AITA for asking my neighbour to remove her washing line screws from my fence panel?

2023.06.02 23:31 NewParty1664 AITA for asking my neighbour to remove her washing line screws from my fence panel?

Some background: me and my neighbour both rent connected semi detached houses (different landlords) and we’re good friends.
Here’s the issue, I’ve had a fair few frustrations that I’ve always held my tongue on to keep the peace, so I feel this last one tipped me over the edge and I said something that has annoyed her.
Basically a few months ago my landlord installed a new fence to replace a hedge between our gardens (my landlords boundary). I’m lucky as it’s a very nice and expensive looking one. A week ago my neighbour put up lights along it that hang over my side - annoying but not that big a deal. She attached the solar panel on top and it’s a bit annoying as it’s a bit of an eyesore but again, not the end of the world. Then whilst I was out yesterday she got her dad to screw in 2 hooks to attach 2 washing lines across her garden into one of the fence panels. I was really frustrated at this as I have previously told her she’s not able to screw anything into the fence without my landlords permission, as it’s legally my landlords property and not either of ours. (She was going to screw something on the top.) I’d had enough and sent her a message to let her know that hanging wet washing onto the panel could damage it from the weight, and that she would be liable for the repair if that happened which I didn’t want for her (she’s on maternity leave so short on money right now). I asked if she could move the line onto one of the concrete posts by wrapping it around the top. I also asked her to move the solar panel into the ground where it is designed to go. She said she was allowed to do what she wanted on her side of the fence, but when I googled this the information I could find very much backed up what I believed about it being my landlords property. I explained this and said I was worried I would have to pay damages to my landlord if anything happened but she assured me she would pay. I told her I would ask my landlord if they were happy with this and unfortunately they said no to anything being attached. My neighbour replied that I should just not tell them and she would replace the panel if anything happened.
Here’s where I’m worried I’m the AH. I told her I was sorry but she had to remove the screws as it wasn’t her, or my, property and therefore not our decision to make (I’m also concerned that if anything did get damaged she wouldn’t replace like for like, meaning I would still end up having to pay out).
She’s now told me she’s annoyed with me and I’m being petty as she’s said she will cover any damages. I gave her some different washing line options but she’s told me she won’t remove the screws. I’ve left it by telling her I’ll leave it with her, as if I push anymore I can tell she will go off at me and I hate confrontation.
So AITA for telling her to remove the screws even though she’s said she will cover any damage that her washing lines inflict? I do feel this whole thing is petty to be hones.

2023.06.02 21:51 DubiousPeaches Can my landlord enter my front/backyard without notice?

This is in CA. I read laws regarding needing to provide notice for entering a unit, which I take to mean coming inside the house. I live in a house where there are two houses on one property. My house is completely enclosed by a fence with a gate and the yard is part of my lease. Lately, my landlord has been coming over unannounced and entering my yard without notice to check if trees need to be trimmed, letting handyman come look at the sprinklers, etc all without notifying me in advance or one time calling me saying she is right outside the gate and letting me know she is coming in now. Is this legal? I would like to have advance 24 hr notice if there is anyone entering my gate but want to confirm if that is the legal requirement in CA.

Hard Water Buildup in Your Samsung Washer? Here's a Solution!
Are you feeling frustrated with hard water buildup in your Samsung washer?
Introducing effective tips and tricks to combat hard water buildup, this guide aims to provide you with the knowledge to restore your Samsung washer's functionality. Remember to always consult your Samsung washer's user manual for specific instructions and recommendations regarding cleaning and maintenance. By following these tips and tricks, you can effectively combat hard water buildup and restore your Samsung washer's functionality.
Use Vinegar for Cleaning: Vinegar is a versatile natural cleaner that can effectively dissolve hard water deposits. Fill a spray bottle with equal parts white vinegar and water, then spray the solution onto the affected areas, such as the detergent dispenser, drum, and door seal. Let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub gently with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Clean the Detergent Dispenser: The detergent dispenser is prone to hard water buildup. Remove the dispenser drawer from your Samsung washer and soak it in a mixture of warm water and vinegar. Scrub away any residue or buildup with a soft brush or toothbrush. Rinse it thoroughly before placing it back into the washer.

Descale with Citric Acid: Citric acid is another effective solution for removing hard water deposits. Dissolve a few tablespoons of citric acid in warm water and pour the solution into the detergent dispenser. Run a hot water cycle without any clothes. This will help break down the mineral deposits and keep your washer clean.

Clean the Filters: Check your washer's filters regularly and clean them to prevent clogs and buildup. Refer to your user manual for the location and instructions on how to clean the filters. Typically, you'll need to remove the filter, rinse it under running water, and scrub away any debris or buildup.
Use Water Softeners: Consider using water softeners to minimize the effects of hard water on your washer. Water softeners help reduce the mineral content in the water, preventing buildup. You can use commercial water softening products or install a whole-house water softener system if hard water is a persistent issue in your area.

