Dragonflight can't strafe
My dad spent all my Traders Tender... can I not earn more? 🥺
2023.06.04 00:02 Luvlymonster My dad spent all my Traders Tender... can I not earn more? 🥺
Some people prioritize mogs some ppl prioritize mounts/pets. I'm not here to argue about which makes more sense, but as it stands, my dad is a mogs guy and I'm a pets/mounts person.
So I was really excited this month to earn THREE mounts and a pet!
I recently had a major surgery on my tongue and have been bedridden for a few days, but I was finally able to log in today.
First thing I see in my Adventure Guide is "you have collected all rewards for this month"
O...kay....?
So I go to the trading post. I have Quawks and apparently also have the Cindermane Charger.
And my traders tender is... 0?!
I had less than 1000 saved but still.
Also a staff mog was bought.... oh no. I realize what's happened.
My dad mains a mage. We have separate wow accounts but the same battlenet. He must've already completed all his activities and spent all the tender. I get nothing. No swarmer and no bee :(((((
I can save one for next month but that's meaningless if he goes in and does other stuff.
I messaged him about prioritizing pets and mounts but I have no idea if he'll cooperate even though it's MY battlenet.
Could I just change the password so he can't do this again? Sure but that doesnt bring my tender back. And also I don't want my dad to be angry with me. I'm sensitive.
What can I do? Can anything be done? I'm so sad right now
Edit: I should clarify I'm a grown 24yo and not a kid, but still. The account used to be my dad's. He's the one who got the majority of mounts and pets and achieves before he quit the game and passed ownership over to me, so that's another reason I'm hesitant to boot him now, especially after he just came back after I told him about how much fun I was having in Dragonflight. But the traders post was like 30% of that fun and if it's gonna be complete and spent within 48 hours it's not fun anymore 😞

I have the WoW subscription and right now I'm on level 57 with my Frost Mage, but can't queue for any Shadowlands dungeons, even though I'm quite ahead on its progression. It only shows me BfA and Dragonflight dungeons with the dungeon finder... am I doing anything wrong or is it like a bug?

2023.06.02 22:35 Ozmorokoz Help with performance problem
Hi guys I have gtx1080 and ryzen 3600 setup, lately (last 1-2 months) I realized performance drop in my games. I play league of legends and World of warcraft %80 percent of the time, and sometimes I dabble in other games. For example in league I played at 1080p 144fps with a 144 hz monitor and It never dipped below 120-130 for years but now in some intense 5v5 fights it dips down to 70-90 range and even during laning phase it is not stable 144(it used to be) . In wow I had to drop my graphics preset 2 levels to get the same performance ı had when dragonflight launched.
I watch youtube videos benchmarking my setup and they always get 40-50 fps more than me In the same game. For example the guy was getting 130 average in fortnite high preset, I downloaded the msi afterburner and tried out I got 97 average . I tried many things like cleaning the dust inside the computer updating my nvdia driver but nothing seemed to work. I cant pin point the exact time I started having these performance isssues so I have no idea if something I downloaded? or did maybe started the problems. During my benchmark runs both my gpu and cpu never even exeed %80 percent usage and temparatures are never above 75 degree so at this point I have no idea what is causing the issues . Any advice and help would be appreciated .

2023.06.02 21:52 ajoota98 How Wow 2 Could be?
For many times i saw lots of people saying about WoW 2, the next chapter, the reboot or whatever you wanna call it. Honestly, i can't imagine anything about what WoW 2 could be if it's real. Like, ok Blizzard will finish WoW after dragonflight and then WoW 2 will be announced, if the 1.0 version will be the next expansion after dragonflight the name "WoW 2" is nonsense, so they'll need to do something new, different, what do you think they should do if WoW 2 was real?

