Just updated my game because EA Launcher won't allow me to play the game offline. I usually avoid it, but EA Launcher rarely lets me. EA Launcher won't even work properly. How does checking the "Remember Me" box make you unable to sign in?
I'm going through a stressful time, so I downloaded bunch of very cool CC. I even replaced my usual CC that breaks after updates beforehand. I open the game. The gallery isn't working at all. I try a couple more times. Deleted the cache. Nothing.
Sims is a 20 year old game, possibly the biggest gaming franchise in its industry. The Sims 4 is almost a decade old. The switch to EA Launcher was stupid enough. But why is there always an issue with every other update? Do the devs just release updates due deadline? Why does nobody check it? Appearently this issue is for everyone, and they've been trying to fix it for a couple days now. Why does a multi-million company always face so many software issues? Is it actually necessary to have so many updates every 2-3 weeks?
I'm so tired and sad. I won't be able to play it for a good 2 weeks even if they manage to fix the issue. I'm very disappointed. Sims 4 is barely a play worthy game, my only happiness comes from the CAS section.

Hello! I’m a 22 year old EMS worker out of Texas, though I’m originally from South America. I’ve moved quite a bit around the states, and its been a long time since I’ve really had time to make friends. I’m a bit socially award anyway, so it’s not too easy in person. I’ve never done snail mail for a pen pal, but I’d like to if we end up getting along! I’m also happy to just email. Some things about me: - Big bookworm, love all things historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, or adventure - Love different TV shows and movies, nothing too niche, I just like discovering new ones or talking about ones we’ve both seen - Massive, and I do mean MASSIVE music nerd. I love everything from musicals (whether that be Broadway, movies, or shows) to pop to rock to country, ranging over any decade, really. I also play a few instruments. Just for hobby, I’m not a pro. - I’ve got two ferrets, and they’re my pride and joy. Locke and Apollo. - I do like to drink, as in I enjoy tasting and mixing drinks. I am largely a whiskey fan, and like trying new ones. Maybe we can taste test and review (if you’re of legal drinking age, of course). - My job gives me quite a few interesting adventures (and a few more emotional ones) and it might be nice to be able to unwind or chat with someone else who might understand (so, nurses, EMS, medics, etc, maybe we could share our vents or super weird stories). - I enjoy working with my hands, and I’m trying to pick up woodcarving. Nothing crazy, just small things, maybe I could make my first little object and send it to you! - I do enjoy creative writing, and prose and poetry are things I’d like to get more into. -I like cooking, although I’m not very good at it. I’m trying to get better, and any tips tricks and recipes would be awesome. - I am trying to get into drawing, though I’m pretty horrible at it so far. - I enjoy the outdoors, parks, rivers, trails, or just sitting in the sunlight and enjoying the breeze (granted, it would be much better if it wasn’t so hot and humid here). - I love tattoos. I currently have 8 (5 palm sized or bigger and 3 little ones), and would like several more. - I am the only child of a pastor and a missionary and my relationship with religious is… complicated to say the least. I’d love to talk deep with someone regarding this, theology, spirituality, or other things, it doesn’t have to be religion. -Lastly, I’m trying to get into plants! I want to grow a few things, and learn to care for them. Maybe in the future I can grow herbs for use in the kitchen (see above where I say I try to cook. Keyword, “try.”)

On se2 ep10 “Bust Out”, there’s a scene where Tony is at the sporting goods store, and Davey is asleep in one of the tents.
They begin talking and Davey mentions a time when they were young, “at Garret Mountain, a bunch of guidos from Patterson had Tone barricaded in his father’s car and Davey whipped that rock and hit that guy in the eye.”
Tone’s response is, “Don’t reminisce on me.”
This is a old story I would have definitely liked to have heard more about. Never noticed it before but was a good touch to Davey’s character. Stand up guy when he wasn’t gambling. Would have made for a good scene for The Many Saints. Robert Patrick is an outstanding actor.

