Since I was a kid I did everything how you are “supposed to”. Got good grades. I was never a tough teenager other than couple of disagreements with mom. I got my masters because that’s what you should do in education. I got a 6 figure job because that’s what you should have achieved. I bought property because that’s how you should manage your finances and I married my best friend because that’s what make marriage last. I did all this before I turned 28.
Now I know there is no one formula to have successful marriage but that’s one criteria I kept in mind while I was getting second thoughts. We have only been married for 6 months and I think I made a mistake.
I married him because he is caring, treats me equally, had good humor and is my best and only friend (I live on different continent than my family and friend). Somehow These qualities are not enough.
We do not have emotional or sexual connection. We used to have great sex life but now it’s once in a month. Before marriage everyone told me I can’t find a match more perfect than him. He is a great guy and I agree he is. But there is no emotional connection.

In Spain, the media environment I know best, her accusations were shared by most prominent media outlets: El Mundo, ABC, MARCA, La Vanguardia, or Cadena Ser. Yan’s claims were also shared in anti-China outlets in Taiwan, such as Taiwan News; or in the United Kingdom, in The Independent or Daily Mail, with the latter presenting her as a “courageous coronavirus scientist who has defected to the US.” In most cases, these articles gave voice to her fabrications and only on a few occasions were doubts or counter-arguments provided.
Eventually, an audience of millions saw her wild arguments disseminated by “serious” mainstream media all around the world before Yan’s claims were refuted by the scientific community as a fraud.
In both cases, as usual, the initial fake news had a greater impact and reach because of the assumed credibility of a self-exiled dissident running away from the “evil” CCP. Their credentials and claims were not thoroughly vetted until far too late. Anti-China news has come to be digested with gusto by Western audiences. Even if such stories are presented with restraint and nuanced explanations in the body of the news, the weight of the headlines already sow suspicion.
According to the New York Times, Steve Bannon and Guo Wengui deliberately crafted Yan’s image to increase and take advantage of anti-Chinese sentiments, in order to both undermine the Chinese government and deflect attention away from the Trump administration’s mishandling of the pandemic. I adopted a guinea pig about four months ago, she is two years old. She was a singleton whose companion passed a year previously. She had a nice 3x2 cage with a loft. The first day I met her, and the first month I had her, she licked my face and hands everyday. She was super sweet and affectionate. I really enjoyed our time together.
About a month in, she became pretty low energy and didn't come out like she had previously done. I started looking for a companion for her. She also started biting me to the point of bleeding. Her body language was pretty hard to read because she would be doing something like licking my fingers, while being affectionate, and then she would just lunge without warning and bite me. One she bites, she doesn't let go and it's extremely painful. The bites are sometimes taking weeks to heal.
I successfully bonded her with another pig and they're very sweet. I hoped her personality would come back and hoped the aggression would go away once she had a companion. Her new companion is completely untamed, but I am able to move them to their play area with a tunnel. My first guinea pig will come over for me to pet her or smoosh into me sometimes. If I ever pick her up or walk around with her, she will draw my blood (it's bizarre this only happened a month into having her). Nothing about our routine changed, but her behavior did.
I talked to her previous owner and she said she never bit them.

• She has a 4x2 c and c cage. It is cleaned sometimes biweekly.
• They get fresh veggies, pellets, water, and hay daily.
• I bring them treats, change up their cage with different toys and hideys weekly, and come up with some really fun enrichment ideas for them.
• They have an exercise play area where we hang out outside or outside of their cage with new toys.

I'm at the point now where I have a guinea pig I'm afraid of and one that is completely petrified of me. I've read tons of articles, watched tons of youtube videos learning different sounds etc. I'm a little lost as to why she had such an extreme behavior change towards me.

