC (in CAD), this whole situation is driving me bonkers so I would love any help. HELP ME PLEEAASEE
This I have done to remedy the situation: apply the latest Windows update. Go to the previous Windows update. Make sure all drivers were updated on both versions. Mostly graphics card/display driver. When back to the last graphics card update in both instances. Manually uninstalled and then installed drivers. Tried commands like sfc/scannow, startup repair, and other commands to try to clean it. Performed clean boot, and manually disabled 3rd party programs one at a time to see if any of them were causing the problem. Semi-wipe my computer and retry the above. Completely wipe my computer and try the above again. Tried out Linux/Ubuntu to see if that was any better (not great with coding and too inconvenient to game with so switched back to Windows 11 later), and it was performance-wise, but the black screen issue was still there. Thought it was a hardware issue and had my GPU, CPU and motherboard tested at the place I bought them from, and my whole system at a separate repair store, and no issues were found. Tested my ram, is also fine. Got new PC fans and a CPU cooler in case it was a temperature issue. At this point, I think it may be a powePSU issue, but I really have no idea anymore. 2023.05.31 22:35 de_yogurt Budget headphones for gaming
Looking for a new pair of headphones. My current headset is currently making a lot of weird crackling/static noises(it's been around a long time). Preferably closed back but would consider open back. Over ear is a must. Cloth ear pieces would be nice since that's what I find most comfortable, but would consider leather. Not looking for a headset, figure I can always add a ModMic later down the road. Looking to spend under 70USD. TIA

2023.05.31 22:11 kyrie-24 Twin Tailed Fox can receive up to 60% buff from Surge buffs when combined with reworked exotics
TTF can benefit from Void, Solar and Arc Surge at the same time
Usually, you would run 3 copies of the same Surge Mod for a 23% buff on your heavy. But TTW allows you to run any combination of its elements. Examples:
- 3x Void = 23%
- 2x Void + 1x Solar =17% * 10% = 28%
- 1x Void + 1x Solar + 1x Arc = 33%
This alone buffs its damage by 8% compared its regular use and is how you should use TTF right now for dps. But it can be further increased up to 30% when paired with some exotic armors changed to work with Surge buff:
- Sanguine Alchemy: Grants 2x Surge of your subclass element on rifts
- Mantle of Battle Harmony: Grants 4x Surge of your subclass element on kills with matching element weapon
- Eternal Warrior: Grants up to 4x Arc Surge on arc kills.
- Path of Burning Steps: Grants up to 4x Solar Surge on solar kills.
- Mask of Bakris: Grants 4x Arc and Stasis Surge after shifting.
With up to 4 additional Surge stacks, these are some of the combinations:
- 3x Void + 2x Solar = 23% * 17% = 43%
- 2x Void + 2x Solar + 1 Arc = 17% + 17% + 10% = 50%
- 3x Solar + 2x Arc + 1 Void = 58%
- 4x Arc + 2x Void + 1 Solar = 60%
Notes:
- Scorch and Volatile seem to scale with the buff. I'm not sure about Jolt with the recent changes.
- Haven't tested with PoBS and Bakris, but they should work as well
- Among the exotics, Bakris and Sanguine Alchemy are by far the most easy to setup during damage phases. The others need a kill to proc/refresh and last about 10 seconds.
- I tested Volatile and Jolt, but I have to redo the tests because I forgot to take into account the buffs applied to the weapon that I was using for triggering the explosions because I'm unsure if those affect the debuff damage.
- TTF scorch definitely scales with some buffs, not with arc/void surges apparently. But again, I might have to test those again because the buffs expire
Edit: Added notes on scorch/jolt/volatile.
I was told that previously, each rocket scaled with the matching surge. But after this patch...
Targeting, Dexterity, Loader, Reserve, Unflinching, Surge, and Holster mods now work correctly when a weapon changes damage type.
....Somehow, now the 2/3 rockets benefit from every Solar, Void or Arc surge buff active.

2023.05.31 22:06 hilightnotes Highly detailed 'play by play' first impressions of PSVR2 and some games
CONTEXT
Although I have not yet become a PSVR2 owner, I got to try the PSVR2 for about 10 hours over 2 days. (On my friend's PS5).
I tried the following games:
Horizon Call of the Mountain, RE8, GT7, No Man's Sky, Thumper, Rez: Infinite, Star Wars demo, Song in the Smoke demo, Drums Rock demo.
My primary goal was to see how I feel about the headset, specifically in a context where I don't even have a PS5 at the moment. I also have to budget thoughtfully, I barely spend money except on my basic needs. I was trying to get a sense of whether I would enjoy this system enough that it would be a healthy addition to my life, enough that I would spend ~$1100 for the console and headset.
I already own a Reverb G2 with a solid PC, so I especially wanted to know:
- Will I feel that much more immersed with this wider FOV and vivid colours and deep blacks?
- Will it feel a lot easier and appealing to put on and use?
- Will I want to play Thumper 24/7?
- Is it comfortable? Especially in the context that I was one of the unlucky ones who found the original PSVR uncomfortable despite my love for it.
- Will I be interested enough in the games, will I have fun?
INTRO
I first fell in love with VR through the original PSVR. In some ways it's still my favourite headset to date with the rich colours and above average field of view, as well as some (unfortunately) exclusive games that I absolutely love. A couple years of owning PSVR saw me purchasing an Oculus Rift S. I enjoyed exploring the world of PCVR but always found myself missing the vivid PSVR colours and other qualities. To try and remedy this I sold my Rift S and bought an HP Reverb G2 when it released 2.5 years ago.
I'm definitely happy I picked up the G2 and despite the frustrating jank that comes with WMR it's stood the test of time as new headsets get released. Paired with a laptop 3080 GPU (approximately equivalent to a regular 3070), here's a little spoiler for my review: while using the PSVR2 I found myself simultaneously missing my G2 and also being reminded of why I loved the PSVR so much and how this carries over to PSVR2, with some advantages that my G2 can't touch.