2023.06.02 16:42 Snapships4life Rodey Champion Concept-Flank-1,900 HP
Primary A-Shoot an SMG with no bloom and SLIGHT tracking
Primary B-Shoot an RPG with seeking that applies an effect called "Disorientation" (explained in stats)
Secondary A-Switch to your RPG for one shot
Secondary B-Switch back to your SMG if you don't fire the RPG
Ability One-Dash backwards and put up a weak shield that slows enemies passing through it
Ability Two-Strafe in the direction of your current movement and take less damage
Ultimate-Instantly teleport nearby enemies to you and blast them outward dealing heavy damage
Talent One-Strafe now makes you ethereal while strafing but have a longer cooldown
Talent Two-Now have two RPG shots (requires reload)
Talent Three-Your ability one now snares instead of slowing
Statistics: Primary A-45 damage every 0.05 seconds with 45 ammo and a 1 second reload time. Tracking is 2.5 degrees per 0.01 seconds traveled, although it travels really fast so it's best at long range. Damage falloff is at 75 units and has a max falloff (300 units) of -75% damage.
Primary B-150 units per second speed, 10 degrees every 0.1 seconds after 1 second, works in a 90 degree cone in front of the rocket. Deals 1,000 damage and "disorients". Disorientation blinds you for 0.5 seconds and during that time turns you to face in a random direction, including upwards. Upon firing it automatically switches back to SMG and reloads itself.
Secondary A-Switches in 1.5 seconds, lasts forever until firing, 12-second CD.
Secondary B-While RPG is out this will instantly switch to SMG and half the cooldown of secondary A.
Ability One-Dash back a short to moderate distance (further when held down), and make a shield where you dashed from. The shield is half as small as atlass' shield and has 551 Health. Enemies passing through it get -75% speed for 3.2 seconds. The shield lasts 3.6 seconds. 11-second CD.
Ability Two-Short distance, takes 0.5 seconds, take 50% less damage, 2-second CD, can't use abilities or shoot while dashing.
Ultimate-All enemies in a moderately large radius get teleported to you in 0 seconds and blasted outwards randomly with a force enough to push them around 110 units on flat ground. It deals 1,799 damage and charges 50% faster than other ultimates.
Talent One-Now take no damage while strafing, doesn't cleanse effects, 3.5-second CD.
Talent Two-Reload takes 2.5 seconds.
Talent Three-Snares for 3.2 seconds completely.