TDLR: 35, speech impediment (stroke), wife, toddler, own house outright, no income, no real experience (IMO), what should I do? Should I retrain in something I’m not interested that can provide income for my family? Perth based.
I feel really lost and am in limbo. I have a finance degree with first class honours, graduating at the top of my class 13 years ago. Means absolutely nothing as my career never truly got going.
I’ve been fired from 3 jobs (2 for political reasons and one for lack on suitability in 2013); been made redundant from 2 jobs - that’s my whole career.
Most of my experience stems across financial journalism (6 years - made redundant) where I researched and analysed investment markets, commodities and stocks. I wrote quite comprehensive research and analytical reports. But the issue is my experience was at a publishing company - and it an investment bank - even though I have a good grasp of financial markets.
Then I had a stroke and went mute at 32. I have recovered my speech 80-90% in 3.5 years and can converse reasonably well, especially in the mornings. My main issue is speaking under pressure and finding the words in my head to use (aphasia) and it takes me a split second longer to understand language. 90% of the time this isn’t a problem. But when I’m explained a high level / new concept, I hear the words but they don’t process as quickly as before my stroke in my brain. I have to go away and think about it to let them sink in and understand. My spelling has also gone to shit, but thank god for spell check! So I’m alright here
My stroke is a massive disadvantage.
Around 8-months post stroke, I landed my first real corporate job as an analyst. I worked on the researching, analysing, and writing the prospectus for the IPO. I worked on researching and analysing mining projects to find new opportunities for the firm, and trend / competitor research and analysis, building presentations for the board and business development team. I built strong relationships and enjoyed my work. But the company self-imploded due to corporate greedy executives and there were huge redundancies mid last year, and I was one of them unfortunately.
Around October last year, I landed a really good job as an analyst at a ASX top 200 mining company. I didn’t have much financial modelling experience (I said that I had loads), so I learnt financial modelling in the two weeks before I started. I worked on the corporate DCF model and built a comprehensive/integrated revenue model in excel for the firm. My revenue total lined up with the corporate DCF built by professional modellers, and the senior management team were discussing whether to integrate my model into the corporate DCF. I also helped build investor and board PowerPoint presentations and write the quarterlies. Before Xmas last year, my boss was really pleased with me and really wanted me to stay
Anyhow, around late Jan, my boss said to me “why do you always ask me what to do when I have explained to you detailed instructions”. I was caught off guard since I had been performing in the role. I replied, “it’s prob Becuase I like to do things right the first time, rather than doing the task over and over and wasting your time. You wouldn’t like that and it would waste your time”. Boss agreed.
I knew it was my stroke and a processing speed issue. When my boss explained something to me, it often went over my head since I felt under pressure. So I went away and thought about it before Going back and asking for clarification, prior to starting the task. I would also keep my boss updated with where I’m at in the task.
Two weeks later I was let go for “not being senior enough” towards the end of probation, despite doing everything they asked at a high level. I was paid three months salary in advance despite being let go during probation.
I asked the CFO and my boss at my dismissal meeting whether they would put the company on my CV (4-5 months). The CFO replied, “if it was me, I wouldn’t - just talk at what you have done in this job at your next interview”. They also said that they wouldn’t be a reference - I wouldn’t have used them anyway. But I did a lot of great things in that role.
I’m absolutely exhausted, unmotivated and dejected.
2019 - redundancy 2019 - stroke 2021 - redundancy 2022 - fired
My first class honours degree has eventuated to nothing. I have knock after knock after knock.
I’m totally over my career, or there lack of. I don’t know what I should and am in limbo. But I’m not in my 20s anymore and need to consider my wife and child.
Should I throw in the towel and study something like surveying or design drafting at tafe, something I’m not really passionate about but can offer a good stable life for my family.
I’d move around Australia to relaunch my career, but there’s a housing shortage nearly everywhere.
My speech impediment certainly adds to the weight I feel.
Sorry for the rant - just stuck in a rut and don’t know what to do about it

I’m mildly autistic (Asperger’s Disease) and don’t realize the way I communicate at times. I’m being told I get loud or that I treat people like they’re an idiot. I feel like I’m ruining the best relationship I’ve ever had, and really want to be better. What are some tips and tricks to be better at how I communicate with people?