I've also spent two weeks with a Quest playing wirelessly, and tried out Quest 2 connected to PC briefly (a horrible experience for me). Overall I can see the appeal of wireless and the lower cost Quest headsets but it's not what I'm looking for, personally, lacking in many areas I find too impactful.
PSVR2 IMPRESSIONS
A little spoiler, the arc of my 2 day experience was like this: great -> okay -> great -> unpleasant -> maddening -> good -> great.
DAY ONE
I started with unboxing and setup. The controllers felt great to me right away, got me excited. The headset was peculiar, I've never seen/felt a facial interface like it, it was interesting and surprising even though I'd seen pictures and videos and reviews. Cool!
The setup was nice. Cool room scanning effect, easy room setup, IPD and eye tracking setup seemed great. Passthrough was the best I've experienced, and so easy to turn on. Oh and I've never seen anyone mention the fun VR playstation effect/logo at the end of setup haha. Nice!
The headset felt surprisingly light on my head, like lots of reviewers and users have mentioned. I was expecting the small sweet spot, and that it was. It reminds me exactly of the PSVR's sweet spot, which I found needed to be in just the right spot to be at its best. I didn't have any headband to wear and didn't try anything else to help the headset situate. I found it to be fine though, and was happy with how it looked after brief adjustment. I was assisted by all the reading I've done (wear it like a hat, band at the lower end of your head angled up), as well as actually looking at the instructions Playstation showed me on-screen!
With limited time to play I barely charged the controllers before setup, so by the end of setup the batteries were, unsurprisingly, dead. I set them back to charge and switched to Dualsense. No problem, because more than anything I wanted to try Thumper!!
My first PSVR2 experience indeed became Thumper, the very game that motivated me to buy a PSVR headset way back when, and one of my favourite games of all time (I really love it...). I've played it a ton already and was eager to see how it looked and felt on PSVR2.
Well, it looked and felt great. I was in love immediately. Although I didn't have my G2 headset with me to directly compare, my feeling was that the improved colours and overall feeling of presence was above my expectations. The haptics added to Thumper was a nice touch and between the two of course it felt like the best way to play Thumper. I did already notice the 'film grain' effect that gets called mura, but it was a non-issue for me. There was a similar effect on the original PSVR and even though it was very much there technically speaking, I easily forget about it and stop seeing it. It doesn't bother me at all.
Thumper looked and played wonderfully, and my very first impression was "I NEED THIS HEADSET!".
Then I remembered I've gotta decide here if I'd actually spend $1100 for this thing, on my gentle budget, and returned to earth! I gotta try more and spend more time with it.
Unfortunately the gods were not on my side.
Next up was Horizon CotM. Controllers were adequately charged to give it a go.
I turn on my controllers and boot up CotM. I see some introductory in-game menu choices. It tells me to press X to select the one I want. Press press press. Nothing's happening. I am using the gaze tracking, the option I want is highlighted. Press press... Hmmmm, I try my left controller lower face button. That works. Oh is that the 'X' button? I thought it was on the right controller? Next menu, I select it with the left controller bottom face button. Next menu, "recenter the headset to continue". That one I know is on the right controller. I hold it down. Nothing. Uh oh... I hold it down some more, nothing. I turn off the controllers and turn them back on. No change.
Time to troubleshoot! I do a quick google, and quickly find an answer. Some people have this problem. I've gotta close the game, turn off the controllers, open the game with the Dualsense, THEN turn on the controllers. Strange and not very pleasant.
I do it, it works, I'm in!
I wasn't expecting to love Horizon CotM. But I was expecting to be visually impressed. I got in, and... it looked good. But I wasn't very impressed. I think I had high expectations from reviews of games like Walking Dead S&S where the PSVR2 graphical power apparently matches high end PCVR. Of course, the PS5 is still just a PS5, I've heard it's roughly equivalent to a 2070, and yeah, that checks out. The graphics of CotM were not mindblowing. It did not feel like a flat PS5 game.
But, it was good. And when I remember that PS5 power is roughly equivalent to a 2070, which is the first GPU I used VR with, I was impressed. It did feel like it was pulling above its weight. On a 2070 and Reverb G2 I feel like I'd expect this graphical quality to come with not only reprojection but also stutters and such. On PSVR2 it was totally smooth. The reprojection was comfortable to me, though I used snap instead of smooth turning (I find this tends to be my preference on PCVR too when reprojection is involved, because of the 'screen drag').
Still, technical judgements aside, I wasn't in love with the visuals. The backgrounds felt a little fake at times with what I'd describe as a kind of '3D glasses look' instead of a 'VR look', something that of course was necessary to save on resources. I was feeling very judge-y of the graphics and just played for about 10 minutes before switching games. I was hoping this would be a game that, while I didn't expect to love it, I thought I'd have good fun with, but I wasn't feeling the pull.
Next up, RE8.
I really enjoyed RE7 on PSVR. Time to get to the real shit. An aesthetic I'd be into, and the game that many say is the best on PSVR2. Resident Evil Village. I haven't played it flat and avoided spoilers. Exciting!
I have the same issue on boot as I had with CotM, where the controllers didn't work at first. This time at least I know how to fix it, and sort it out quickly. On with the game!
Right away when I start the tutorial it's just so much better to me than CotM. Ah yes, we've arrived. I'm immediately immersed, everything feels great. I fire a pistol in the shooting range, holy hell, it feels amazing! So cool. Uh oh dark room. Yep this is where it's at.
I played the RE8 demo up until (including) the first bit of combat and the first view of the castle in the distance.
I enjoyed it very very much. I'm ready, I want to play the full game! I felt totally immersed even as I commented excitedly on everything I was thinking and feeling to my friend watching.