2023.06.02 15:03 Past-Link-2088 Random ideas
I have some random ideas that I thought you guys might like, but since I don't have enough ideas of a specific category to make a post about, I've decided to just put everything here, enjoy! As always, please tell me your opinion in the comments and ask any questions you would like. Now let's begin.
Locational damage: creatures will be divided into 3-5 parts: head, limbs, body, wings, and tail. A creature's HP will also be equally distributed to every part it possesses. Damaged parts can hinder a creature in many ways:
- The head's HP reaches 0: Slightly blurs the screen, reduces sniffing range, and every stat is greatly reduced (except HP, stamina, HP regen, and stamina regen).
- The body's HP reaches 0: Reduces HP and stamina regen, makes negative status effects heal much slower, and increases damage received.
- The limbs' HP reach 0: Greatly reduces speed, turn rate, and jump height.
- The wings' HP reach 0: Disables flight.
- The tail's HP reaches 0: Reduces swimming speed and turn rate.
How to damage the parts? Hit them of course! Pluck their wings to pull them out of the sky; destroy their legs so they can't run; hit their heads to bewilder them; or crack their ribs to quickly end the fight. There are plenty of choices. Since strafing will be in the recode to make attacking the tail a little more difficult, I thought some extra dexterous options work well to spice up the combat even more. Damage-over-time effects will only damage the parts they're on and not the entire creature. Ex: A creature with bleed hits another's head, only the head will take damage from bleed. If a part's HP reaches 0, effects on that part will randomly damage other parts.
Armor: An ability that causes a % of a creature's max HP to be added on top of their normal HP as armor; armor is immune to bleed, poison, and is resistant to fire; it will also take damage before HP does. How about incorporating this with "Locational damage"? Certain parts can be armored while others aren't (or not as much), like how the turtle (I can't remember its name) can have lots of armor for its body so people can't just easily breakthrough to quickly end the fight with bonus damage. Basically, armor exists so people can't bum-rush certain parts and must instead take into account a creature's armor distribution to effectively take it down. For balancing purposes, armor should recover much slower than HP does and should also be unaffected by mud.
Tough hide: Discounted armor that is resistant to bleed and poison. Armor from "Tough hide" is effected by mud and heals slightly slower than HP does. Gotta have a weaker version for fun and stuff.
Some abilities that I thought would be fun to play around with:
- Crushing: Deals bonus damage to armor.
- Piercing: A % of damage is unaffected by armor.
- Climber: Creatures with this ability can go up vertical surfaces at the cost of reduced speed and constant stamina drain (I can't figure out the stamina drain rate).
- Tether tongue: Launch your tongue and latch onto a creature you're looking at; the tongue will then slowly retract and drag the target towards you, unless they're heavier than you, in which case you will be dragged towards them instead. This ability can be canceled by hitting the ability button again; undecided cooldown.
- Excavate: Dig up root vegetables and small insects/critters hidden underground to be consumed (carnivores dig up small insects and critters, herbivores root vegetables, and omnivores both). Results vary depending on the season and where you choose to dig. More food during spring and summer, less during winter; more food when excavating on grass and bushes, less on sand, stone, and snow. Undecided cooldown.
- Burrow: Dig a subterranean chamber that can be entered through an entrance on the surface (the burrow is actually somewhere below the map, and the entrance teleports the user to the burrow). This ability should be exclusive to creatures of tiers 1 and 2; only creatures of equal or lower tier than the owner can use the burrow; using "Excavate" on the entrance will teleport every creature within the burrow to the entrance and destroy the burrow; 1 burrow limit; undecided cooldown.
- Terraform (small pond): Create a small pond that acts like normal water sources after the recode. This ability has a limit of 1 pond and every pond will disappear if the owner leaves the game or dies; requires a large and flat enough space to create; undecided cooldown.
- Terraform (makeshift shelter): Dig a shallow hole that grants orange shelter (the orange house icon). Using this ability inside an orange or light green shelter will make the hole grant light green and green shelter respectively. This ability has a 1 hole limit; requires a large and flat enough space to create; undecided cooldown.
- Tremor sense: Togglable ability. All moving creatures within a certain radius will be marked by pulses that can be seen through walls; the size and intensity of pulses depend on the target's size and whether they're running or not. Creatures with this ability should have some visual impairment to balance them out or something.
- Large clutch: All 3 eggs can be incubated simultaneously. Why creatures only incubate 1 egg at the time? The only logical reason is that each clutch only contains 1 egg, and it's kinda weird.

2023.06.02 03:16 wizardsuckbot Leveling is TERRIBLE
Returning player here, last played in Legion, Cata before that.
I have been leveling up in retail as well as wrath classic, and I've got to say that the leveling experience in retail has made me not want to purchase dragonflight. I was excited to come back to retail because I had heard about chromie time allowing you to "relive old expansions while leveling" and I had a strong itch to try out some of the expansions that I had missed along the way. First, I find out that it stops 10 levels below max and kicks you out. No big deal, I thought. I'll just cap my xp and keep the challenge alive. Well, come to find out there IS no challenge. I've tried leveling in four different expansions, out in the world and through dungeons and I can confidently say that Blizzard has removed every last bit of challenge from the leveling experience and ignored that it is even an issue. I don't have heirlooms equipped, I'm in quest greens / blues and I take virtually no damage from mobs, can kill anything in two or three hits and never feel threatened. I have died to GUARDS ONLY. Not once in a dungeon, not once doing quests, just walked into an enemy town and was killed in one hit. It isn't fun to not feel threatened in the world, something is fundamentally broken with scaling.
Everything scales to your level, there's no variation. The "boss mob" can't just be higher level, it is now either elite or exactly the same as the surrounding mobs. You can't try to tackle a higher level set of quests, or farm lower level mobs. You can't accidentally wander somewhere you're not supposed to be because you're allowed everywhere and to do everything. Some zones have level ranges, but as long as you're within those ranges there's no challenge to the questing. I have killed mobs in ONE ATTACK. Pulling more is fine, but when they die before I can even pull the next one something isn't right.
They had such an opportunity to score by allowing you to revisit 10+ years of expansions and play them at the appropriate challenge level, but playing those old expansions feels like questing in goldshire on a max level character and completing yellow quests feels like checking off a to do list.

