Distributed mental health resources to 5000+ students, successfully argued in front of federal agencies, tracked over 1,000 instances of discrimination, and was featured in several national and international news publications. I also was awarded a very large grant ($50K+) to collaborate with local community groups to transform my community (which has a reputation for bigotry/racism), and worked closely with the campaign staff of several local candidates in their efforts.
- Legal Internship (11-12th) - interned with a team of partners + associates at a T50 law firm in the US. - Alumni (9/10) - from an alumni of my high school who I work with on a weekly basis on EC #2. She's written lots of letters for me in the past for scholarships/summer programs, so it should be pretty good and speak to my advocacy efforts.
- Counselor (?/10) - my class size is pretty big, so I've heard she mostly writes everyone the same letter, but I've met with her a lot this past semester with regards to my coursework, and she mentioned that she'll elaborate on the fact that my courseload is more rigorous than any other student in my class.

I'm nervous that my GPA/Rank isn't super competitive and my Awards & Letters of Rec aren't anything spectacular. I would love any honest opinions on my chances and any recommendations for schools to apply to/things to change.

2023.05.30 21:49 Dear-Tomatillo6380 How to get out of an business relationship and ownership stake
Background and context: I had a mentor who was a boss of mine until a month or so ago. I asked how he could help me about two years ago get into and start building a portfolio of assets. We started an LLC together and here are the order of events so far since inception (July 2021): 1.) Started an entity 2.) Middle of 2022 found a deal to purchase two Salt Water Disposal Wells in Texas. Around the same time I put some capital down for an oil brokerage deal through him. You buy from some crude hauling company and sell to another and take the arbitrage. We're also working towards being an LP in a trucking company with $0 capital down. The way we're doing $0 down is basically helping the purchaser structure the deal, who isn't financially savvy but knows how to run and operate a company like this. 3.) He convinced me that we should form an operating company and operate the wells. I suggested that we just hire a third party operator since we aren't PE's but he insisted on this being the way since he's done this in the past. We did this through the RRC of Texas and had a P5 operating number to manage the wells. Through this we needed an operating agreement so we got that signed. When he signed it looks like he crossed out every sections header. I didn't notice because he was the second signature and the one who shared it with the bank. 4.) I invest in a brokerage deal with him where the capital was supposed to return in 4 months. 4.) After a month or so, I wanted to ensure we were properly documenting all of the documents across the business, crossing our t's and dotting our i's per se. I did this and found 6 wells I had never heard of under our operating entity. I brought this up with documentation to him, he profusely apologized because it was just supposed to be a placeholder. 5.) I accepted his apology and the workaround was to get me off of the LLC, co-own a "parent" entity which owns 50% of the "operating" entity. So this way I had no liability in the operating entity but financial upside in the deal. Again, acting as a 'mentor' this is what we came to a conclusion of. It seemed fair to both parties due to the mishap. 6.) Around the end of last year he was threatened by the company that sold us the wells that they would take back the wells along with up to 1mm of damages done to the mismanagement of the property. They sent and addressed this to him since he's on file as the sole operator of the entity that operates the wells. I saw the letter because it came to our shared mailbox. Their claim was we didn't transfer the pit permit of which I had no clue needed to be done, and of which he didn't know because he doesn't know as much as he leads on to. Had we just contract operated this deal none of this would be an issue, but he doesn't give credence to that fact, just carries on as if the company that's threatening to sue knows nothing and that it would all be fine. 7.) He "handles it" and meets with the team who threatened that and talked them off the ledge. Or so he tells me. This has been where we've left that hiccup since. It's important to note at this point which was 2 months ago I'm thinking about how can I separate myself completely from this deal. I don't think I have risk the way it's structured but I don't really know for sure. 8.) As. all of this is coming to a head, the purchase of the trucking business is potentially happening. Somehow the loan to purchase the business is trying to get us to sign a personal guarantee, I decline, instead my "mentor", the guy who's going to own the majority of the trucking business sign a PG. They send me the docs after signing, but the way he signed was as the entity that we own through our parent org and him as the managing member, so our entity and really him personally have a recourse loan. 9.) When I'm looking at the loan after the fact, the thing is almost predatory. Pre-payment penalty is the full interest and principal of the loan plus the maximum allowable pre-payment penalty. Not to get into it but this was not the structure we needed based on what we were trying to do. I call them out but they already signed it. 10.) I quit my job. I don't want to work with the guy anymore. Reminder is that I worked with him at our a day jobs and this was just side income opportunities. 11.) As all of this is coming to a head it dawns on me that I just want out and don't know how to. Is the best way to just approach him in our meeting tomorrow and say I want a $0 buyout, he can have the assets (or in my opinion the liability) that he has taken on, and I just want off of the entities? 12.) As I'm strategizing the exit plan conversation with him, I'm having trouble getting him in person to talk through how I'd like to be out of the business. Long story short I need to solve for 3 things: 1.) Understand my liability with this loan that I did not sign a PG for but the entity that we are listed as owners of did (with he as a managing member) 2.) Understand my liability with the two SWD assets that the group threatened to sue him / the operating entity on. 3.) What should I do to separate myself from this completely, and as quickly as possible

2023.05.30 21:30 4_score_TR Day 8 CT
Today is day 8 CT. I used the 4 letter black extract caps for like 1.5-2 years at about 3 a day. This time has not been so bad, I have quit 2 other times but off regular powder. I stuck to the vit c protocol and I think that helped a lot. Still dealing with some anxiety, rls and general insomnia, slight flat mood, but other than that doing well. This is going to be the last/final quit for me. After my dad passed suddenly about 1.5 years ago, I started using heavily to cope with everything. Before this quit, it got to a pretty dark place where I was crippled by anxiety everyday. The last straw was a panic attack at work. I had 2 caps left after that. I took them for one last good night of sleep, and that was it.
My take-aways from this quit:
- Vit C mega dose helps a ton, especially in the beginning.
- Drink tons of water and force yourself to eat. As healthy as possible the first week.
- Get some sort of excersize everyday, especially in the first week. As much as you can.
- Stay as busy as you can stand. It makes the time pass faster.
- Magnesium, valerian and thc gummies seem to help slightly with rls/insomnia, but for me, time is the only thing that really helps with sleep. I didn't take any prescription meds, though.
- Just accept you are going to be very uncomfortable for a week. I know this varies based on the person, but in general, after about 7 days, it seems like most are feeling much better. NOT feeling normal, but much better. In my experience, after about 2 weeks, I am like 85-90% back to normal. At 1 month I am back to like 95%.
In my experience, alcohol and antihistamines make things worse if used in the first 2 weeks minimum.
Anyway, I just wanted to share. I hope you all are making your way through!