Unfortunately, as I neared my stopping point for RE8, pain started to grow in my head and eyes too. Pretty bad. I was reminded of my comfort challenges with the PSVR, and feeling very nervous all of a sudden. Maybe I could not go for this headset, maybe it just doesn't work with my head. I didn't have anything I'd read about to try to improve the comfort like a headband, or a top strap.
I took a break, hoping that this was something I could sort out for my next play session, and not an unsolvable problem for me.
Next up, GT7.
Break's over! About an hour or two later.
I haven't really spent time with a racing game since Need for Speed: Underground on Gamecube. And that, I learned quickly, is a different beast from GT7. I did try Wipeout on PSVR, and while I really enjoyed giving it a quick try, I actually refunded it because I just wasn't into the racing. I think between impressions I'd watched and my experience with Wipeout, which looked amazing on PSVR, I once again had my visual expectations set quite high.
With GT7 I was even more graphically disappointed than with Horizon. The graphical quality itself is not so great. I haven't played it flat but I would imagine it's much reduced from the flat version. Which again, makes perfect sense, I just had expectations too high. It did feel immersive still, but I was a bit bummed from this graphical disappointment, and having a hard time getting excited to learn GT7.
I was playing on a file with some tracks and cars unlocked, not too much. I made it my goal to do a nighttime race, which I'd heard was especially beautiful. I was rushing though. Although turning with motion controls (dualsense) felt good, my driving abilities were terrible. I didn't know anything about GT7 really, and I was picking arcade races that said "Night" but when I loaded into the race it didn't feel at all like night, and I got frustrated and quit out at the start of the races. I just wanted to see nighttime!
I got a bit fed up and quit GT7, ready to move on to a game I was actually decent at.
Next up, Song in the Smoke demo.
Keep in mind I'm coming from being annoyed and disappointed with GT7. Now I load up Song in the Smoke, a game I've played the beginning of on PCVR and have kind of been saving in the hopes that I'll have my first full playthrough on PSVR2. It's a game I'm really interested in playing in full.
I open the demo to the main menu, point at the menu screen, and suddenly all hell breaks loose.
Menu options are being rapidly selected as I hover my VR cursor over them. What?? Is the demo glitched?
I try to progress but it's awful, I can't navigate the menus, I'm so flabbergasted and confused.
I quit out and switch to the Star Wars demo. Same thing happens. That's not good. Time to troubleshoot.
It turns out I'm having an issue where my right sense controller trigger is constantly firing.
I try one suggested solution, it doesn't fix it. Then I try the Playstation suggested fix, which is to do a full reset of the controllers. But I don't have a pin to reset it. I ask my friend. I ask his boyfriend. Nobody has a small pin. AHHH!!
Well that's the end of Day 1. I can't play, the right controller is broken.
Despite my mixture of feelings, some very very positive, I come away feeling rather dismayed and downtrodden on the PSVR2... I had a lot of technical issues in a short time, that finally put a very sour end to the first day.
DAY TWO
It started rough. I still didn't have a pin to do a controller reset. The right controller issue persisted. In a last ditch attempt I try something I read online that doesn't sound like it could possibly work. I pull the trigger all the way, blow into it, and let it flick back to starting position. I also did a couple other things but I'm pretty sure this is what did it. Cause yep, I got it working. Yay!!!
Day two is always better! Everything was different this time. It was night, I was alone in the room, my graphical expectations were in check, the system was setup, the controllers were working, I'd learned a bit more about how GT7 works, and I felt settled and relaxed.
First I wanted to try No Man's Sky. Another game I've played a lot of, I've even made a VR-focused quality of life mod for it on PCVR. How would I feel about it on PSVR2? I was very curious. My expectations here were low, I'd read about all the impressions, the low resolution and clarity.
Actually I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah it did have that low resolution and relatively low clarity. But I also have all kinds of performance issues on PCVR and I can never run it smoothly with a visual fidelity I'm satisfied with. Here, Hello Games decided for me what corners to cut, and I think they did a good job. I felt immersed and could see people enjoying No Man's Sky on PSVR2. That said, I'm a bit burned out on No Man's Sky and it wasn't a game I felt like I wanted to spend my limited PSVR2 time with.
I decided to spend the $10 to upgrade my REZ ps4 copy. I actually replayed Area X recently on PCVR, so I felt like I'd have a comparison in mind.
Not surprisingly, like with Thumper, I just loved REZ on PSVR2. First I played Area X, it was wonderful and definitely more impactful than on my G2 (which was still very good, don't get me wrong). Then I tried the main REZ game. I feel like Area X gets too much focus. Area X is a beautiful experience but damn the main game is such a jam.
I had a lot of fun. Of course I was using the eye tracked aiming and it worked great. Kind of a subtle difference in a way but I think it was impactful.
Feeling great, I decided I wanted to dig into a game a bit more rather than just keep rotating around. The obvious choice is RE8, but I felt like I should save that for if/when I actually own a PSVR2 for myself. I wouldn't have enough time now to finish it. Also I already knew from my brief test with it that this was a game that I'd want to play.
So instead I went back to Horizon CotM. This was a game I wasn't sure if I'd care at all about, but I wanted to give it another chance. I started over from the beginning, now alone and more present, and worrying less about whether the graphics met any preconceived expectation.
I also used the default, arm-swinging, control method this time. Why not give it a try?
This time I actually really did enjoy it. The arm-swinging was great! I'm surprised that it's not more popular, and I wonder how many people actually gave it a try. I'm a regular smooth movement user, but I felt like the arm-swinging was more immersive and fun. The climbing was fun. The story was fine enough to set a stage and I was worried there'd be constant talking but it wasn't like that (it was an annoyance for me in HL: Alyx, which I did not appreciate). I've never played a Horizon game but I felt engaged and felt like I was beginning an adventure I wanted to see through.