when i was a little kid (maybe 5 years old at most, so somewhere between 2001-2006), we rented either a vhs tape or a dvd from blockbuster. it was a hello kitty tv show/movie or maybe a collection of shorts. in one of the last scenes, i distinctly remember the frog character jumping off this red bridge that went over a little river. i’m almost positive that it was intentional, not an accidental fall. after he jumped off, his ghost flew up into the sky as all of his friends said goodbye and cried. i don’t have a ton of details since i was so young, but i can draw a couple of shots that i can remember compositionally if that would help anyone.
i had no concept of death at that age, let alone suicide, so i wouldn’t have had the ability to come up with that on my own. i remember being really scared and hiding under the covers until i eventually cried myself to sleep. i was the only one awake/watching the tv at the time so i’m the only one that would be able to remember this happening.

So I was at an awareness event volunteering as a photographer, anyway event has concluded and I’m on my merry way and I stop at a bridge over a river to take some landscape shots. Anyway this random group of people come over and they are kind of loud and it’s a group meeting or something. Anyway they want someone to take a photo of them. They clearly expect me to, I’m already there just minding my own business. Then they are like “if only there was someone who likes to take photos around.” As I was ignoring them at first. Anyway I take the photo for them. Anyone else ever have an interaction like this where people see you with a camera and assume you want to take their photo or ask you to do a spontaneous photoshoot?

Listen... really LISTEN... to Eric Clapton. You'll quickly (and probably reluctantly) come to the conclusion that he's just stringing together an admittedly very large cache of 2-4 measure motifs that he's literally been playing since he was in Cream. He puts them in a different order every time, but if he's learned a new lick since 1970, I'm not sure I've heard it.

Yes and no. The real trick to improvisation is sneaky preparation. In other words, learning licks.
It's all well and good to think of improv as just drawing from this well of subconscious creativity, but in truth, we are mostly just stringing pre-learned shit together in a different order. Listen... really LISTEN... to Eric Clapton. You'll quickly (and probably reluctantly) come to the conclusion that he's just stringing together an admittedly very large cache of 2-4 measure motifs that he's literally been playing since he was in Cream. He puts them in a different order every time, but if he's learned a new lick since 1970, I'm not sure I've heard it.

Has anyone else with this chip had or noticed the red CPU light is permanently illuminated on their board? I can't say how long it has been like that, since I haven't had any issues that really jumped out at me as far as my PC is concerned. I'm just trying to determine what some causes of this might be.

Over the last weeks, I have been diving once again in the discography of The National. This time I really decided to take my time and listen to every song on repeat, taking in the lyrics and looking up comments the band made about the songs. Result: I love this band more than ever, have a playlist of over 100 tracks that I really love and discovered some great songs that somehow remained under my radar so far or I didn't appreciate as much as I do now. I wanted to share with you some songs here that I feel deserve the spotlight and should be more part of the conversation, hoping you might enjoy them too if you didn't already. I started writing down my thoughts and decided to keep it to some songs from their first album as this was taking me more time than I thought. Maybe I'll make another post with more songs that I rediscovered if this can start some discussion.