2023.06.01 18:00 Acuity5 Still working on improving. I've decided to reduce the amount of things I use in PvP this season and try to stick to one general loadout for consistency while working on different skills this season.
For context, I have been trying to get better at individual skills like predicting where enemies are based on radar, use of cover, centering my crosshairs at head-height where enemies will be, Sticking with teammates, etc... I feel like lately I have not really been improving much, partly due to not being able to play as much PvP right now. The other part, I feel like I have been too un-focused on improving and have been too all over the place with new builds, new weapons, switching characters to often, using different rolls of similar guns. I was just trying out a bunch of things from my vault to see what I vibed with and if anything really clicked with me for some reason just on feel or if it had an interesting thing about it like a unique perk combo or wild stats. The problem is that I'm not really one to be super picky about what I use. As long as it has a decent PvP roll or seems like something cool to try I would try it out and see how it went. I don't think I was really getting to know the weapon because I would use it for maybe a day or two, and go back to Rose or some other meta weapon.
I've been browsing this subreddit for a while now and copying random tips and tricks into a spreadsheet I have with all kinds of PvP notes, and I came across
this post. The top comment by
u/jacobnee inspired me to take that advice and so I made a new build for my Titan with 2 variations for different ranges like he suggested. That I can switch to before matches to better suit the map/ enemy team. Right now I'm running:
Void Titan
Ward of Dawn - Towering Barricade - Strafe Lift - Shield Bash - Scatter Grenade
Aspects: Controlled Demolition + Bastion Echoes of Expulsion, Leeching, Obscurity and Dilation (all for armor Stats)
Exotic armor: Dunemarchers
Armor Stats: 50 mob, 100 Resil, 80 Recov, 70 Dis, 60 Int, 40 Str
Mods: Kinetic Targeting x2 / Unflinching x2/ Surge/ Dexterity/ Loader + Arc Holster + Better alreadyBomber + Utility Kickstart + Reaper
For weapons to cover the 3 ranges, I only have the Mid range one so far; Ace of Spades with Mechabre (or any sniper)
For the Short range one, I was thinking Immortal/ Ikelos SMG and a Matador
For the Long range one I was thinking NTTE and a Fusion Rifle
Does this sound Solid enough or is there anything I should change? For secondary weapons I am not dead-set on anything so If I should switch Mechabre to a different sniper I'll do it. I'm only using it now because I like it, but might switch to Mercurial Overreach if I land a good roll. I also have a pretty good 1000 Yard Stare and Frozen Orbit to pair with void subclass.
For the Immortal, I have not landed any super good rolls yet. The most i've been able to play Trials lately was for one whole Saturday a few weeks ago and I only was able to get maybe 10 of them and they all rolled poorly for PvP. I have a crafted Ikelos SMG that I like better right now, but I do want to land a Target Lock immortal.
And of course, if you have any build advice I will gladly take it. I'm rocking dunes right now just for the mobility. I know my Mobility stat isn't the greatest, but if I use d2armorpicker to put more stat points into mobility I can't get 100 of any other stats. I need to farm better armor with better spikes, but for now this is what I have.