Last challenge:
R1: Delaware. Five states are using a plain circle as (primary) state highway signs: Delaware, New Jersey, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi. As we see a sign to Wilmington (the largest city in Delaware) and Philadelphia (keep in mind: Pennsylvania has a unique state highway sign) we are most likely in Delaware or maybe New Jersey. We see a sign for I-495. When you turn around you see signs for US 13 and US 40. I-495 and US 13 only run through Delaware (and other states) but not through New Jersey. Furthermore, the car in front of us has a Delaware license plate (dark blue background, golden letters). The location itself was a bit tricky. The exit number was the only specific clue where to look. 2 perfect scores. :-)
R2: The new sign of Idaho with just the state outline and without the state name. Older signs also show the state name. Most of southern Idaho lies in the Snake River Plain. Mountains are in northern and south eastern Idaho. The single digit road numbers are clustered in the northern part of Idaho. Many players found the intersection. 12 perfect scores. :-)
R3: New Jersey. There are several clues for New Jersey. You can see the yellow license plates of New Jersey everywhere. The street sign for Nassau Street shows the circle highway sign. This is very common in Delaware and New Jersey. However, a circle with a black background on a green sign is very common in New Jersey and seems to be unique to New Jersey. New Jersey also has signs like in R1. Therefore, a missing black background is not a hint that you are not in New Jersey. The most important clue was written on the newspaper box: Princeton, NJ ;-). 6 perfect scores. :-)
R4: State outline of Arkansas. I-555 is a spur of I-55. Both are easy to find in eastern Arkansas. You could see the freeway entry ramp when you looked north east. 4 perfect scores. :-)
R5: The flag of Colorado on the state highway sign. You could see a sign for I-25 when you turned around. I-25 is the only north-to-sounth interstate in Colorado and is easy to find on the map. CO-14 also runs through the sparsely populated eastern Colorado and is quite easy to find on the map. Many players found CO-14. Our intersection was right next to a railway track. Railway tracks might me easier to find on the map than road names. 5 perfect scores. :-)

2023.05.30 20:55 Revenge_served_cold8 Caught my fiancé cheating and ruined his life and those of his APs. Who says revenge doesn't pay?
I met my ex in 2012, right after he turned 20 and I had just turned 30. I had only dated and been with women exclusively until I came out as bi-sexual at 28. Let’s just say the year I was 29 was a busy year making up for what I missed out on. It was mostly casual hookups (yes, safe) and I did try dating 2 different guys for a few weeks, but it just never worked out or got serious. I kinda figured that I’d probably end up marrying a woman or not getting married at all because I just didn’t see myself catching romantic and sexual feelings for a guy.
Then I met Ryan. From the first date it was just like the only other time in my life I had fallen in love…butterflies, constantly thinking about him, wanting to spend every moment with him. He fell for me hard too and we became an item, though he did say while he considered my bisexuality a turn on, because he had a thing for straight guys, it also gave him pause because of my desires for the opposite sex and his concern it may lead me astray. I thought about it and understood it was a legitimate worry, but assured him that I couldn’t even think about anyone else because I was really into him. Note: I knew he was the one by the end of the first month and I was in love, but I wasn’t going to say these things too soon and risk scaring him off.
On our first date he admitted to me that he was legally blind due to a genetic disorder and that it was progressive and eventually he would only have a sliver of his peripheral vision. He immediately said he understood if I didn’t want to see him again because no other guy had wanted to date him and be his driver all of the time. I grew up with a brother in a wheelchair who never learned how to walk or talk due to misdiagnosed meningitis at 6 months old back in the 70s. I told him that and said that what my brother had was a severe disability, so in my perspective, his blindness had no effect in my feelings and that always being the driver was a small sacrifice just to be with him.
The next 3 years were bliss. We brought out the best in each other. My family who was surprised, but very supportive when I came out, adored Ryan and treated him like family and said that I acted happier since we’d been together. When I met him he was working part-time in retail and had done very poorly in high school because he lost a lot of his confidence as his vision deteriorated. I told him that one thing I did insist on was that he do something with his life because he had too much to offer and that I would help. He said that he’d wanted to be a teacher but didn’t think someone with limited vision could teach….nonsense. So I put him through community college for 2 years, then 2.5 years of a local university and finally the 1 year teacher certification program as required by California. I drove countless miles and paid hundreds in public transportation costs for him, never blinking an eye or complaining.
We’d been together for 7.5 years and were engaged to be married in October by the time he was in his last semester of his teaching certification which involved him student teaching at his former high school with his favorite teacher from his days in school. Then the pandemic hit and schools closed. Fortunately he’d had enough hours in the classroom that he would still qualify to be certified after the Governor issued a waiver via executive order. On the 3rd day of the stay at home order in March my life crumbled when I innocently found out he had cheated on me with an ex all because he handed his phone to me to show me something on Instagram. I accidentally fat thumbed the back arrow when he gave it to me taking me back to a list of all his messages. I looked and recognized the name of his ex as the second message, dated a week ago. I clicked on it and my heart sank. Directions to my house, pictures, dirty talk, and reassuring him not to worry about me because he had my location on my “Find My Friends,” just in case I came home from work.
I immediately started screaming demanding to know everything and he admitted to having his ex over twice for sex and that they didn’t use protection (his ex was engaged to his gf during this, adding another victim). Then he admitted to sleeping with his straight but curious recently single cousin (by marriage) twice, again no protection. Finally he admitted to sleeping with a supposedly straight guy he and many of my cousins went to school with who I told Ryan I really didn’t like him or want them talking because I didn’t trust him. Since they were never close friends I didn’t feel like this was a big sacrifice or that I was being too controlling AND I assumed that he knew why I (and all my cousins) felt that way, but didn’t bother repeating it. The reason was after high school at age 20 this guy was convicted of sexual assault and penetration with a foreign object against a 16 year old girl and had gone to jail and required to register as a sex offender for life. Apparently my ex was the only person in his graduating class that hadn’t heard that news. All of this happened in my home while I was working.
We spent the whole weekend crying with me asking over and over why and him repeatedly crying and saying he just didn’t know and that he felt terrible. Monday comes around and anger started being as common as sadness and I made a comment that said I was going to pull all the phone records going back the 3 years that AT&T kept them (for a fee). Only when he heard that did he admit to one more guy. Some random named Frankie off the gay hookup app Grindr who was the first guy he cheated with and continued to casually hookup with for nearly 2 years with the last time being in February (the month before).
He told me how it started. Get this – it was the DAY AFTER his graduation with his BA in May 2018 and he was drunk from celebrating and wanted to have sex. I too had been celebrating with him and said I was too drunk to perform and said I’d make it up the next day, then passed out asleep on the couch. Apparently he was “angry horny” because he downloaded Grindr, chatted with this Frankie fellow and arranged to have sex in his car in a church parking lot across the street from our condo (which happens to be across the street from a school…this fact is important later), all while I slept on the couch. All the times they hooked up after that was again in my condo while I was working or visiting a friend for the night up the coast (he used to love going but started saying he couldn’t occasionally because of “homework” and “studying.”
I absolutely lost it, told him to get in the car and I drove him to his family’s house so he could tell them what he did so they understood why he was moving back into their house. While he was in the house I was in the driveway on the phone with AT&T ordering the 3 years worth of detailed call/text logs, then made an appointment to be screened for STIs. I also changed his number (he’d had it for years, but I took it over and added it to my plan 2-3 before because his parents were tired of paying it), then suspended his service, deleted his social media and changed all his passwords so only I would have access to his cloud. I also called the bank and issued a stop payment on his final tuition check that I had sent to the certification program the week before and hadn’t hit the bank yet. Before deleting his social media, except Facebook, I took screenshots of the entire Instagram conversation with his ex and mailed the conversation to his fiancée, who deserved to know so she could see a doctor too. His family was very religious and had kicked him out in high school for 3 days when he tried to admit he was bi and only took him back in when he took it back. Needless to say, she ended it, he got kicked out. ONE DOWN.
He came back out to the car and we went home. I took his house key and told him to say goodbye to our 3 pets and get packing. The entire time he packed I studied those phone records to find out dates, times and if there was anyone else he was leaving out. He answered every question I asked and it was then that I discovered that the sex offender and he had only had oral sex in my home and that the actual sex was in the same parking lot he screwed the Frankie guy in.
The wheels started turning and the next day I went over there and sure enough spotted a camera. I spoke to a secretary at the church and informed them about a registered sex offender having sex in their lot and that not only was it a violation of his parole for indecent exposure, but that he was not allowed to be that close to a school and I provided the date. I was in luck! They had a digital two year loop system that started deleting day by day after it had been retained for 2 years +1 day. It was April 2020 and he first cheated with Frankie in May 2018 and the sex offender was in April 2019. I told them I was filing a police report and that probation would require a copy of it eventually. They said they would save the file and allowed me a thumb drive of both days to submit with my police report. Within a month the sex offender was locked up again. TWO DOWN.
I also filed a police report against the Frankie guy. The police said it was a relatively minor infraction but since it was across from a school playground and skate park they would follow up but there would be no jail time. I researched the hell out of Frankie and called him to confront him. He was smug and admitted to knowing about me the whole time. What he didn’t know is that I had found out he had a job that required a security clearance and he had several judgements against him and collection agencies had been looking for him. I didn’t know why they couldn’t find him and just garnish his wages, but it ends up he was Hispanic and had two last names and was a Jr., plus he frequently by his middle name Francisco, Frankie for short…so he got lost in the paperwork confusion. I sent a letter to the collection agencies providing his employer and current location and contact info and then sent a copy of the police report about misdemeanor indecent exposure for which he pled guilty and it was a fine with community service (not considered a sex crime). His wages did get garnished, but only for two paychecks because the misdemeanor was enough for him to lose his security clearance and get fired. THREE DOWN.
Then I contacted Ryan’s family on his mother’s side pretending to be him from his Facebook account making sure they knew he had fucked his cousin. It spread through the family like wildfire and soon his cousin was contacting me because he couldn’t get a hold of Ryan to ask why he would expose what they did. I just laughed and said you shouldn’t screw your cousins, especially when they’re engaged and that he’d messed around in my house, so now it was my turn for payback. FOUR DOWN.
Lastly, I had already stopped payment but since he was so close to finishing I was sure his family would bail him out and pay the university. Like I said, indecent exposure is usually a slap on the wrist type misdemeanor. However, I remembered some of the paperwork he signed to be a mandated reporter that you could lose teaching certification for “documented acts of moral turpitude.” I sent a copy of both police reports from the parking lot with still shots from the security footage clearly showing Ryan’s face to the school district he’d been student teaching in and a copy to the Commission on Teacher Credentials. FIFTH AND FINAL DOWN!
Admittedly, I did all this out of anger but he shattered my sense of self-worth and made me incredibly bitter and untrusting after years of being generous and supporting him. Everywhere I looked in the town I thought of Ryan and the cheating. I felt a terrible energy in my condo knowing it all happened there. I stayed 9 months and watched all 5 of their lives self-destruct. Then sold my condo (making a nice profit) and relocated to the PNW to start over. One thing that is sad is I found out just recently that his ex-who’s fiancé broke up with him ended up committing suicide several months after I moved. It is too bad that his family was so closed minded to turn on their own son, but in the end, it’s not my fault that he cheated on his fiancé by coming into my home at my fiancé’s invitation to cheat.
TLDR: I emotionally and financially supported my ex through college and his teacher credential program for over 7 years only to discover he had cheated on me with 4 different guys, one of them the day after he graduated and then occasionally for nearly two years in my home while I was at work. I took my revenge: My ex lost his career before it even started and our relationship, one AP (affair partner) lost his job and had bill collectors after him, another lost his fiancée and was kicked out, a third was humiliated when his entire family found out he had sex with his cousin and the fourth was put in jail for a violating probation. Lesson: Don't Cheat and Deceive.