I ended up playing quite a bit. I got to the 'hub area', rescued a character, then went on a mission to get a scrap piece to fix an elevator. I also did the safari boat ride. And yeah this time I really did have fun, and if I do get a PSVR2 I'll gladly restart it and play it through. I don't expect it to be a favourite game by any means but yeah it was fun. And my visual criticisms still stand but I found myself enjoying the visuals as they are, looking down as I climb over beautiful rivers, sneaking through caves, pretty music... I liked the combat (I had aim assist turned off), found it engaging. Climbing felt good. Nice!
Also what about the comfort?
I realized that the comfort issue was mostly being caused by the way my headphones sat on the headset, pressing against my head in some way. Once I realized this, I remembered I discovered this as a culprit on the original psvr as well. A bit unfortunate, but I found a way to resolve it more or less by moving my headphone headband to the back of my head. (I wanted to use my own headphones which have very good sound quality). I think I'd need to sort out a different solution in the long term if I owned a PSVR2, but it did make me feel a lot better about the comfort. Besides that headache issue I had I really liked the way PSVR2 felt on my face/head, feeling light and easy to wear.
I took a short break, then dived back into GT7.
Feeling like I could take my time a bit more, this time I actually went into in-game settings, poked around... I turned off all HUD and HUD assists, but turned on some driving assists. This turned out to be exactly what I needed to enjoy the races.
I was still determined to get my nighttime experience. I did a full race that went into nighttime. Better, but I was still feeling disappointed, I wanted to be deep in the shroud of night and it was just not really dark and moody. Then I found the exposure settings! I turned exposure to its lowest, -1, and then also adjusted the temporary exposure to its lowest, -3. Ahhhh yes. I feel like the default is just tooooo bright. This is where it's at.
With exposure turned way down, now I'm where I want to be... I start to really enjoy the driving. I start to relish the shine of lights in the world around me, from tunnels or cars or city lights in the distance. I feel like I'm driving in the night. I feel like I have to keep my eyes focused to catch the shape of the track. But at the same time I feel way more relaxed.
In the end I played a variety of races, through different times of day. I kept the exposure very low and found that to be my preference in just about every situation. I started to really get in the flow of it all and I came away feeling like it is a game I actually want to play. I think I'd keep the driving assist on and just enjoy it the way that feels comfortable to me.
Time for bed!
BONUS DAY THREE
Okay technically I had 3 days! I didn't know how much time I'd have on my final day. I decided to go back to Thumper and just enjoy one of my favourite games, played on the best system I could play it on, for the rest of whatever time I had left.
I ended up playing through Levels 2, 3, and 4. Had a great time as I expected.
And that's that! That's the end of my PSVR2 experience.
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS AND DECISIONS
So, will I buy a PS5 just for PSVR2? Did I like it or did I love it? Would I recommend it?
I really do have to budget carefully right now.
I came away still unsure if I'll buy it. It's a big ask. I don't expect to use the PS5 for anything other than VR. I already have a good PC and Reverb G2, that has its issues, but I do still use it.
I do also think the PSVR2 is excellent.
So what about the Reverb G2 vs the PSVR2?
Whenever I try another VR headset I've been consistently rewarded in my G2 purchase. The G2 has amazing clarity, and I bought it for $600 which I think was a good price, but now it can be purchased for $300 on ebay or during sales, which is just amazing. Of course you need an expensive PC to run it, when I first got it I had a 2070 and I was enjoying it but it was a bit rough. Even with my 3070-equivalent computer, I often run games at reprojected 45fps, and many games will stutter. That said I had a great time playing Vertigo 2 recently, and I use my G2 for movies and also for a meditation app (DeepStates VR) and a music visualizer app (DMT: Dynamic Music Tesseract).
The PSVR2 does have better colours, better blacks, better FOV. In the end the PSVR2 has the better presence that I was hoping for. I did sometimes miss the clarity of the G2 and the graphical power of my computer. I felt this specifically in Horizon, GT7, and No Man's Sky, where I could imagine the PC providing a better experience if it's well optimized. At the same time, I don't even feel like I can play No Man's Sky comfortably on my PCVR right now because it's so intensive and I can never find a compromise between visuals and fps that I like since the last couple updates.
If I did not have any VR headset, but I had a PS5 and my current PC, I would pick PSVR2.
If I did not have any VR headset, and I also did not have a PS5 or PC, I would pick PS5 + PSVR2.
If I did not have any VR headset, and I did not have a PS5, but I did have a high end (3070 or above) PC, I would pick Reverb G2.
In my specific situation where I don't have a PS5 or PSVR2, but I do already have a good PC and Reverb G2, I am not head over heels dying to buy a PS5 and PSVR2. But I do want it. Goddamn I want it!! Will I buy it? I'm not sure. I'm expecting to make a little money over the next few months, but not sure yet exactly how much, so my decision will probably depend on that.
In the end I was surprised by how much technical trouble I had getting it all setup and working right. The controller issues were hugely frustrating. I felt really deflated after that first day. But once that was all done, and I got settled in with the headset, I did really love it.
This is a headset I would recommend. It exists in the real world with real limitations. It's not capable of the graphics a high end PC is capable of, but I also understand that it's easier to optimize for console vs PC and so it doesn't surprise me if some games do look as good graphically on PSVR2. And once you factor in the beautiful colours and blacks, and the above-average FOV, even when graphics are worse the presence is better.
It also is easier to use, once it's all working smoothly. Easy to turn on and get started. But also easier to feel like putting on the headset in general, because of the way that it does sit so light on the head even though its literal weight is standard to VR. The curious facial interface turned out to be a great design choice, feeling gentle and also allowing you to easily scratch your eye when an itch comes in! Comfort was excellent except for what seems to be a pretty unique headache issue I have that has something to do with my head shape + headphones, and based on my Day 2 experience I'm pretty confident I can resolve the problem. And I don't think this is a problem the vast majority of others will have.
Games-wise I feel great about the PSVR2, and I want to play games on PSVR2 that I wouldn't care about playing on PCVR because of the improved presence and haptics and overall accessible feel of the headset.
I love the controllers, the haptics are great, and the head haptics were a nice and subtle touch too.