She’s always doing massive hauls for herself. She has the money to really spoil the cats and get them a big tree or kitty window hammocks, yet I never see her buy something that isn’t treats for them? My partner and I have even been trying to get our cats used to walking on a harness outside so they aren’t confined to just an apartment despite them having lots of places to perch and things to play with. She really thinks the cats get the same rush as her from eating food instead of getting something to enrich them!

Hi everyone,
Seeing as Apollo may be going down and many may leave Reddit, I thought I’d post my HF journey and recovery in the hopes that many may see it and benefit.
I’m a health worker so some of the writing is a bit medically. Apologies for the length.
Right sided penile pain began in approx September 2022, worse on erection. Urinary symptoms gradually began, increased frequency and urgency. Erectile issues also began at same time and gradually increased, difficulty getting and maintaining erections. Penile pain persists. Noticed bend, bottle necking and shortening of penis, with hard palpable lump at area of pain. Saw urologist Dr Simon Van Rij in Nov 2022, impression no significant red flags, could be pelvic floor issue so referred to physio and recommended USS. Physio commenced March 2023 but USS not done yet. Currently wanting to rule out Peyronie’s as penile/erectile symptoms have worsened. Saw Dr Mark Morunga (Essential Men’s clinic Auckland); impression Peyronie’s and recommended P-shot following USS confirmation of plaque. Penile USS showed normal vascularity and no tissue thickening, but unable to rule out early Peyronie’s.
1/6/23 Began identifying more with Hard flaccid syndrome (HF) as I was felt that the penile deformity was more of an indentation (right upper lateral shaft, just beneath the glans) than a bend or curvature). Researched HF subreddits and found several users who had reported a complete or almost near complete recovery from HF using a combination of posture corrective exercises, psoas muscle stretching, pelvic floor stretching, and various strengthening exercises (glues, core). Began treatment on 18/5/23 using Scott Herman AP tilt correction exercise YouTube video and pelvic floor stretching routine at least once daily (some days twice) and noticed significant improvement in penile temperature, sensitivity, flaccid hang, penile fullness and erection quality within first two weeks. Morning elections and spontaneous erections are also returning. Having some lower back pain when doing glue bridge holds for glutes.
After months of agony I finally feel like I’m effectively recovering and on my way back to normal. Interestingly, I masturbated on 29/5/24 and felt absolutely rock hard with less effort than before I had HF. When I performed a level in my hard state my cock barely moved because it already felt like it was in kegel mode. My hypothesis is that HF is possibly an advanced symptom AP tilt and pelvic floor tightness.
One of the things that shocked me about this whole journey was how little academic information exists about HF. Being effectively cured by using Reddit has been both amazing and kinda hilarious. I would love to see this issue researched in depth because I think the treatments for HF have many benefits for overall penile and sexual health in healthy individuals. Additionally, the treatment is easy, free, and non-invasive making it tremendously accessible. I now only know too well the suffering that HF can cause, and the euphoria that a strong healthy cock can bring (or bring back) with this wonderful treatment.