My current lease, a 2020 Subaru Impreza, is ending in a few months, and I'm looking to figure out what's next. I have a bit more income now than three years ago, so I'm looking to upgrade to something that's more fun to drive.
Budget: lease new for under $800/month (with $3k down, 10k miles/year), or buy 2020-2021 for under $60k
Requirements:
- AWD (suitable for California mountain passes in the winter)
- more than 5.1in ground clearance - any less than this scrapes the sidewalk pulling into my garage (I know this is a bit more complicated than just ground clearance, but that's a good starting point to figure it out)
- if it's an SUV, no larger than a Volvo XC60
- if buying used, something that's not expensive to maintain and is likely to have resale value after 3-5 years
- more fun than an Impreza
I've looked at BMWs (3 series) and Volvos (S60 or XC60), but I'm hesitant to buy something that might be a maintenance money pit, and they're right at the top of my budget.
I'm also going back and forth about trying to get a PHEV - most of my driving is in the city and I'm not ready to commit to full electric yet, but also IDK if the extra complexity and weight is worth it.
If I don't figure out something better, I'll probably fall back to a top of the line 2024 Crosstrek.

2023.05.30 20:22 jimbobbypaul Ranking the Top 131 FBS Programs of the Last 40 Years: 87. Nevada
Main hub thread with the full 131 rankings The year was 1976. Nevada, coming off a 3-8 year in Division II, hired a little known assistant from UNLV to be their football coach. He had returned to his alma mater where he played QB just 8 years prior. Chris Ault. Ault oversaw 2 transitions: From Division II to Division 1-AA in 1978, then again to Division 1-A in 1992. Ault was a wild success, running his patented pistol offense, making the Division 1-AA playoffs 7 times in 14 years, with an overall record of 122-47-1. Their final year in 1-AA, 1991, they overcame a 35 point 2nd half deficit against Weber State to win 55-49. Backup QB Chris Vargas led the comeback, and would become known as “The Comeback Kid”. He also donated part of his lungs to his brother-in-law in 2000. Be like Chris Vargas.