And yes, I do want to play Thumper 24/7 on PSVR2.

2023.05.31 22:05 Vegan_Not Running a "Life in the Village" server, but nobody can get above "Peckish"
Hey, folks. Sorry for the really stupid question, but I haven't been able to come up with answer.
This evening I set up a local server using the "Life in the Village" mod pack. So far, so good.
But for some reason, everybody is stuck at 3 1/4 bars on the hunger bar, with a "Peckish" debuff. And no matter what we eat (raw, cooked, or prepared foods), it never goes up. Now and then we'll get a white outline around a meat bar or two, but the actual meat never fills up.
Here's a mod list in case there's something obvious I'm missing:

Forearms:
Yaujta gauntlets and wrist computer: A pair of bracers that cover the forearms, the left one having a wrist mounted computer that’s entirely indecipherable due to the odd script of the Yaujta but handles not only the active camouflage, the Falcon’s controls as a secondary means, and the self destruct but also can serve to hack other computers easily as well as storing data on creatures. The right bracer contains a pair of wrist blades and both have mounts for various other bits of Yaujta tech, the left bracer being much the same but also having a mount for a second pair of wrist blades. Is immune to destruction by acid.
Applies advantage to hacking checks and animal investigation checks.
Left hand bracer modification
Wrist Shield: A large, yard across shield made from the metal that all Yautja weapons are made, making it acid resistant and extremely durable. When expanded, a slot opens in the top of the bracer, allowing metal slats to expand out and multiply into a massive and incredibly sharp edged shield. It has been shown to be able to cut through not only a tree trunk but also a man’s throat in the process as well as being able to be forced through stone… Adds 1d20% blunt or slash to unarmed attack (does not stack with wrist blades) depending on how it’s attacked with, while grappling this can be deployed with advantage to end it and attack all at once.
Has a plus four to block and a plus two to attacks with it, 90% damage reduction from ballistic damage, 25% energy, blunt, slash, and Pierce reduction, and ignores armor bonuses.
Legs and feet:
Greaves, sandals, and thigh plates: Simple armor plates that protect from energy blades. Is immune to destruction by acid.
Set bonus:
Ability: Active Camouflage, the entire suit is capable of bending light around it to hide the wearer from view of his prey along with most detection softwares and hardwares. Due to his suit being a hand me down his software is currently bugged out, resulting in the active camouflage being disabled while his wrist computer runs debugging. (Locked till level three)
While active within three meters roll with advantage against 10+Jaeger’s intelligence+level, outside of three meters up to ten meters roll normally, beyond ten meters roll with disadvantage. While in water this ability is nullified.
Accessories: Small skulls attached to belts, bands, and other similar bands on his body.
- Rosarius: A necklace/amulet that can be tied to a belt, the amulet contains technology that produces a transparent field of energy that turns tiny objects and energy moving at high speeds through it into light.
Applies advantage to block bullets and similarly fast ranged attacks. (Does not work against magic)
Vehicle:
Yautja Scout ship: A small (relative, a bit bigger than the Millennium Falcon) ship that has a cloaking device that hides it from view of all non Yautja ships and tech, it contains a pilot chamber, armory, trophy room, and a sleeping chamber. It’s armed with much more powerful versions of the Yautja’s plasma caster to eliminate prey ships that are in the way of the Hunt, though Jaeger prefers avoidance over confrontation. It’s rigged to explode upon Jaeger triggering his own self destruct device after sending a message to the closest person he has to a father. Trophy room contents:
Sith Skull and spine, psychic’s spine, several mercenaries skulls, and at least three bear skulls.
Weapons/Other:
- Whirlwind Launcher: A armor module that attaches to any form of armor, as well as allowing for impulse control or manual controls. The unit typically remains folded into a small orb with a rectangle to the side but when unfolded forms four rocket launchers loaded with smart ammo.
Uses intelligence and perception.
Deals 20%+1d4X5% blast damage.
Kraken missiles: ignores armor bonuses, deals quadruple damage to armored vehicles and double armor wearing enemies.
Antipersonal: hits all enemies within ten feet of the target, deals double damage to unarmored targets.
Flak shot: Flying enemies automatically are grounded when hit, advantage against airborne enemies.
Energy surge: On a hit apply a 15+intelligence DC, on a failed save all electronics within ten feet of the target are shut off.
Takes ten rounds to load a barrel. (Passive)
Can be fired as a bonus action or fired all at once with a attack action.
- Medcomp: This armor module detaches from the left back side of Jaeger's chestplate, this module contains a clotting factor, syringe, medical stapler, a heavy duty scalpel, bone saw, and other medical supplies meant for a Yautja to use.
Has 3+level amount of charges, requires two actions to use. Using this expends a charge applies a 3d12% heal in addition to a extra d12% per level. Charges replenish during a long rest or when the Med Comp is hooked up to a external power source...
- Wrist blades: twin blades that deploy from his right bracer, acid proof and used in honorable duels and for takedowns. These blades are comprised of a metal that is similar to beskar in composition, allowing them to parry energy blades.
Adds 2d12 slash to unarmed attacks.
Deals double damage against enemies unaware of Jaeger.
Uses strength or dexterity.
The blades will activate and will add 3d6% slash damage to unarmed attacks when it's used to slash and adds 1d12% slash to the base damage when thrown. It returns to him after five rounds or when called manually if caught by someone else or embedded into something.
- Yaujta Saber: A ancient Elder’s custom weapon made from the weapon of a slain prey that could manipulate the world around them mentally. Among certain clans possession of this weapon is statement enough to show that the bearer is a powerful Hunter as well as considered a Elder regardless of age. This blade produces a crimson blade that’s non focused and more like a plasmacaster’s bolt but it’s still as deadly as the Sith’s saber it was taken from… This weapon is famous among Yautja, it’s name in their tongue being Sivk’va-h’sai-de.