Regular Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks recommended by the manufacturer. This may include running self-cleaning cycles, wiping down the drum and door seal after each use, and keeping the washer's exterior clean.
Or you can call any professional appliance repair service near. They handle hard water buildup for you.

2023.06.02 18:13 NoYoureACatLady Need ideas for xeriscaping 100x30 backyard lawn. It's a disaster and we need help

The yard is about 100' x 30' for reference.
So I live on some acreage that's all weeds and whatever weird natural crap grows in my area (Denver), but kid wanted a backyard so like 7 years ago we put in a decent size backyard in, with a nice metal fence, plants around the outside with rocks, and a big lawn. It's been a f@#$ing bear to maintain, expensive, and the local landscape maintenance companies disappear overnight all the time. In 7 years we've had 4 companies and last year, we were kinda mired in depression around here and we didn't even mow once. It's now a massive mess, weeds everywhere in the rocks around the plants, the grass is at least 50% dead (thatched and layed down and killed itself in the sun).
OK, cut to today, nobody goes out there, ever. Kid is old enough to not use the playground anymore, and we're all indoor cats around here. But we can't live like this and want it cleaned up and usable somehow.
I got a quote for $4k (to start, might be more) to get it back to decent shape. And it's all a maybe because they can't really guarantee how many man-hours to pull the weeds, trim the good plants, repair and re-seed the grass, etc. It's a big "if".
What if we xeriscaped! Both companies that gave us quotes suggested it as an option.
What looks good in a backyard rectangular lawn this size (100x30)? Where can I find good ideas and make sure we like the concept?
Thanks.

2023.06.02 17:34 firedamag48 Fire Damage Restoration Near Me

Fire Damage Restoration Near Me
Fire Damage Restoration Near Me https://comfort-builders.net/ Seattle, Washington, United States
https://preview.redd.it/75a0wlgvim3b1.jpg?width=710&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=439ce060ac965afd63f214391d320f415a6565a1
Fire damage restoration refers to the process of cleaning, repairing, and restoring a property that has been affected by a fire. Fires can cause significant damage to a building's structure, as well as its contents, due to flames, smoke, and the water used to extinguish the fire. Fire damage restoration professionals are trained to assess the extent of the damage and undertake the necessary steps to restore the property to its pre-fire condition. Here are the general steps involved in fire damage restoration:
Emergency Contact: The first step is to contact a professional fire damage restoration company. They will respond quickly to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance.
Assessment: Upon arrival, the restoration professionals will assess the extent of the fire damage. This includes inspecting the affected areas, identifying the type of fire (such as electrical, grease, or chemical fire), and determining the scope of restoration required.
Securing the Property: If the fire has caused structural damage, the restoration team will secure the property to prevent further damage and ensure safety. They may board up windows, cover damaged roofs, or fence off hazardous areas.
Water Removal and Drying: If water was used to extinguish the fire, the restoration team will start the process of water extraction and drying. They use specialized equipment like pumps, vacuums, and dehumidifiers to remove water and moisture from the affected areas.
Smoke and Soot Cleanup: Smoke and soot can spread throughout the property, leaving behind stains, odors, and potential health hazards. Restoration professionals use specialized techniques and equipment to clean the surfaces, remove soot, and eliminate smoke odors. This may involve dry cleaning, wet cleaning, and the use of air scrubbers and fogging equipment.
Structural Repair: Depending on the extent of the fire damage, structural repairs may be necessary. This can involve repairing or replacing damaged walls, floors, ceilings, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Restoring the structural integrity of the building is crucial to ensure safety.
Content Cleaning and Restoration: The restoration team will assess the damage to the property's contents, including furniture, appliances, clothing, documents, and personal belongings. Salvageable items will be cleaned, deodorized, and restored. In some cases, items may need to be taken off-site for specialized cleaning and restoration.
Odor Removal: Fire damage can leave lingering odors that are unpleasant and hard to eliminate. Restoration professionals employ various techniques such as ozone treatment, thermal fogging, or air filtration to remove odors and improve indoor air quality.
Reconstruction and Restoration: Once the property is cleaned, dried, and deodorized, the restoration team will begin the reconstruction process. This involves rebuilding damaged areas, repainting, installing new flooring, and restoring the property to its pre-fire condition.
Fire damage restoration is a complex process that requires expertise and specialized equipment. It is important to hire a reputable fire damage restoration company that is experienced in handling fire-related emergencies and can efficiently restore your property.