- 26 NFL players drafted
Nevada’s been in the FBS since 1992, so 31 seasons played since 1983. They were previously in the FBS (Division 1) from 1946-50, but that doesn’t fall under the 40 year timeline here. In their 31 seasons, they’ve made 17 bowls, which is 55% of the time. 7 titles means they win their conference 23% of the time. 5 titles came under Ault, the College Football Hall of Famer and easily the greatest coach in school history. Top NFL players include QB Colin Kaepernick, WR Nate Burleson, and OT Joel Bitonio.
Top 5 Seasons
Worst Season: 2000 (2-10 overall, 1-7 WAC) New conference, new coach, new lows. Nevada moved from the Big West to the WAC with Chris Tormey, who previously went 32-23 at Idaho. There were early struggles, with a 7-36 loss to Oregon, 10-41 to #22 TCU, and 14-45 to Colorado State. They did get a 35-28 win over Wyoming. The season quickly got away from them though, after a 7-38 loss to rival UNLV. Cormey would go 0-4 against UNLV in his 4 years, which was inexcusable. Nevada got a late season win over Rice, but finished off with a brutal 3-38 performance vs Tulsa. Nevada finished last place in their new conference. Sophomore WR Nate Burleson was a breakout player though, with 921 receiving yards. Burleson went on to be an All-American in 2002, leading the nation in catches with 138, for 1629 yards and 12 TD. He was drafted in the 3rd round in 2003 and went on to have a solid NFL career and is an even better media personality than football player.
5. 1994 (9-2 overall, 5-1 Big West) Chris Ault was in his 18th season at the time, with 1st year offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. The two made magic happen, ranking 3rd in the nation with 37.6 PPG. Nevada started 9-1, with the only loss to Boise State, who was in Division 1-AA at the time. Boise would join Division 1-A in 2 years, but in 1994, was a division below and went 13-2 and made the title game. Nevada had rolled through the rest of the Big West, mostly beating teams that finished with losing records, but did beat 6-5 Pacific 38-26. Heading into the final week, Nevada had already won a share of the Big West title, but faced rival UNLV, who was 5-4 (4-1 Big West) and looking to get a share themselves. In the most hyped game between the two ever, UNLV pulled off the upset, winning 32-27 in a game now known as the “Red Defection”, which I talked about in UNLV’s post. Nevada still finished the year 9-2, with a share of the Big West title. QB Mike Maxwell led the NCAA in passing TDs, throwing for 3537 yards 29 TD 15 INT. RB Marcellus Chrishon ran for 1000+ yards in just 9 games, and WR Alex Van Dyke, a future 2nd round pick, caught 98 balls for 1246 yards and 9 TD.
4. 2020 (7-2 overall, 6-2 Mountain West) Nevada was expected to be a solid team in 2020, returning talented young QB Carson Strong. Because of covid weirdness, their schedule was anything but regular, and ended up playing all 8 regular season games against Mountain West opponents. Because of this, there was little room for error. They did as well as they could, starting 4-0, set to face 3-1 San Diego State, who was the division favorite. There were no divisions this year because of covid, but SDSU was still a favorite to qualify for the title game. A 26-21 lead heading into the 4th for Nevada held for the final 15 minutes, and they improved to 5-0 with a conference championship appearance in sight. At 6-1, they’d unfortunately lose 20-30 to an upstart 5-0 San Jose State team that would go on to win the Mountain West. Nevada still made a bowl, beating 6-5 Tulane 38-27 to finish 7-2, and 34th in my rankings. QB Carson Strong won Mountain West OPOTY, completing 70% of passes for 2858 yards, 27 TD, and just 4 INT. Many were talking about him as a future 1st round pick heading into 2021. RB Toa Taua, brother of legendary Nevada RB Vai, had a solid year with 675 rushing yards in 8 games, earning 2nd Team All-MWC. Toa went on to have a consistent 5-year career in which he amassed 3997 rushing yards, 4th in school history only to his brother, Chris Lemon, and Colin Kaepernick. Strong formed a strong connection with WR Romeo Doubs, now on the Green Bay Packers, who had 1000+ receiving yards and 9 TD in just 9 games. Overall, 10 players made 1st/2nd team all-conference.
3. 1995 (9-3 overall, 7-0 Big West) This was right after the 1994 season, where Nevada went 9-2 but lost on the final day to rival UNLV, forced to share the conference title. They left no doubt in ‘95, outpacing UNLV 55-32 en route to a 7-0 Big West season and sole owners of the title. In week 3, 2-0 Nevada hosted Gary Pinkel’s Toledo, losing 35-49 in what previewed the bowl game later on. After then dropping a game to SDSU to fall to 2-2, Nevada averaged a whopping 48.4(!) PPG in their last 7 regular season games, going 7-0 with wins over 2nd placed Southwestern Louisiana and 3rd placed Utah State. That set up a rematch with Toledo in the bowl, who was now #25 and 9-0-1. In the first overtime game in college football history, Toledo won again, this time closer at 40-37. Gary Pinkel completed an undefeated season with the Rockets, while Nevada finished 9-3. The offensive numbers were again staggering, even better than 1994. Nevada ranked 3rd in the nation in PPG with 43.4. QB Mike Maxwell led the NCAA in passing yards with 3611 (in just 9 games!) and 33 TD to 17 INT. WR Alex Van Dyke had an unbelievable year, with 129 catches for 1854 yards and 16 TD. In just 11 games! If he played a 13 game season like teams do today, his stats would extrapolate to 152 catches for 2191 yards and 19 TD.
2. 1996 (9-3 overall, 4-1 Big West) As you can tell, Nevada was balling from 1994-96. New head coach Jeff Tisdale, a former All-American QB for Nevada in the 70’s, took over for Ault, who continued in his role as Athletic Director, which he had been in since 1986. There was no drop off offensively, averaging 42.9 PPG (2nd in the nation), but the defense gave up 8 less PPG, going from 31.2 allowed in 1995 → 23.8 in 1996. QBs John Dutton and Eric Bennett alternated throughout the year, coaches trying to decide who was the right fit to take over for Mike Maxwell. Both were solid, and combined for 3907 passing yards 34 TD 11 INT. Nevada started 1-2 with losses to Pac-10 opponents Oregon and Cal, but then started to wipe through the schedule. Nevada went 7-1 the rest of the way in the regular season, with 25+ point wins over UNLV, Boise State, North Texas, New Mexico State, Utah State, and Arkansas State. The only Big West loss was 15-24 to Idaho, who finished 3rd in the conference. Nevada tied with Utah State at 4-1, sharing the conference title, but got the better of them in a 54-27 win. An 18-15 win over 8-3 Ball State in the bowl clinched Nevada’s first ever bowl win, and they now have 5 more since. LB Mike Crawford nabbed the game-sealing interception, and was the game’s MVP, logging 14 tackles and a forced fumble to go with the INT.
1. 2010 (13-1 overall, 7-1 WAC) I said that Kansas might be the team with the most obvious “best” season, but Nevada’s up there too. This was a dream season, almost like a Hollywood script. Nevada was a very good team entering 2010, picked to finish 2nd in the WAC, but EVERYONE was picking Boise to win the conference. Not just the conference, but to possibly contend for a national title. That’s what the Broncos did, starting 10-0 and #3 in the nation, getting as high as #2 at one point. Back in Reno, Nevada expectedly started 2-0, setting up a Friday night game hosting Cal. I remember watching it, a Cal fan at the time, hoping the Bears would improve to 3-0, but Colin Kaepernick and RB Vai Taua ran all over our defense, posting 299 rushing yards between the two of them in a 52-31 win. A 27-13 win at BYU the next week put Nevada in the AP Top 25 at 4-0. They’d beat up on bottomfeeders UNLV and San Jose State before heading to Hawaii, but lose a trap game to the upstart Rainbow Warriors, who won 27-21 with almost no one watching the 11:30 PM EST start time game. Nevada kept their focus though, and won 2 more to get to 8-1 and back up to #21. A win over 6-2 Fresno State, a traditional WAC power, was huge, with the Wolfpack taking a 35-34 lead with 5 minutes remaining. After a 52-6 win over New Mexico State, the Wolfpack were 10-1, and #19 in the nation, having one of the best seasons in school history.
Then came the Boise State game. Nevada had finished 2nd in the WAC for 2 straight years, unable to get over the Bosie hump. Boise State was the class not just of the WAC, but of all the non-AQ schools in the BCS era. They were the team that finally had a chance to break not into just a BCS bowl, but the national title game. Nevada was the home team and wasn’t going to just lie down, but this Boise team was, at the time, the best non-Power 6 team we’d ever seen. Boise didn’t disappoint, galloping out to a 17-0 lead early. Taua cut it to a 10 point deficit in the 2nd quarter, but Boise RB Doug Martin immediately responded with a 51 yard TD run to send it into halftime at 24-7. With the offense stalling, Kaepernick finally broke off an 18 yard TD run on 3rd and 6 with 1:30 left in the 3rd quarter to make it 24-14. Following a defensive stop, Nevada got the ball back to start the 4th. Receiving an end-around lateral 12 yards behind the LOS, with 3 tacklers to beat, WR Rishard Matthews evaded them all and took it 44 yards to the house. 24-21. With 5 minutes to go, Nevada made it 24 all. Boise, who hadn’t scored all half, put the ball in Doug Martin’s hands and let him do the work, taking a screen pass 79 yards for the go-ahead TD. In response, Kaepernick drove the length of the field, 15 seconds to go…Touchdown, Nevada! With 13 seconds left! Will they go for 2…? No.
Boise State ball with 9 seconds to go, both teams preparing for OT. Kellen Moore throws up a PRAYER for Titus Young, nearly 60 yards in the air…and Young LAYS out for the catch, down to the Nevada 10. 1 second left, 26 yard FG, Boise with one of the best kickers in school history, game over. Except it wasn’t. Kyle Brotzman hit it wide right. OVERTIME. The stadium was shaking. 3rd & goal in overtime for Boise, incomplete. Brotzman comes back out, this time from 29. WIDE LEFT. As Joe Tessitore put it, “this is turning into a disaster”. On the other side, Nevada kicker Anthony Martinez lined up for a 34 yard FG for the biggest win in school history. Right down the middle. Nevada wins it 34-31 in OT, pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the 2010s and winning a share of the WAC title, against all odds. Nevada won their last regular season game against Louisiana Tech and the bowl against Boston College to finish 13-1 and #11 in the AP Poll.
The offense averaged 41.0 PPG while the defense gave up just 21.4. Kaepernick won WAC OPOTY, throwing for 3022 yards 21 TD 8 INT with 1206 rushing yards and 20 TD on 7.0 YPC. Taua was 1st Team All-WAC with 1610 rushing yards and 19 TD, finishing his career as Nevada’s all-time leading rusher with 4588 yards. DE Dontay Moch was in contention for WAC DPOTY, with 8.5 sacks and 13.5 TFL. Overall, this turned out to be a loaded Wolfpack team, with 9 players drafted over the next 3 years, including Kaepernick, who led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance.
5th Quarter
Do you remember that insane 2010 game vs Boise, and that Nevada team with Kaepernick/Taua? What do you think about Nevada in general, with the success they’ve had running the pistol and Chris Ault’s legacy?