Leveling bonus to attacks and blocks, apply wisdom modifiers to rolls with this weapon, and upon a successful block with this weapon against a energy/lightning attack, the attack is reflected.
Deals (Lvl)d6+STR plasma damage (Damage dealt by this blade cannot be healed mid combat), ignores non armor based energy resistances, and deals double damage monsters, unarmored organic enemies, and machines. Natural damage reflection due to things like acid blood is negated. Can be used to melt/cut through doors, floors, and walls.
Curse/Limitation, Clan blade: This blade will always seek out those that are of Yaujta blood or are part of the Jedi, the blade itself rejecting and fighting those that don’t meet those requirements.
If the wielder isn’t force sensitive or a member of the Yaujta race, attacks and blocks with this blade are made with disadvantage. If the wielder is a Yaujta to any degree attacks and blocks are made with advantage. If only Jedi/Sith/Force sensitive, attacks are not made with advantage or disadvantage.
- Sith’s Lightsaber: Jaeger took this from a Sith he killed, it’s part of a pair but he keeps the second on his scout ship as a trophy. He typically prefers his combi stick, wrist blades, and the Yautja Saber over this but will use it in a pinch…
Deals 2d4% plasma damage, doubled against machines and living things. Can be used to melt/cut through doors, floors, and walls.
- Psychic Spine Combistick: An extendable double ended bladed spear, given to Hunters after they finish their training, typically customized with trophies from hunts over time. Martin has infused one of Jaegar’s hunts, a psychics skull and spine, to the weapon. Can be used as a thrown weapon or a speadouble ended sword. Extends from a foot long length to a six foot long weapon.
Deals 1d12+STR piercing or slash.
When used as a throwing weapon use dexterity and strength both.
Leveling bonus to attacks and deals double damage when thrown. Returns to Jaeger after two rounds when thrown. Can pin enemies to walls upon a hit.
Sweeping blows - The Combistick is able hit multiple targets when swung by Jaeger. When making a melee strike with it, make an attack roll for every enemy in melee range.
As an action, the wielder can force an effect from the psychic spine attached to the weapon. These come in a variety of forms:
Hunters Manifestation - Causes a duplicate illusion of the wielder to appear. When an enemy attacks Jaegar, they must roll a D4. On a 1-2, they attack the real Jaegar. On a 3-4, they attack the illusion and destroy it. The D4 is rolled after they make their attack roll. 3 round cooldown.
Chokehold - Can cause a psychic ring to quickly appear near a creatures neck. Creature must make a dodge roll, or have the ring latched around their neck, choking them, causing 8% bludgeoning damage per round and rendering them unable to speak until they make a successful DC15 Strength save to break out of it. 6 round cooldown.
Alpha Predator - As an action, can cause a psychic illusion of fear in a creature the wielder is ‘hunting’. This forces a DC15 Wisdom save, and on a fail, the creature becomes frightened, with disadvantage to attack rolls against the wielder and being unable to willingly move closer, attempting to run away. The creature can attempt to make the save again at the end of their turn. If a creature makes their save, they become immune to Alpha Predator for a day.
Psychic Blast - Can launch a fist shaped blast of psychic energy when the user throws a punch, allowing for either a gauntlet or punch attack to deal an additional 5% psychic damage, or make a ranged attack with their melee bonus. 2 round cooldown.
- Ceremonial dagger: used after a hunt to remove trophies from his prey, can be used in self defense in a pinch.
Deals 1d4+STR+DEX piercing damage.
Leveling bonus to attacks and checks involving removing parts from animals, is capable of being used to block energy blades.
- Yautja Spear rifle: A alien rifle that was made by the universe’s Hunters to serve as a means of eliminating armed and heavily armored prey silently.
While this weapon is considered a sniper rifle, it’s completely silent as well as being able to swap to a shotgun mode when needed.
This weapon has a leveling bonus + one.
In sniper mode this weapon suffers from no debuffs due to range away from the target, beyond ten meters this weapon doubles it’s bonus. It can also apply a dc 17 dex save on a hit to yank targets into melee range, auto succeeds on corpses.
In shotgun mode it fires three spears at once, making a target roll three dodge rolls if in melee range of the user, outside of melee range this attack has disadvantage.
Deals 2d8+INT piercing and a third in bleed damage for . The ammo of this weapon can be retrieved and put into fresh clips, each clip contains 12 spears.
- Net gun: A odd pistol like thing that is meant to be used to restrain prey, capture it, or kill it by bleeding it.
Launches a net with razor sharp strands, upon it hitting the target is considered grappled. Every round the target must make a dex dc of 13 to carefully remove the net, taking 1d4X5% on a failed save.
Weakness:
This is sufficient: cannot remove his armor for better armor unless it is of Yaujta make.
(-2 slots)
I swore to not take this off in the presence of prey: will not remove his bio mask in the presence of other living beings unless they are Yaujtas or are considered brethren by him/can see through it regardless.
(-1 slots)
Racials:
Sturdy: Halved fall damage.
Odd sight: Darkvision of 90 feet (bright light) and 120 feet (Dim Light)
Claws: +1 to climbing and deal 1d6+STR blunt or slash damage with unarmed blows.
Apex Hunter Physicality: Yautjas are very strong, with special organs like their dreadlocks that serve the porpose of thermoregulation and sense things around them, and having sharp fangs/claws to attack enemies at short range. The Yautja can survive 20 Minutes Underwater without air. +1 in STR and Infra-Red Vision.
Glowing Blood: Yautja Blood is easily recognizable as a luminous phosphorous green fluid. Their blood can be used to enhance or aid Humans or similar humanoids, carbon-based creatures, If Re-Purposed.
Passives:
Yaujta’s physique: Jaeger’s strength is double that of a human at peak condition as well as the denser skin and bones of one.
Advantage to strength and dexterity rolls.
(8 slots)
Takedown: Jaeger has studied the biology of countless animals and species, his blows from the shadows being guided by such knowledge to be more effective.