2023.06.01 09:13 Escazio I wish class ability cool down wasn't tied to a specific stat.
I can't speak for anyone else but myself but I hate running mobility on a hunter. It's such a worthless stat. If it wasn't for the fact it effects my dodge cool down, I never would've touched it.
Extra strafe speed? A tiny bit higher initial jump? That's all it offers. Like recovery makes you regenerate much faster, resilience makes you far tankier. And mobility does what? In terms of value compared to other stats it's embarrassing. If it wasn't tied to dodge cool down, I would've thrown it away and focused on another stat.

2023.06.01 02:26 lotusmaglite Endgame noob questions
- I've been playing D2 since before LOD, but never bothered past Nightmare until D2R. I have my reasons. Anyway, now that I'm trying to play endgame Diablo, I have some questions, such as: Is it normal for Tower runs to take 20 minutes? That seems inefficient for what you get. I have a Strafe Bowazon who holds her own, but running around even at warp speed takes forever (see#2). For the record, I'm playing non-Ladder online on a PC. EDIT: I play solo, in case that wasn't clear.
- Should I be burning through my Teleport charges from my weapon switch Staff of Teleport? It seems expensive, since I can barely get through a run without having to recharge 3+ times. Am I doing it wrong? And if I'm supposed to teleport, am I supposed to just take my chances I don't get insta-killed when I drop into a mob? Because that's a thing that happens.
- How do I keep my Act 2 Blessed Aim Merc alive? He's got 75% resistance to everything, decent armor, and a Partizan with Insight, but he dies constantly. I spend in excess of 100k per run resurrecting him.
- Is there anything I can do to get better rune drops from The Countess? I've done endless runs, and she's never dropped anything higher than a Hel rune. I've cubed up to a Ko from lower drops. Supposedly, in Hell, she can drop up to Lo but LOLOLOLOL that ain't happening.
- Is all of the above just the normal experience? I'm doing it to assemble better runewords, but it's not fun. I imagine the better runewords will be fun, but this is drudgery. Thus, this post. If this is just how the game is played, I can't even. If I'm doing it all wrong, and there's a much more efficient way of gathering even mid-high runes, I sure would like to know what it is. All the guides I can find either tell me what I already know, or assume I have the gearunewords I'm trying to farm for.

2023.05.31 20:29 Pottige UK - 1440p Gaming PC around £2000 ($2500)
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
Gaming - I play a range of genres e.g. Sons of the forest, Crusader Kings 3, CoD MW2, Divinity Original Sin 2, Hogwarts Legacy. I'm hoping to be able to run Cities Skylines 2, Frostpunk 2, Hades 2 and Starfield when they are released.
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
Anything around £1800 - £2200. I can be reasonably flexible with this.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
ASAP
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower, OS, monitor. I already have a keyboard, mouse and gaming headset.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
UK (England).
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Corsair STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Razer Naga Chroma Mouse
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
I wanted to make the most of a deal for a Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XT (£758.99) from Overclockers UK and build around it. I'm open to other suggestions though! Other than that I'm hoping to play at 1440p 144hz or better if possible, I've been out the PC building game for too long lol
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
WiFi - Just something standard is OK here.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Yes, I saw the Fractal North Black case, the one with the wood panel and I thought it looked really cool so I hope I can make that work with my build. I'm have no strong feelings about LED lighting and I'm not bothered if it's there or not.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
I have it on my current PC, if I can't transfer it over then yes.
Extra info or particulars:
It's my second build so I kind of know what I'm doing but my first build was almost a decade ago. My brother has been bragging about his new xbox being more powerful so I need something to shut him up. I realy appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance to anyone who can take the time to comment.