IN FROZEN TUNDRA, HEROES WILL RISE TO DEFEAT THE HEART OF WINTER Driven from lands farther north by more powerful foes, a young white dragon has descended upon the Sword Mountains, claiming the snow-capped range as its domain. Typical of its kind, Cryovain is dim-witted and cruel. The dragon patrols the skies around Icespire Peak, surveying its territory while hunting for food and easy treasure. With each passing day, the dragon’s domain grows as it ranges farther across the land, preying on anything it can catch with its claws or freeze to death with its icy breath. Hello! I recently renounced my Malaysian citizenship and I thought I could share my experience here because it was quite . I would like to disclaim that this is my personal experience and might be different from yours so do take it with a little pinch of salt :") All links and credits are given!
Background context: I was born Malaysian (in Singapore, 2002) and converted to PR and then Singaporean when I was a minor Hence, by the Article 124(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, I need to take the Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty within 1 year of my 21st [Article124_1,2]. Upon turning 21, ICA sent a registered mail to my house address [ORAL1-3]. You do not need to fill up anything as of yet. I went to the
High Commission of Malaysia with all the documents required that I had (you can find it
here).
- Letter of Approval from ICA Singapore [ORAL1,2] - Original and 2 photocopies
- Singapore Pink I.C - Original and 2 photocopies
- Singapore Birth Certificate - Original and 2 photocopies
- BORANG W - Original and 2 photocopies
- Singapore Citizenship Certificate - Original and 2 photocopies
- Singapore Passport - Original and 2 photocopies
- Recent Passport Photo (2 minimally)
- A black pen
However, I was missing a Malaysian I/C or Surrender Letter [Surrender_Letter] and was hence told to go to
Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) Negeri Johor, Block 2 (Ground Floor) in Johor Bahru to do my renunciation [JPN_image]. They have their own webpage that you could look at too.
What to do in JB:
- Things to note before going
- Wear covered attire (no sleeveless, shorts, slippers).
- Bring a black colored pen or go to counter 3 to pay RM1 for a black ballpoint pen.
- Bring RM20 cash and have a Debit/Credit Card (I think Revolut and Youtrip works) that has at least RM10 in it.
- The whole process was quite fast (could finish in an hour or two) but I struggled since I couldn't speak Malay.
- Grab from JB Customs to JPN should cost you around RM20+. I'm not sure how to go by bus. There are parking slots if you were to go by car too.
- Walk along the road and look for Block 2, JPN and stay on the ground floor. Enter the building and near the entrance, there should be a kiosk machine and click 'warganegaraan' (should be the second option from the top). You should be called from counter 1 to 4.
- When your number is called, they will check for all the documents and ask pass you the Borang-K form and ask you to fill it up, go to Pesuruhjaya Sumpah to commision your oath. The template is found in [BorangK_1,2] with some edits made. You could refer to the templates found around the counters (I went to the one at the round pillar).
- Exit the compound of The National Registration Department (past the gates) and cross the road and turn left (with respect to the direction you exit) to find Pesuruhjaya Sumpah [Persuruhjaya_Sumpah]. She will help you validate your document and sign it for you. Pay her RM20 in cash.
- Return back to JPN and get a new queue number and click 'warganergaraan' again. Hand all the documents over including the newly filled Borang K. You will have to pay RM10 in card (or you can try your luck and see if the officer would accept your RM10 in cash and pay for you in card) and they will process it for you and give you a document evidence to prove that you have renounced your malaysian citizenship.
- You are donesos!! :D