Mine is a hot shower. Sure, I like playing roleplaying games and watching stuff on streaming as much as the next guy, but hot water on my skin? That's where it's at. Sometimes you have to appreciate the simple things in life.
There are other things I like, of course. Aside from the aforementioned roleplaying games (see the second half of my username to find out which ones), I'm a big fan of technology, hockey, and animals. I have 2 cats and a bearded dragon, and am happy to share pics of any of them!
I haven't talked about myself professionally yet, and that's because there isn't much to say. I'm still in college, because I took a looong break from it and worked retail for a while because of mental health issues and later the pandemic. I'm in an engineering field and am hoping that'll go well. So no, my shit is not yet together, but when it is together, it'll be REALLY together.
So... politics and religion. Touchy subject which I'm approaching with all the grace of a bull in a china shop, but suffice it to say, I'm an atheist and I'm pretty far to the left. I staunchly refuse to date a conservative (not that they'd be particularly interested in my "child murder" supporting ass anyway), but I honestly don't care if you believe in a higher power, the universe, reincarnation, the flying spaghetti monster, whichever you like. Just keep in mind that I won't believe in them.
Oh, and one other important thing I won't do - reproduce. My bloodline dies with me, as a friend once told me. I don't hate children, though I do feel a certain discomfort around them (was the youngest growing up, never really had to change a diaper or whatever), like I don't know what to say or how to behave. But that's not the main reason I don't want kids. Mostly it's because I have mental health issues that I've been struggling with throughout my life and I think that even if I did want to have kids, it would be selfish of me to pass that on.
Physically, I'm 135 lb, five foot five inches, I have brown hair, blue eyes and I'm white. Picture will be available upon request. I prefer women who are average or slender like me. Oh, and you can be any height, I don't care, I only mention it because you likely do and I don't want an awkward situation where you start talking to me and find out I'm too short for your liking.
Penultimate paragraph. What I'm looking for right now is intimacy of any kind really. Long term would be nice, short term would be perfectly acceptable. I find it difficult to meet people using apps (I'm a 5.5 on a good day, and I know it), and IRL I'm surrounded by 18-22 year olds who are either A) too young or B) have no interest in me.

I'd like to share pictures early, and ideally video call early. I have no patience for women with "broken phones" as I've encountered time and time again. I'm sorry, that trick is just not believable if it's been the case with 4 separate women I've talked to on here. if you're not willing to prove you are who you say you are, I have no interest in you.

Hello! I have a lovely little rescue dog. She has a great personality, and really only has one thing that I would like some advice on. Particularly when she is tried, if you try to pet/move her she will growl at you. I have tried to give her treats prior to touching, and this sometimes helps but not consistently. Does anyone have any other tips? Or will she always be like this?

You are an "other-worlder", you came to this planet through a portal for whatever reason you can come up with, maybe you're on the run, maybe you were sent here as a scout, maybe you were just curious, but your backstory should always end with you entering the portal from your home planet to be transported to Oob. Keep in mind, whatever you left in your old world, can also find its way to Oob... Your ideals should also be that of which you want to go on an adventure, and preferably line up chaotically for the Chromatic kingdom, or lawful for the Metallic kingdom.
The game will be ran with 2 Dungeon masters. That is to say, 2 separate campaigns in the same world run at the same time. We are looking for 8 players, 2 groups of 4. There will be sessions that involve all of us together, but most of the time it will be the typical makeup of 4 players and your DM. You will choose whether to play through either the Metallic campaign or the Chromatic campaign.
Choices you make matter! Not only could they change your campaign, they can change the other players campaign, and the world. There can and will be consequences and rewards, we are aiming for a living world that evolves all the time. I will not tolerate arguing after I have decided on a ruling, and things may change after the "heat of the moment" ruling. I also will treat everyone as an adult and don’t sugar coat things. All that being said, the games I run have been received very well, I offer voices, streaming, custom homebrew, and a strong balance between roleplay, exploration, and combat. I to tend a little more towards RP though. I am open to ideas that you may have and will do my best to reach a balance everyone can enjoy. I hope to see you at the table!
We offer a serious game for anyone interested, players will have access to all the DnDbeyond content. We ask you base your toon concept off of official books, and no UA doesn't count. We will be playing on foundry VTT and using discord for voice, If you want to use a camera even better but not a requirement. Please keep in mind this material may be streamed so have an Avatar portrait available and understand that your voice will show up on any of the streams.
About the Setting -
The planet of Oob, a world ruled by the 3 kingdoms of dragons, Metallic, Chromatic, and Gems. The 3 kingdoms are at constant strife with each other, each believing their way of living is right. The Metallics believe that the world should be united under them, their citizens pledging allegiance to the great Bahamut. The Chromatics on the other hand believe that everyone should live freely, pledging fealty to the dragons and offering tribute to live in their land. The Gems believe everyone should live freely, but they take a more neutral approach. They focus more on bringing peace to the 3 kingdoms and allow their citizens to live in their territories unhindered by the dragons. This has led to the land outside of the Gem cities to be very dangerous as the other-worlders live without oversight. The dragons differencing beliefs have led the world to be at a constant war. To make matters more tense, the world is scattered with portals acting as doors from other worlds, a much larger portal in the center of the world is said to connect all the worlds. Through these portals, otherworldly denizens constantly stream through, making up the population of the planet, you are one of these individuals. Whatever your reason for coming to Oob, you quickly find that there's no turning back, the portal you came through is only 1 way. You start to panic, realizing your trapped here. Soon after, a friendly crystalline humanoid approaches you. The person calms you down and takes you to a hidden abode, where a magic circle on the ground whisks you away to a beautiful city made of various gemstones. Buildings, structures, monuments, and even the roads are made of gemstones of all kinds including; Amethyst, sapphire, emerald, topaz, and crystal. You marvel at the architecture for only few moments before another humanoid, this one's skin seems to be a shade of shiny blue, comes to you and leads you to a barracks-like encampment where you are allowed to be at ease, your role in this world has not yet been decided. Tomorrow you will meet with a dragon to find out where you belong.