Triple damage to unaware targets.
(4 slots)
Chain Strike: Jaeger’s training has resulted in him being able to chain together attacks into one seamless combo.
Upon landing a attack Jaeger can attack again up to twice per action.
(2 slots)
Haste: Jaeger can move far faster than humans…
Two actions per round.
(2 slots)
Actives:
Predator leap: jump twenty feet vertically and thirty feet horizontally.
(2 slots)
Challenge: Jaeger roars, his Yaujta vocal cords unleashing a sound that terrifies and announces his intentions of hunting that target.
Applies a wisdom save of 12+Jaeger's Charisma, upon the target failing the target suffers from disadvantage to defend against and to attack Jaeger.
(5 slots)
- Backstory: Jaeger was once a human, born to a ordinary family that a Yaujta betrayed the code of the hunt when he killed his parents when Jaeger was a infant. The young hunter was exiled and Jaeger taken in by his Clan, he was given to a Yaujta huntress to be raised and taught the ways of the hunt. In his first decade of life it would become clear that he would require... a intervention to be able to survive. He was given regular treatments to boost the durability of his bones, increase his muscle density, and give him a Yaujta’s physique. After his twentieth year with the Yaujta he had completed his training and earned the right to wear the armor and blades of a Hunter, his first and long hunt would begin on Fim...

2023.05.31 20:32 Best_Club_In_America J.P. Morgan's subtle position shift: From Jamie Dimon "does not recall" discussing Epstein-related matters with Jes Staley to "Jamie Dimon did not PERSONALLY know or meet with Epstein"
tl;dr: "I don't recall" and "I don't believe" legalese comes to the rescue again; Epstein also apparently made calendar entries for non-existent meetings with Jamie Dimon (according to J.P. Morgan)
From:
https://nypost.com/2023/05/31/jamie-dimon-had-no-jeffrey-epstein-talks-with-jes-staley-jpmorgan/ In his deposition on Friday, Dimon said he had never met or communicated with Epstein.
However, now the emphasis has shifted to whether or not Dimon was ever made aware of the inappropriateness of J.P. Morgan's relationship with Epstein:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/jamie-dimon-says-he-never-discussed-jeffrey-epsteins-accounts-at-jpmorgan-jes-staley-says-dimon-did-b11f0da5 Jamie Dimon Says He Never Discussed Jeffrey Epstein’s Accounts at JPMorgan; Jes Staley Says Dimon Did Former JPMorgan executive Jes Staley said he and Dimon discussed whether to keep Epstein as a client; JPMorgan says that is false A former top
JPMorgan Chase JPM -1.72%decrease; red down pointing triangle executive said in legal documents that for years he communicated with Chief Executive Jamie Dimon about the bank’s business with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—setting the stage for a conflict with his former boss, who maintains he had no such conversations.
Jes Staley’s statements, made in documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal that haven’t been made public, are his first remarks to emerge about conversations between him and Dimon regarding Epstein. The bank on Tuesday said Staley’s statements are false.
The documents are part of the discovery process for a legal fight over
JPMorgan’s connections to Epstein. In the documents, Staley said that Dimon communicated with him when Epstein was arrested in 2006 and in 2008 when Epstein pleaded guilty. Staley also said that Dimon communicated with him various times about whether to maintain
Epstein as a client through 2012.
Epstein was accused of sexually abusing girls in 2006 and pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution. He subsequently spent time in a Florida jail and registered as a sex offender.
Dimon was deposed Friday.
The CEO maintained he has no recollection of ever discussing or reviewing Epstein’s accounts, a JPMorgan spokeswoman said. Dimon
doesn’t believe such conversations with Staley ever happened, the spokeswoman added.
“There is no evidence that any such communications ever occurred—nothing in the voluminous number of documents reviewed and nothing in the nearly dozen depositions taken, including that of our own CEO,” said the spokeswoman. “The one person who claims this to be true is currently accused of horrific acts and dishonesty.”
A lawyer for Staley, who left JPMorgan in 2013, declined to comment.
The statements arose as part of a pair of lawsuits against the bank in a federal court in Manhattan. The government of the U.S. Virgin Islands and an unnamed woman, who said she was abused by Epstein,
sued JPMorgan last year, claiming that the bank facilitated
Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking.
The bank has sought to pin
the bulk of the relationship on Staley and sued him claiming he misled executives about Epstein. The bank in its lawsuit identified Staley as the “powerful financial executive” accused of sexual assault by the woman who is suing JPMorgan. Staley’s lawyers have said the allegations against him are baseless.
Brad Edwards, a lawyer representing the woman, said he is seeking to have Dimon’s deposition unsealed. “Rather than mislead anyone about what was or was not said, why don’t they just agree to release the whole transcript?” Edwards said.
Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges.
He died in jail later that year while awaiting trial.
JPMorgan has said that the lawsuits have no merit and that it didn’t know about Epstein’s alleged sex trafficking before he was arrested in 2019. Staley has denied he knew about Epstein’s alleged trafficking and said he regrets his friendship with Epstein.
Epstein became a JPMorgan client around 1998, and, over the years, the bank came to manage dozens of Epstein-related accounts containing hundreds of millions of dollars, according to the lawsuits.
Epstein
formed a close bond with Staley, who ran the private bank that catered to the firm’s wealthiest clients and later oversaw its investment bank, according to the lawsuits.
In August 2008, a few weeks after Epstein’s guilty plea, a JPMorgan employee sent an email that suggested Dimon would review the Epstein relationship, according to the U.S. Virgin Islands lawsuit. The email states, “I would count Epstein’s assets as a probable outflow for ’08 ($120mm or so?) as I can’t imagine it will stay (pending Dimon review).” The bank has said that there is no record of such a review and that
Dimon doesn’t recall one.
Epstein had one meeting scheduled with both Dimon and Staley, on March 2, 2010, according to documents viewed by the Journal. The JPMorgan spokeswoman said that the meeting wasn’t on Dimon’s calendar and that Dimon didn’t attend.