2023.05.31 15:21 Nebur999 Thumb stick locomotion strange - bug?
I'm running ITR on the Pico4. Never played it on Quest or PC so I don't know if this is as expected or a bug and would appreciate feedback.
I'm using the setting that ignores head movement. The direction of locomotion corresponds to the direction of the stick in 'free space' instead of relative to the controller.
As an example
holding the stick forward (relative to the controller!) intending to walk forward, while
- pointing the controller forward
- the player moves forward as expected
- pointing the controller sideways
- strafes player to the corresponding side
- pointing the controller over a shoulder intending to reach for backpack while walking
- trying to use my left hand to do anything (e.g. reloading)
- results of course in total chaos (!)
Is this a bug in the Pico4 version of the game or intended behavior?
I can't imagine how guys in videos manage to move in a controlled manner while running away and reloading guns. That would be insane thumb acrobatics...

2023.05.31 03:40 Global_Ad2777 How do i get out of silver?
I've been playing this game for a month now, 140 hours, and just cant get out of silver. I did everything I could but nothing has happened, I learnt every single thing, aim training, pre-shots, popular places to hold, when to crouch, when to burst, single, spray, counter strafing, switching between left and right hand. But I'm still stuck out here on a 7 game loss streak demoting all the way back down to silver 2..... What am I doing wrong? (I may not be implementing those skills very well but I do them some if not most of the times...)
How can I improve as fast as possible? I've seen people with 100 hours and already at mg, why am I stuck?

2023.05.31 01:31 root_27 Lore-wise, what has been your favourite expansion?
I never played BFA when it was current content, but I wish i hadn't missed it. I actually went back and played most of the content after I re-subbed at the end of Shadowlands. I hear it wasn't great in terms of end game gearing and mechanics, but I can't get over how cool the lore was. Like they blew up Teldrasil and Under City! Jaina flew a ship!
I think i have spent more time playing BFA content than I have playing Dragonflight if i am honest. I completed the Alliance campaign, and I'm slowly working my way through the Horde one. In contrast I only played Shadowlands to get to max level before Dragonflight, and never felt the need to pay attention to any quest text (apart from maybe a little in Ardenwald).
What expansion do you think had the best concept, story and overall vibe. Ignoring gameplay and mechanics.