2023.05.30 19:30 Dear-Tomatillo6380 Need advice
Background and context:
I had a mentor who was a boss of mine until a month or so ago. I asked how he could help me about two years ago get into and start building a portfolio of assets. We started an LLC together and here are the order of events so far since inception (July 2021):
1.) Started an entity
2.) Middle of 2022 found a deal to purchase two Salt Water Disposal Wells in Texas.
Long story short I need to solve for 3 things:
1.) Understand my liability with this loan that I did not sign a PG for but the entity that we are listed as owners of did (with he as a managing member)
2.) Understand my liability with the two SWD assets that the group threatened to sue him / the operating entity on.
3.) What should I do to separate myself from this completely, and as quickly as possible

2023.05.30 19:29 OGKoozy Hoarder Hunt Lore Discussion
Due to the latest clue in stage 3 of the Hoarder Hunt I wanted to open discussion on the in-game quests and overall implied story :D Rare thief has articles with all of the discovered letters so far. I find it fun to speculate on story and possible game changes, its what the mystery is for in my opinion, to build hype.
The recent letter refers to the Gold Hoarders being "turncoats" and mentions they are not following the rules. The first letter mentioned it was important to follow the rules and not use common pirates. This new letter goes on to list what I understand as us the player being used by the GH to gather loot and the keys for the in-game quests. It seems to me these letters are from H to the Gold Hoarders sending them on a hunt for the keys to open the chest they have.
I find two things to be most important here.
This H character seems to be an antagonist the way this whole thing is playing out. What are they up to messing with the Gold Hoarders and sending them on a quest, trying to get them to leave their tents and abandon us the player in favor of hoarding by themselves.
What does messing with the GH accomplish in the overall story? We just had a kind of war with Merrick's Outpost being awarded to the victors. Captain Falcore recently put out a video suggesting this mystery ends with timing for an XBOX Showcase reveal. There are the speculations H is Captain Hook. There are alot of ways this can go, that is why it is fun.
What is H doing? More importantly, what is in that chest?! I guess we will know in a couple weeks :)

| 2 year owner of a house that had irrigation already installed. First year we didn't winterize and pipes busted and the backflow preventer had to be replaced. We rigged it so it would work but recently got a letter for an inspection which I know will not pass. The backflow preventer we had was a 3/4 inch Febco 860. How important is it to get the same backflow preventer or would it be ok to use a different style? submitted by WholeSorry to Irrigation [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 18:43 ThrowawayPostNight My best friend lost my respect
My best friend moved across the country a couple of years ago. She got a dog both for company and to take on all of her adventures with her. She hikes, she camps, she goes on solo road trips every now and again.
Why is that an issue? Let me count the ways.
- Day to day, she would not walk the dog.
- She would cram this 80lb dog into a 500-600 square foot apartment.
- She would SCREAM at this dog, all the time. Like rage filled, I've lost control of myself screaming. For things like it pooping it's crate when she wouldn't get out of bed to take it out in the morning. It was actually scary, I had never seen her behave that way before.
- The crate she would keep it in 50% of the time was too small. The dog couldn't stand up and turn around easily. It also had to lay on the bars of the crate because it had chewed the bottom plastic layer and she couldn't/wouldn't figure out an alternative.
- This dog had issues and was aggressive (it ended up being inbreeding and neurological) and she had ZERO CLUE about dogs and constantly triggered its anxieties and then would scream at it when it snapped. I'm talking it would be cowering and growling at something she would be doing, and she'd just keep doing it until the dog freaked out.
- She'd not take the dog out in time, it would have an accident and she'd scream at it. Including in the apartment elevator, she didn't take the dog all the way down, just came back up to the apartment and left the pee.
- She would play fight really aggressively (shoving, loud voice, grabbing) with this REACTIVE dog and then scream at it and put it in its crate when it inevitably got too hyped up and became aggressive.
- When it became very clear she was not equipped to own or take care of this dog, she waited MONTHS to look into surrendering it because "she wasn't ready". By then, nobody would take him because he was almost a year old and had too many incidents.
- She posted all over social media about how he started having seizures and they had to put him down, and it honestly turned my stomach that this poor dog had been living in an abusive, shitty situation with her for almost all of its life and right up until the end.
Now, after all of that, after having conversations where she agreed with me that she had no fucking clue what she was doing with a dog, she wasn't financially equipped to be in a living situation appropriate for a large dog, and saying she wouldn't be getting one until she had a yard and also hopefully a partner to take on the task of pet care, she's posting all over social media about GETTING A NEW BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG PUPPY.
Currently, she's moving out of her tiny apartment and DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANOTHER PLACE LINED UP. And yet she's buying a bunch of puppy equipment and posting a photo of a puppy with the caption "Soon❤️".
Like I just can't stand it. She is BEYOND clueless about dog care and training, and she's abusive with the way she yells and screams and loses her shit all the time. I've lost all of my respect for this person and all I can feel is disgust.

2023.05.30 18:27 mind_surfer28 [UPD] T2 Computer Science Transferee Queries
Good Day! I'm currently a BS Computer Student in another institution planning to transfer to UPD of the same course. Following are my Inquiries and concerns.
- What are the chances of me passing given my GWA (1.6)?
One of the requirements on the primer is to have a "General Weighted Average of 1.75 or better, or average of 1.5 or better from all Math subjects."
- My concern is how can be the subject that I have taken from my current institution be defined as a "Math Subject" ? Also , would my programming (CS 121 and CS 111) and IT (IT 111) subjects be also included as a Math Subject?
- Regarding sa letter, pwede po ako makahingi ng tips and format? And if pwede po makahingi ako ng file sa mga previous successful T2 Transferees?
- For local applicants, bawal na po ba mag submit ng response sa link ng online form(tried opening it and it says "no longer accepting responses")?
Thank you!