Epstein remained a client of JPMorgan after his guilty plea, and top executives continued to meet with Epstein as JPMorgan’s compliance department
pressured the bank to drop Epstein, the Journal has reported. JPMorgan has said it cut off Epstein’s accounts in 2013, shortly after Staley left the bank.
NOTE: It should be noted that
Senior executives with the global banking giant JP Morgan maintained contact with disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for years after dropping him as a client in 2013, six years after he was charged with solicitation of a minor, according to a new report.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/ap22/jp-morgan-jeffrey-epstein-contact-deeper-ties#:~:text=Senior%20executives%20with%20the%20global,according%20to%20a%20new%20report.

2023.05.31 19:51 throwaway18687587539 I’m pro life, however I still believe abortion should be permitted in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, here’s why:
When a woman is pregnant, if she dies before the fetus is viable (A.K.A. when the fetus is able to survive outside the womb with medical assistance) then the fetus would not have been able to survive anyways, and thus saving it’s life would not be possible. In such cases, it is more ethical to kill the fetus to save the mother’s life than it would be to let them both die. If a woman is pregnant and she becomes ill while the fetus is viable, then it is possible to save both the life of the fetus and the life of the mother. Situations where it is possible to save the life of the fetus and not the mother are extremely rare. The only situation where it would be possible to save the life of the fetus and not the mother (to my knowledge), would be if the mother was diagnosed with cancer in the early stages of pregnancy, in which case if she received chemotherapy, it would kill the fetus, however if she delayed treatment until the baby was born, it would then survive, but her own chances of survival would dwindle. Deaths like this could easily be prevented by encouraging women to get cancer screenings before they become pregnant. The only situation where it would be possible for a woman to die in a situation like this would be if the pregnancy was unplanned, however if couples use at least two or more compatible birth control methods at the same time (for example condoms paired with the pill) then it should theoretically be impossible for a woman to have an unplanned pregnancy. Unplanned pregnancies (assuming consent was given) are the result of negligence by those who engage in sex without adequate protection. Nevertheless, there is still the possibility of rape. One of the most common arguments used by pro lifer’s to defend the pro life position is that depriving a fetus of it’s right to life, on the grounds that it is a fetus is a form of age discrimination, and that if any given argument would not morally justify the killing of a child after birth, then it should not justify the killing of a child before birth, and while I agree with this statement, it is for that very reason that I believe women should still be permitted to have abortions in cases where the mother’s life is in danger. Some would say that because the fetus is younger, it’s life should be prioritized over that of the mother, however I disagree with this because it would also be age discrimination. In a situation like this, since both the life of the mother and the life of fetus have equal moral worth (in my opinion), killing the fetus to save the mother’s life is not any more or less ethical than killing the mother to save the fetus’s life. You can’t force someone to sacrifice their own life to save the life of someone else. It’s their life, and because it’s their life, they should be the one to decide whether or not they want to sacrifice it, but they should not be forced to do so. It’s not selfish to want to live, and you have no right to criticize any woman for not wanting to die, especially if your a man who will never have to live through something like this. Make no mistake, I am 100% against elective abortion, all death is a tragedy, but there is no comparison between an elective abortion and the circumstances that just described. I believe that in cases like this, the doctor in charge should determine what to do on a case by case basis, factoring into his/her decisions the wishes of the patient or family if they cannot give consent themselves. If it possible for the doctor to save both the life of the mother and the fetus, then he/she should make every every effort to do so before resorting to an abortion, but if my husband and I spend 6 months trying for a baby because we want to start a family, and I’m 4 weeks pregnant and we had every intention of carrying the pregnancy to term and then I find out I have 3rd stage colon cancer. If I make the decision to go forward with chemotherapy and then a few days later the baby I am carrying dies and I naturally miscarry or require that the dead fetus be removed from my body, that isn’t murder, it was merely a casualty of the flaws in our healthcare system. If you are truly pro life, this should concern you because since the overturning of Roe V. Wade, there have been some states that did not make this distinction, and as such, there have been laws passed that do not make an exception in cases where the mothers life is in danger, as a result, there have been cases where many women died because they could not get an abortion, often in cases where it would have been possible to save the fetus’s life anyways. No women in a first world country, or any country for that matter, should have to die due to pregnancy related medical complications. I am 100% against elective abortions, but if the mother’s life is in danger, I think it should be permitted.
Edit: I can’t reply to your comments, AutoMod keeps taking them down because my account has “low karma.”
Edit: Never mind, it appears I was wrong about this:
If you are truly pro life, this should concern you because since the overturning of Roe V. The point I was trying to make by posting this is that there are some people in government who believe abortion should be illegal no matter what, even in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, and that such a mentality is illogical because it would actually result in more deaths than lives it would save. Even though most states make an exception in these cases, there are currently people in government who are trying to ban abortion outright, even in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, and that if they had their way, they would see too it that even in cases where the mother’s life is in danger, that she would not be able to terminate the pregnancy. This is incredibly dangerous and would result in many preventable deaths.

2023.05.31 19:02 Vmagnum Paired weapons question…
A carapace mounted (Warlord) Paired Turbo Laser Destructors has 4 dice at str 8. If one of those weapons has an obscured line of sight (let’s say for a -1), this Warlord is then throwing 2 dice at no modifier and 2 dice at -1, correct? This wouldn’t be 4 dice at no mod and 4 at -1.

I need Help, i just can't figure out what to do, when i look down in a custom outfit in first person i always have a static second pair of boobs like shown in the picture.
Tried to reinstall the skeleton or to use an outdated joy of perspective patch to fix it, tried to delete the first person meshes from my bodies, but that doesn't seem to work either or i'm doing something wrong. If i disable the Improved Camera mod, i still have the static boobs. but i don't have them with vanilla outfits on cbbe sliders.
So what else can i try to do or am i missing something crucial ?