- The Perfect Song: Matt reminiscing in his own Matt way about a past relationship that clearly didn’t end well. I love the lyricism and even though it's one of their earliest works, you already see a lot of themes present that will come back even in FTPOF. "I tried to look at you but I couldn't break the ice" - classic Matt struggling to find the right words, a theme coming back in more recent Tropic Morning News for example. I also love the line "Sometimes I can feel your weight when I close my eyes. Seven times I was under you", maybe it's just me, but that cracks me up. Another line I love, that has The National all over it: "Shallow frame and shaky sticks but I know there's a river in me", this is also the best part of the song.
- Bitters & Absolut: Matt's singing is deliciously nonchalant and laid-back here, plus the hook is super catchy. The title already hints at it, but one of the more notorious themes of The National comes forward here, alcohol: "I'd do better than you ever will - When I am on Bitters and Absolut". "Your bottom lip is bleeding, I cut it on your collarbone" is also a line I feel you can only find back in a Matt Berninger lyric. This is the perfect song to play as you lay back in the comfort of your own home, enjoy an afternoon vodka cocktail accompanied by pure nothingness.
- American Mary: Not sure if this can be considered as underrated or unknown, especially since it's the name of their official website. For a long time, this one was the only song I listened to from the self-titled album. The other very well-known National theme, being 'water', also subtly makes its way in this song "It takes a lot of little rain to make you feel like nothing". The song is, again, so catchy, Matt is a wizard when it comes to finding the right melody.
- Theory of the Crows: In the earlier days of the band, Matt focused way more on the unfairness and pointlessness of the corporate world. And so he does here in the Theory of the Crows. Also something that’s typical for the early National songs, is the explicitness. Just listen to this: "I'll suck off investors, I'll suck off VCs. I'm losing my posture from time on my knees". And I must say, I love this version of Matt. He gets even more unhinged in the following album. I'm so happy we can still experience this part of The National.
- 29 Years: This is very much an outlier in terms of style and tone. There's something very dark, deterministic in Matt's voice, giving the vibe of a drunk guy who just picked up the mic at the end of the wedding of his ex. And I think that's also exactly what they went for. To all National fans, '29 years' will of course ring a bell. And indeed, they actually reused some of the lyrics to make one of the best songs ever recorded 6 years later.

2023.06.03 23:16 Puppykerry My UFO sighting/has anyone ever seen Fibonacci spirals in the sky?
I was camping in Galeton PA about five years ago during the height of the perseids meteor shower. Galeton is one of the few “dark forests” in the US where no man made light penetrates. It was late (probably around 1am) and my then girlfriend and I were the only people still awake, hanging by our campfire. Suddenly I noticed when I looked into the sky that the entire sky - I mean every inch of night - was a swirling mass of interlocking Fibonacci spirals. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. When my girlfriend came back from the restroom, I told her to look at the sky. Before I could comment on what I was seeing, she said (direct quote) “spirals, spirals everywhere” we watched them for awhile, until they seemed to get faster and larger, almost as if the sky were about to open.
We were so overwhelmed that we decided to take a walk and so we headed down to a man made reservoir just down the way from the campsite to just calm down a little. When we got out from under the trees and looked up, not only was the sky still a swirling, interlocking pattern of Fibonacci spirals, we could quite literally see the magnetic poles, the rotation of the earth. When I looked to the tree line I could see the silvery flash of stars whipping up and over the earth almost like white static on a TV set. I noticed at this point that I could see the earths rotation and that it was not only side to side but almost as if we were rotating up in space.
As we were observing all of this, we both spotted an orange/red orb that appeared to burst out of nothing before it began hopping across the sky like a waterbug. We followed it to where it stopped dead suddenly, almost as if disguising itself as just another star. I said to my girl - “it’s almost as if it knows we are looking at it” - right then, as soon as I said that, it exploded like a slow firework or a dandelion blowing away and was gone.
Immediately after, another one of these orange red orbs seemed to burst out of nowhere and began to skip/hop along the sky. We followed that one to where it suddenly jumped a great distance, and then immediately back to its starting point (impossible seeming) it hovered for a moment before about four to five smaller, brownish red objects seemed to come from nowhere as if pulled by some force/tractor beam. They circled around the larger orb as if in orbit exactly one full rotation before the larger orb seemed to be flung like a slingshot and disappeared instantly.
I thought surely we can’t see another one of these. Right then my girlfriend pointed and said “look, there’s two over there” - I looked, and sure enough, coming from opposite directions, two more orbs. Thankfully that never happened.
The next day we sat in the river and again discussed how mind blowing what we had seen was. I wanted to tell people right away. She thought we shouldn’t say anything because it wa special and if we did, maybe they would never reveal themselves to us again.
I am 100% convinced of what we saw and to this day think about it nearly everyday. Has anyone else ever seen something like this?