2023.06.02 13:59 Infinite_Chest_3141 Raffle for a Guitar made from wood reclaimed from the Money Pit

Raffle for a Guitar made from wood reclaimed from the Money Pit
Not a Scam. Please hear me out.
I thought folk may be interested in this raffle by the Masons Lodge in Chester, Nova Scotia and wanted to bring attention to it as I don’t believe that it is well known and a unique opportunity.
In a nutshell, you could own a piece of Oak Island history!
A guitar made out of wood from Oak Island, specifically from the money pit shaft itself that was buried for over a Century.
Tickets are $10 each with 100 tickets for $100. Tickets can be purchased online at:
www.rafflebox.ca (search for guitar).
The draw is on October 9th at Clarke Lodge No. 61 Chester, Nova Scotia.
A member of the Masons Lodge made the guitar of the 300-year old reclaimed wood from the 94th foot level of the ‘Money Pit’ shaft. FDR (yes, the former President of the United States 🇺🇸) had a hand directly in this shaft and trying to solve the mystery of Oak Island.
Please see the attached article and picture of the guitar.
I believe any and all support would be greatly appreciated.

The young girl paused, her gaze fixated upon them with unwavering intensity. Seconds stretched into an eternity as Raphael held his breath, waiting for a sign, a glimmer of trust. And then, finally, it came—a subtle nod, barely perceptible, yet filled with unspoken understanding. It was a flicker of affirmation that resonated deep within him, lifting the weight of uncertainty from his weary shoulders. Relief flooded through his veins like a soothing balm, grateful that he had managed to persuade her to join their escape, sparing her from the desolate fate of being left behind. With determination in her eyes, Sanya reached out and clasped Raphael's hand, mustering every ounce of her weakened strength to lift herself up from the cold, unforgiving floor. As she rose, her fragile frame trembled, bearing the visible signs of prolonged hunger and deprivation. Her cheeks were hollowed, etched with the haunting shadows of days without any food. As Raphael eyed her from up and down, his stomach began to grumble.
“Sorry, right now, we don’t have anything but we will get you something as soon as possible. Do you have enough strength left to run or should we carry you?”, Raphael wanted to know. “I think, I ca-”, Sanya started before getting interrupted by George as he scooped her up, holding her in a princess carry. “We don’t have that much time, ya know? I am all for helping her, but if she can’t keep up, we will be slowed down and caught again. And this time they will not just capture us, I guess.”, the Orc said grumpily. “Ya have to put up with it, till we are safe, okay little princess?” “O-o-okay.”, Sanya said intimidated. “Good, Raphael, ya need to be up front. No cold feet, understood?”, George said.
Filled with newfound determination, Raphael stepped forward, taking the lead as they ascended the stairs. To his right, hanging on a solitary nail, he spotted the keyring that held the keys to their former cells. And directly ahead of him loomed a sturdy bulkhead door, a barrier between their confined world and the unknown outside. Proceeding with caution, Raphael exerted gentle pressure on the door, creating a narrow gap that offered a glimpse into the world beyond. As his eyes beheld the sight before him, a sense of stark contrast washed over his senses. There, sprawling beyond the threshold, lay a meticulously maintained garden, resplendent in vibrant shades of green. A winding gravel path led their gaze toward the very cellar they had longed to escape. But what caught Raphael's attention was the centerpiece—a fountain adorned with a striking modern art sculpture, an arrangement of hexagons and rectangles. Though Raphael had never quite grasped the allure of this particular art form, his focus now remained fixed on the grand manor standing tall in classic English architectural elegance. He knew all too well that such properties commanded exorbitant prices, symbols of immense wealth. This revelation only grew more apparent as his eyes fell upon the carport housing at least three luxurious supercars, each one a testament to opulence and excess. Having indulged in his fair share of mindless television, Raphael was all too aware that properties of this caliber were rife with surveillance, their every move scrutinized. It seemed as if all hope was slipping through their fingers, until a revelation pierced through the haze of uncertainty. In a secluded corner, a cage confined the majestic Griffin, captive against its will. The flicker of an idea ignited within Raphael's mind—a daring plan to unleash chaos and diversion. If he could dismantle the bars of the Griffins cage, setting the magnificent creature free, the resulting pandemonium would create the perfect distraction, enabling them to jump over the fence that encircled the property and forge their path to freedom, if the Griffin did not decide to attack them instead.
“I have a plan to get out of here. But it is dangerous.”, Raphael began explaining his plan.
As Raphael delved into the details of their predicament and outlined his audacious plan for their escape, he couldn't help but notice the growing gravity etched across George's face and the fading of colors from Sanya's. The weight of his words settled upon him, weaving a tapestry of doubt and uncertainty. Even as he spoke, the very sound of his own voice seemed to echo with the specter of a perilous undertaking—a mission that bordered on the brink of death and played with it. Yet, in his heart, he saw no alternative. Desperation propelled his determination forward, and the need for a diversion, compelled him to consider the Griffin as their savior. Regrettably, he alone possessed the ability to dismantle the confining bars of the creature's cage, thus placing the weight of this outright crazy task solely upon his own shoulders. Seeking solace in his own reasoning, Raphael attempted to convince himself that this act of self-sacrifice would give purpose to his existence. Perhaps, safeguarding the lives of his companions and giving his life while doing so, was the meaning why he was born. A huge contradiction to the bitter reproach his father had hurled at him in moments of drunken tirades. In the wake of his revelations, a hushed silence enveloped the trio, hanging heavy with unspoken thoughts and uncharted emotions, until it was Sanya who finally broke the stillness, her voice infused with a mix of trepidation and resolve.
“Uhm. If you can use magic, why can't you just not throw it?”, Sanya asked innocently.