2023.05.30 18:27 NEPatsFan128711 REG was WAY harder than expected
Hi everybody. I just recently took REG and am absolutely shocked about that exam. If anybody can provide similar experiences, or advice for my potential retake, I would really appreciate that.
I was going through the MCQ's, and I was like "Okay...this isn't too bad. Definitely no different than the other 3 exams in terms of difficulty." My second testlet was much harder than my first, I had about 9/10 questions marked on the second testlet alone. But, that is roughly the amount I had marked for the other 3 I passed, so I wasn't too worried. I finish up the MCQ's, feeling okay. Yeah it was hard, but not super unfair or anything I wasn't expecting. Then come the Sims. The fucking sims....
The first testlet I think I get 0 points. I legitimately have no clue how they can expect me to get these answers correct. Each box has anywhere from 2-6 concepts baked into the number that I am supposed to interpret correctly, any small mistake or misclassification and I will miss the number completely. Testlet 3 was an absolute joke. I have never felt this defeated after a testlet on any exam.
Testlet 4 was just as rough, maybe a bit easier but I am definitely in that 0-20% correct range. And finally, testlet 5 was not too bad. I felt like I was in the game for all the Sims, I definitely didn't get all the points of course, but I at least knew what I was doing.
So out of all the sims, I felt decent about 4 (including research sim), and legit think I got 0 points on the other 4. Literally a 0 on half the sims, potentially.
My SE scores for Becker were trending low 70/high 60, and I wasn't too worried for REG bc I prepared the way I have for the other 3 which all went smoothly. How can I be better preared for the sims if I have to retake, or is that how most people feel and the Becker bump is as insane as advertised? I won't be demoralized if I don't pass, I just want to prepare myself the best I can for a retake if I have to do that.
Sorry for the long winded post, but I really could use some advice or experiences from y'all.

2023.05.30 18:22 ruf_zay2000 Black and Decker AC Support Nightmare
Hello all, I am posting this as a last resort as I have no clue what I should do or where I should go from here. If there is a better sub fitted for this, let me know please.
Last year I purchased a Black and Decker portable AC. I had one previously that ran 24/7 since 2019 with no issues so I purchased another model. In September of 2022 my AC started leaking water. I called Black and Decker support and after some back and forth they approved a replacement and told me to mail my AC in with a shipping label. The AC was shipped and was received by B&D on October 12th 2022. They told me it would be around 3-5 business weeks before I receive a replacement. They went totally radio silent and had no communications until December 12th, when I reached out wanting to know the status. They said they had no update and they would escalate for 24-48 hr response. No follow up ever came, and I called a week later. Was told they escalated again and would get 24-48 hour response. I was told there is no supervisor I can talk to, no phone or email I can reach out to, no additional support, and my only option would be to wait for their escalation. Repeat this process every week until April 10th 2023, ( yes 6 MONTHS of calling) when I finally received a replacement AC.
To my dismay, the AC was the incorrect model. I shipped a 10,000 BTU unit and received a 4,000 BTU unit back. Just like last time, I called and let them know of the error, and was told that I would get a response in 24-48 hours. repeat this process until March 22nd, 2023, where they told me I would need to ship the improper model back to them for them to send the right replacement back, and I would get an replacement label in an hour. An hour passed, and I called back. They let me know that I would receive one within 24 hours. Called back after not receiving one, and they let me know they will escalate the issue and will get back to me within 24-48 business hours.
At this point I do not know what to do. I have been without an AC since September of 2022, and feel like I have been robbed as they have both my broken AC and my money. When I expressed I would just take the broken AC back and try and find someone else to fix it, they told me that was not an option. When I told them that I would just simply like my money back to skip all of the shipping problems, was told that they don't do refunds. I am at my wits end and I don't know who to reach out to next. I have scoured the web and sent a complete documentation of events to every B&D email address I could find online, filed a consumer complaint with my state AG office, all of which has resulted in no response. I no longer have the time to continue calling B&D every day, but I would also not like to be out of $400. It is getting closer and closer to peak summertime in Texas and I am getting desperate. Does any one have any advice on how I should proceed in this situation? anything would be appreciated.