We were so overwhelmed that we decided to take a walk and so we headed down to a man made reservoir just down the way from the campsite to just calm down a little. When we got out from under the trees and looked up, not only was the sky still a swirling, interlocking pattern of Fibonacci spirals, we could quite literally see the magnetic poles, the rotation of the earth. When I looked to the tree line I could see the silvery flash of stars whipping up and over the earth almost like white static on a TV set. I noticed at this point that I could see the earths rotation and that it was not only side to side but almost as if we were rotating up in space.
As we were observing all of this, we both spotted an orange/red orb that appeared to burst out of nothing before it began hopping across the sky like a waterbug. We followed it to where it stopped dead suddenly, almost as if disguising itself as just another star. I said to my girl - “it’s almost as if it knows we are looking at it” - right then, as soon as I said that, it exploded like a slow firework or a dandelion blowing away and was gone.
Immediately after, another one of these orange red orbs seemed to burst out of nowhere and began to skip/hop along the sky. We followed that one to where it suddenly jumped a great distance, and then immediately back to its starting point (impossible seeming) it hovered for a moment before about four to five smaller, brownish red objects seemed to come from nowhere as if pulled by some force/tractor beam. They circled around the larger orb as if in orbit exactly one full rotation before the larger orb seemed to be flung like a slingshot and disappeared instantly.
I thought surely we can’t see another one of these. Right then my girlfriend pointed and said “look, there’s two over there” - I looked, and sure enough, coming from opposite directions, two more orbs. Tip #1: Abuse Wall Hops
- This is probably the most low-elo relevant tip I can give because being aware of this makes this matchup 10x easier. This tip doesn't just apply to Nocturne, but any melee champion that can stat check you early that low elo Graves players commonly struggle with such as Warwick, Trundle, and Olaf. In the bottom and top river there are many walls you can hop over so when engaging in river skirmishes, abuse them to survive. Too many Graves players feel like they need to 1v1 the enemy jungler at lvl 3 when the reality is, you are playing a scaling champion and 90% of the time, if a champion beats you in a level 3 fight, you are going to hard outscale them later because they are early/mid game characters. The key to early game is to balance efficiency and matching the pressure of the enemy jungler. As a low elo player, always bank on safe options being good because the games will be longer and you can always take small losses early on in order to have higher tempo (econ) so you can carry later in the game.
- Pretty much every single bruiser and tank jungler struggles later in the game against Graves because they can't deal with his mobility. Take build options such as Fleet Footwork, Black Cleaver, Stormrazor, and Galeforce to give yourself infinite spacing like Gojo from JJK. 90% of Nocturne kill pressure comes from his fear, and if you take the mobility to escape his fear tether range, he will have no more mobility options to reach you after his ult. This makes champions like Kaisa and Ezreal a nightmare for Nocturne to deal with because he is a sitting duck after his ult and fear are down. Olaf struggles late game for the same reason, being dashless and having to run at his opponents to kill them. This works well at level 6 because ranged carries haven't hit their core item spikes, but later in the game the combination of mobility and damage makes champs like Nocturne and Olaf fall off a cliff in teamfight value.
- Nocturne is a farming jungler which makes him easy to track. 90% of the time he is going to full clear to a side lane and hit the same gank timing around 3:15-3:30. You should path to a winning side lane matchup so that you can counter his gank around this timing. But it is important to monitor the lane state as you clear, because if your side lane is pushing, the enemy jungler can break his full clear and gank at any point after level 3 if the side laners are trading heavily and low hp. If the Nocturne paths the opposite way from you, you are already in a good position to trade jungle pressure evenly which benefits you because you will outscale as long as you pathed to a winning lane. In the video example, I end up doing a full clear for efficiency because I notice my bot lane wasn't trading at all and Nocturne wouldn't disrupt his tempo for a full HP gank which has much lower success rate. After the first ganks, Nocturne will repeat his full clear sequence. With tracking you will always know which quadrant he is in. Just pair that knowledge with awareness of the adjacent lane states, and you will be able to predict basically 100% of his ganks in the early game. The major advantage you have in this matchup is that Nocturne falls off hard and you really just need to match his early/mid game pressure 1 for 1 by using your 'jungle turns' effectively. Play to your winning lanes, and having matching turns is very easy. Your champion will naturally outscale from there, but you still need to have the mechanics and late game macro to carry the game, but that is a separate topic.