2023.06.02 09:44 passionisten Getting a pup, mom has concerns. Counterarguments/reassurement?

Hi! Me and BF very very probably getting a pup soon, in a week or so! It's the first dog for us both (kinda) and we're super excited, nervous and eager to make the best life possible for her!
When I told my mom she were kinda iffy/a bit dismissive of the JRT as a breed, and tried to imply that she wouldn't help to dogsit if needed, cause it "might be hard to leash walk properly and bark and be unruly". So , I grew up with Danish Swedish Farmdogs, and that would've also been my first choice of dog. They look a lot like JRT, but are supposed to be calmer and have a pinscher-like demeanor, a guard- and rat catcher-dog. And she absolutely meant ( or told me) I should get a DSF instead.
She did backtrack when I said that 1) I'm gonna do my absolute best to train her properly, since I also want a well behaved dog, and 2) did she really wanna go down the road of "i won't help you unless you choose my favourite dog breed"? She doesn't have a say or a veto, helping out is voluntary, not something to be leveraged in my(+BFs) decision. She conceded.
I am however, ofcourse a bit nervous about the differences, and some of the concerns she had. The biggest one being their hunting instincts, and most importantly, our country house.
It's a cottage in the woods, 100+ yards to any road and some farmland nearby. No fencing of any kind. There's no danger to the dog there, and in this part of Sweden there's no real worry for predators, boars are the biggest issue, otherwise it's just deer, foxes, a badger or two, and once some cows escaped their grazing area and came sneaking onto our property. But I am worried that she might want to run off into the woods one night and we won't be able to call her back, that her instincts would be different from the dogs I grew up with, and they'd be stronger than her training. I'll spend ca three months training her before going back to work & school, what can I do from the start to make sure she'll listen to calling? She seems to have a very calm and slightly shy demeanour.
Sorry for such a long post, guess I needed to vent a bit. Advice, assurance for me (or my mom) and possibly some pep would be much appreciated! Lotsa love! xoxo
TLDR; Does my mom have a point in saying JRT might be inclined to run away from our country house/in the woods? If so, how do i train and prevent her from doing that? Any other tips for a soon to be JRT-owner?

How to Maintain and Care for Your Privacy Fence in Annapolis
A Privacy Fence Serves Multiple Purposes for Homeowners in Annapolis, Maryland. It Not Only Provides a Sense of Security and Seclusion but Also Enhances the Aesthetics of the Property. However, Like Any Other Outdoor Structure, a Privacy Fence Requires Regular Maintenance and Care to Ensure Its Longevity and Effectiveness.
Regular Cleaning: the First Step in Maintaining Your Privacy Fence Annapolis Is to Keep It Clean. Dirt, Dust, and Grime Can Accumulate Over Time, Making the Fence Appear Dull and Worn. Use a Mixture of Mild Soap and Water to Scrub the Fence, or You Can Use a Pressure Washer on a Low Setting. Remember to Rinse Thoroughly to Avoid Any Residue.
Inspect for Damage: Regularly Inspect Your Privacy Fence for Any Signs of Damage Such as Loose Boards, Broken Pickets, or Rotted Wood. Addressing These Issues Promptly Will Prevent Them from Worsening and Potentially Compromising the Integrity of the Entire Fence. Replace or Repair Any Damaged Parts to Ensure the Fence Remains Sturdy and Secure.

Stain or Paint: Applying a Protective Finish to Your Privacy Fence Is Essential for Preserving Its Appearance and Increasing Its Lifespan. Staining or Painting the Fence Not Only Enhances Its Visual Appeal but Also Helps to Protect the Wood from Weathering, Rot, and Insect Damage. Choose a High-Quality Exterior-Grade Stain or Paint That Is Specifically Designed for Outdoor Use.
Trim Vegetation: Overgrown Vegetation Can Put Unnecessary Stress on Your Privacy Fence, Causing It to Weaken or Warp. Regularly Trim Any Plants, Vines, or Shrubs That Are Growing Too Close to the Fence. This Will Not Only Prevent Them from Causing Damage but Also Enhance the Overall Look of Your Property.