2023.05.30 18:19 HokageEzio A great reminder on the various dreams of the Straw Hats, and some very solid anime filler content with an ever increasing production quality - Manga reader's first impressions on the anime - Zou Saga
| Summary/TL;DR I occasionally see the criticism pop up that since the timeskip, many of the Straw Hats dreams have gone somewhat underdeveloped unless it is one of the ones that is constantly developed every arc (Luffy becoming Pirate King, Zoro becoming the World's Strongest Swordsman, etc.). I feel like the Zou Arc really fights back against that criticism. Even while being the least controversial post time skip arc (and an arc that was always beloved since it came out), I feel like it's still a little underappreciated how many great endgame Straw Hat moments were had in this arc in reference to the development of their dreams. I also think the uptick of the anime's quality continues to show itself more and more, with great anime filler and an even better movie in Film: Gold. Zou Saga Foreword I've been reading the manga weekly since Zou, but I've been trying to watch every piece of animated One Piece content before catching up to see how the anime has developed over time. My interest in how the current anime is being used and incorporating a bunch of stuff that isn't in the manga with a much higher quality level made me want to watch weekly, but I didn't want to just jump into the current anime. So I'm watching everything; movies, filler, specials, basically anything that's on MyAnimeList and that I can find online. Been an enjoyable experience, which you can read about in the previous threads: Very quick watch for Zou, but some solid content there. Also if anybody is curious why this is only about Zou it's because I'm using the official list from Library of Ohara based on Shueisha's official breakdown. I like this breakout more because stuff like the Reverie gets included in one big Whole Cake Island arc with the countries coming together at the beginning and meeting at the end, which makes sense to me (similar to how the in between Acts in Wano are still part of the arc). As well as other various reasons. Also this post would have approximately 900 entries if Zou, Whole Cake, and Wano were together. Cool? Cool. Anime Arcs Silver Mine Bartolomeo living the dream getting a filler arc with his idol Apparently every filler villain in this series wants to be Akainu. This time it's smelting powers instead of heat, but with the same results. There was nothing incredibly bad in this arc, but I legit forgot plot points of it after a few episodes. Zoro brought up that he wanted to get revenge for something, and if they didn't throw in the flashback of the thing he was mad about from the first episode I would have been completely lost. And that's about the level of quality in this whole arc. Still not the worst arc cause Bartolomeo was really fun, but stuff with him was the only real saving grace imo. Zou Again, love the ever growing relationship between Luffy and Lil Bro Momo I've always been a big fan of Zou. It really feels like the entire story gets expanded for what will be the final stages, and there's a lot of big reveals as far as what the hell is next to come. That's not news though, I feel like Zou has always been the least controversial New World arc and everybody agrees it's pretty good. What stuck out to me going back through this is how many different Straw Hat dreams got some big moments, which I really liked. Chopper getting to save all the minks by making medicine was a nice moment for him, and I also really enjoyed him helping patch up Zunesha (more on that in a second). And Robin's excitement when presented with the Road Poneglyph and finding out what it meant, just a really happy experience. It's the happiest I can remember her when finding a Poneglyph since she found the one in Skypiea that made her realize it's not a lost dream. And Nami asking Inuarashi about what the Log Pose is pointing to and getting that affirmation that she's leading them on the right path, super cute moment. I feel like a lot of people criticize some of the Straw Hats with this idea that their dreams aren't really talked about much since the time skip, but to me this arc was really covering a bunch of those moments for them in really satisfying ways. Yeah we don't physically see Nami draw a map or anything like that, but we do get Robin giving her readings from the Poneglyph that can lead her down that path. I just really enjoyed all the little moments leading them on their individual dreams, especially for the more abstract ones like Chopper where none of us know how he's actually going to pull it off. I also really enjoyed the filler episode right near the end of this arc. I brought up getting to see Chopper healing Zunesha, that was mostly done in the filler episode I'm referring to. Just really good canon filler that plugged up a lot of gaps from the manga. Carrot bribing the monkey so she could sneak on the ship, the minks all helping to make bandages for Zunesha's leg, Nami getting the map for Totto Land. One of those filler episodes where if somebody didn't tell you it was filler you'd have no clue, it just fit in perfectly. I feel like most of the filler in this arc was really well fitting, other than them randomly fighting bees for half an episode one time. Like I've been saying since the end of Dressrosa, if they do more filler like this then I really don't have an issue with the page count. I think content matters more than the amount of pages covered, and this was for the most part really good content. As far as the story itself, the setup for Wano was great. Love seeing Momo really come into his own; he's turned into a great character in Wano and it really started around this moment here when he allies with Luffy. And the Raizo is Safe moment was really good, loved the adaptation. The music in the moment sounded very Wano/Japanese themed, which fit the moment. And frankly all of the music in this arc was great. You can always tell when one of these 200+ episode animes just got a new OST, because you start hearing new music super often. But no complaints there. Specials One Piece: Heart of Gold I swear this was integral to the plot. Don't fact check. I just did not get into this one. The villain was pretty underwhelming (although I did like Zoro and Sanji's fights). And while I get it's filler so logic is somewhat out the window, the logic of this special goes super out the window. For example there's a part where Brook is needed to play the piano with very specific notes or he'll get shot with arrows. And he keeps messing up because there's a bit of the last page missing. And despite the fact that arrows pretty much do nothing to him, we instead get Robin and Chopper protecting him. Who for some reason are totally fine to use their Devil Fruits, which made me realize they're not even in Seastone cuffs but are for some reason just going along with everything. It took me until that point of the movie to even realize that. And I bring that up to talk about the next test they had, where they needed to use keys and had to find the right keyhole out of 17 (16 electrocute you, 1 doesn't). For some reason this is Nami's job, and Brook, Chopper, and Usopp have to hold the whole thing open so they don't get crushed. But if the electrocution doesn't kill you, and you're allowed to use devil fruits, why are they not using the person who can literally sprout clones and body parts? Obviously she'd still get hurt because she feels pain from the clones, but it makes way more sense than having almost half the crew crushed to death. Again, it's a filler special episode so why am I even ranting about this. But stuff like that made me realize that the plot makes no sense and that it took me that long into the movie to realize it makes no sense. The CP0 stuff was kinda interesting albeit they make them kinda look like scrubs, the Celestial Dragon stuff was fine too. And Chopper continues his reign as the greatest plug in One Piece, because he apparently just carries around every drug necessary with zero prep time. Also whoever animated this did it with one hand down their pants when they drew the Nami and Robin stuff. So kudos to them. Wasn't a bad special, just kinda boring. Movies One Piece Film: Gold Nice to see Nami finally get to shine in a movie. WOW. What an amazing movie. There were just so many things to love about this one. Where to start. I'm always a fan of getting some unusual Straw Hat duos/trios. The usual groups are fun, don't get me wrong. But it's always nice to mix it up since they're such a big group. So having Franky running alone with Luffy for half the movie, I was a big fan of that. That's just not a usual pairing that happens, and the resulting dynamic from that was really cool. I also enjoy when a movie villain doesn't feel unusually OP just for the sake of making the plot work, or like they're nerfing the main cast to make it a conflict. That's something that happens with a lot of shonen movies because they need the villain to be strong for an hour or so to make it work. When they revealed early into the movie that the gold confetti raining down actually makes it so Tesoro can control everything, I was in shock. It's a good plot device to neutralize the good guys that doesn't feel contrived, and it's also just really fucking smart. It immediately made Tesoro feel like a genuine threat. And speaking of Tesoro, what a great villain. His backstory was crazy. The Celestial Dragon stuff is always a good way to get under the audience's skin, but the fact that he was a slave too and basically took the Sun Pirates approach of covering it? Huge surprise, not what I was expecting at all. Also enjoyed Nami finally getting to fully participate in a movie. Her relationship with Carina was really cool, but the main thing that I liked was that she finally gets to play a big role in a movie. I wouldn't define her role in the last few movies as a damsel in distress. But it did kinda suck to see Nami taken out of the past few movies fairly early, where she doesn't get to play out a role like everybody else. Whether that's her being changed to a little kid or her getting kidnapped by Shiki in the first few minutes. This time Zoro gets to be the one separated from the crew, but you know Zoro will always get his moment eventually so it was fine. Again, just another really unique thing about this movie compared to the other ones. This was just a really fun heist style movie, even with the typical planning montage. Very fun watch. OVAs One Piece Film: Gold Episode 0 Subtle. Speaking of animating with a hand down their pants, this was animated with the pen in their mouth. I guess these OVAs are all just going to be an excuse to show Nami and Robin half naked as many times as possible. In which case I say thank you. Also I knew Nami and Robin ran an elaborate gambling ring on the ship, I called that. Fun short little video leading into the movie, like the Glorious Island one. We've upgraded from swimming to having the girls bouncing around playing volleyball. I look forward to the next one where they mud wrestle. ONAs Oishi-sa Hajikeru! One Piece MyAnimeList needs some quality control on these entries. 0/10, Franky didn't make a commercial about soda. Scratch x One Piece Film: Gold The face of the VAs when they saw how many 0's were at the end of their check. Amazing. Inspiring. The lottery tickets really spoke to my heart. One Piece Film: Gold - Cine Mike Popcorn Kokuchi Again about that quality control. Amazing. Inpsiring. The popcorn really spoke to my heart. TOHO Cinemas x One Piece Film: Gold - Tokubetsu Eizou Actually cool artwork. Actually a really well animated video for what is essentially just a company logo promo. Very cool art.