I just need to rant. So a cole’s notes of my relationship with my grandma:
-she essentially raised my sister and I while my parents both worked. She was a fantastic grandma who took us out and did stuff with us, and I have a ton of great memories of little traditions we had
-she’s been chronically sick with stomach issues and fibromyalgia/arthritis etc since he mid 30s (she was an immigrant who never had her very obvious childhood mild scoliosis dealt with). She deals with a lot of pain
Up until I was 23/24 I tried to visit her every other week or every 3 weeks to have dinner with her after work and spend some time with her once my grandpa died and she was left alone in her apartment.
When I was 25 she joined a Romanian Orthodox Church because in her mind “she had to get baptized or else she wouldn’t get into heaven”. This came with a whole bunch of life changes such as needing to wear skirts and not cut her hair and overall becoming preachy when my very atheist family brought up that we just didn’t believe in any of that. To make matters worse, the church elders had a long history of sexually assaulting women and just being hypocrites. Then her previously accepting attitude of me being gay turned to her starting to say things like, “you need to find a friend like [my ex]… you know what I mean, I can’t say the word anymore, but you know” and then just regressed to “maybe this is a sign you’re meant to be with a woman” after I left a 6 year toxic relationship.
The tipping point has been the treatment of her daughter, my mom. Because we’re Eastern European, there’s a stupid mentality that the daughter must take care of the parents. My mom is amazing, smart, accomplished and well known in her industry. After years of working hard she has finally retired and now is going back to school to get her degree as a personal goal.
My grandma constantly drops, “I don’t get why you’re working still, I thought you’d retire and come visit me every day - you just don’t want to spend time with me” - which fills my mom with such guilt. And my mom’s brother gets off with barely being involved or seeing my grandma but it’s not an issue because “he’s working and he has a job”.
We’ve moved her into a home at the age of 75 and she is irate about it. She constantly berates my mom for not taking her in and complains about how she doesn’t belong in a home and it’s embarrassing for her that her church friends see her in there. She’s gotten to the point where she can’t bathe, dress, cook or care for herself and has been in the hospital for multiple recurring UTIs. She gets dehydrated and septic and goes into states of delirium which results in her shitting and pissing and being stranded on the floor for hours until she can drag herself to a phone. And my mom feels so selfish for not taking her in but at the same time doesn’t want to deal with all that because it’s essentially a full time job. My mom also just cannot lift and care for her when she gets in these states, and at least at the home she gets 3 full meals and bathed and taken care of.
It’s gotten to the point where my mom comes home and cries after visiting her or talking to her on the phone 3 times a day and it makes me really despise my grandma and the bitter person she has become who can’t accept that she’s old and needs care. My mom doesn’t stand up to her because she’s afraid they’ll get in a fight and my grandma will die and her last words will be something mean. I just can’t stand her now and how she treats my mom but it makes me feel so ungrateful and guilty