2023.05.31 00:28 SuperV1234 I am not enjoying the new remake -- here are my thoughts.
I've played for almost 3 hours. I don't really know what it is about it, but it's just not fun for me. Here's a bunch of thoughts:
- I hate the recycling/scrap mechanic. It pads the length of the game by forcing (or encouraging me) to grab a bunch of random crap and scrap it. I would say that out of 3 hours, probably 1/4 of that is picking up random ♥♥♥♥, inventory management, and recycling. What a boring mechanic. And before you say "you can ignore it", that's just not a good argument. If I ignore it I lose out on credits, weapon augmentations, supplies, etc. I don't know if there's an auto-scrapper augmentation later in the game, but something like that should be available from the very beginning.
- Melee combat is one of the worst I've ever seen. Feels extremely floaty, there's poor feedback in the attacks, the range of your weapon is not obvious, and the hits don't feel satisfying (there's no weight to them). Honestly, a basic block + counterattack system and some "oomph" would have made melee much more fun. As it stands, it's a chore. Honestly, it's basic game mechanic design: have the enemy charge up an attack that can be blocked and open up an opportunity for counter-attack, and if you screw up your timing you get punished for it. At the moment, the most effective startegy is charging up an attack, moving forward, releasing, moving backwards, rinse and repeat. Brain-numbing.
- Ranged combat is a bit better, but it still lacks "oomph" for lack of a better term. The pistol feels like a pea shooter. I want every bullet fired to feel like a little explosion, not an airsoft BB gun. Leaning and crouching should make me a smaller target, but it seems that it doesn't matter -- as long as any part of my body is exposed, it will get hit. Rather than the combat being exciting, it feels more like a "peek, shoot, repeat" loop. Some modernization in this area would have been nice, for example mechanics where you have to interrupt an enemy's attack by shooting a specific point, or some sort of mechanic that prevents you from winning every fight via the "peek, shoot, repeat" technique (maybe faster flaking enemies?). In general, I feel like combat should be a faster and more deadly. Make it feel like a fight to the death, not a pool noodle slap contest.
- A lot of the time feels wasted backtracking, e.g. when out of energy and looking for an energy station. There are teleporters in the game already, some sort of unlockable teleport-based travel system that allows you to move through a previously-explored level quickly would have been nice. Maybe die-hard fans of the original game will hate that, but the backtracking didn't age well as a game mechanic. My choice is to either: (1) waste a battery or (2) backtrack to an energy station. It's not a fun choice, as it depends on time and convenience, not resource management. I shouldn't be thinking "I will use a battery because I can't be arsed to spend 5 minutes backtracking to the energy station", I should be thinking "oh ♥♥♥♥, I'm being swarmed and if I don't use a battery I will die!".
- Cyberspace looks great, but -- again -- the combat feels very bad and slow-paced. I really don't find it fun keeping M1 pressed forever while circle-strafing around every enemy. It's brain-numbing. How about a dash move and attacks that must be avoided that way? Some modernization/gamification here would have been nice as well. It also feels like everything IS SO SLOW. Projectile speed is slow. Movement speed is slow. It just feels "floaty", and I can't really explain why.
- Too many animations. Seriously, I don't want to watch the same animation every time I get an audio log. Play it ONCE, then never again. Or give me an options to disable it. Same with healing items, grenades, etc. It makes everything much more slow-paced and "artificial". This is something the original game actually did better, everything felt "snappy" and "instant". Do I really have to watch 50 coins drop ONE BY ONE at the recycler, every single time I recycle a bunch of stuff? Did nobody complain about this in beta testing? Same for battery usage and energy station usage. Yes, it looks pretty cool the first time you see the animation. After the 5th time, you wish there was no animation at all.
- This is subjective, but the original's music was exciting and pumping. The remake's music feels more "professional" and "polished", but lacks the catchiness and excitement of the original's. This contributes to the slow-paced feeling.
- I understand that some enemies are better dispatched with certain weapons and ammo types. However, there's no visual/auditory feedback about it. It doesn't have to be a CoD hit-marker, but some sort of hint that the weapon/ammo you're using is ineffective would feel great. Imagine a high-pitched ricochet sound + sparks when shooting a robotic enemy with normal pistol rounds. Likewise, imagine an electrocution animation + sound when using the mag-pulse. As an example, I wasted 20 pistol rounds on one of those floating toxic enemies before realizing that it was uneffective -- intuitively I would assume that it was an organic enemy, and kinetic ammunition would have been effective. But the game gave me no visual/auditory feedback on that.
- I felt like I could cheese through any radiation/toxic area in the first three levels by using one or two medipatches, including the part where you grab the isotope. I don't remember if it was this easy in the original, but I just completely ignored radiation and toxicity. What's the point? Trading one medipatch to enter a specific area is not a fun game mechanic, IMHO.
- Grenades are another example of something that could have been modernized to feel better and more fast-paced. Rather than equipping the grenade and then using it, it would have been nice to have a dedicated hotkey to throw one without having to switch your weapon, and another hotkey to cycle through grenade types.
- I like the new puzzles.
- I was really disappointed that the item-finding radar augmentation I found did not show objects on my HUD, rather only in the radar. It would have been cool to turn it on and see a bunch of objects being highlighted on the screen.
In conclusion, I'm not really impressed. It is not a bad game by any means, but I am quite disappointed after the waiting time. Everything just feels too floaty/slow-paced and not really fun or exciting. It also doesn't feel scary or stressful, it just feels sort of plain. If it were me, I'd make combat more fast-paced and deadly, increase movement/shooting/enemy speed, remove all the padding (animations, recycling, etc), and focus on making the fundamental mechanics (combat, exploration, movement, hacking) of the game more fun, rewarding and better at providing video/audio feedback to the user.
