2023.05.30 23:56 HisDoodeness El Yunque and La Ruta del Lechon
We're a family of four (including two 8-year old boys) planning 1-2 weekend days (Sat and/or Sun) to visit El Yunque and surrounding areas, while based in San Juan. We're most interested in swimming (waterfalls and charcos), food (lechon), and some quick+easy hikes (nothing more than an hour roundtrip).
Looking at drive times in Google maps it seems feasible to do La Ruta del Lechon > El Yunque > Luqillo beach kiosks in one day (~3.5 hrs roundtrip from San Juan). A few questions:
- Is that true, or would we need two days? (staying overnight in the area)
- Would you begin w/ La Ruta del Lechon or El Yunque? I've read that lechon road (PR-184) can become gridlocked in the afternoon but that El Yunque is likewise very busy on weekend afternoons.
- To save time, should we skip the ticketed La Mina area of El Yunque and just drive the outskirts (PR-988, PR-191) visiting stops like Charco El Hippie if they're quite similar to the main El Yunque park?
- Is the El Toro scenic byway (PR-186) worth the extra drive time when completing the circuit?
- Bonus: What trails/waterfalls/swimming holes would you recommend within and around El Yunque that require at most a quick and easy hike?

2023.05.30 23:48 mikhamberamkhooneh (CA) want to give 30 days notice to terminate my month-to-month lease with my tenant renting a room for $1000/month.
Hi all. Like the above states, I want to give my roommate (she rents a room from me in my condo) a 30 days notice. Her lease states that she cannot have any overnight guests, but she announced a week ago that her boyfriend would be staying for a few days. I tentatively said this was okay. Now he’s in and out (with the door code she’s given him), he’s rude to me, she’s incredibly rude & disrespectful in her treatment of me, and I find myself being uncomfortable in my home. Additionally, I never know if she’s going to pay rent on time as she’s often late, and this leaves me paying overdraft fees to my bank. As this is no longer a pleasant situation for me, I’d like to give her a 30 day notice. She signed a basic month-to-month rental agreement with me, which states that either party can terminate with 30 days notice. I live in LA county in the San Gabriel Valley. Am I within my rights to give her a 30 days notice to terminate the lease? I am only confused because of all of the Covid renters protections that have been in place. And I am wanting to get her out within 30 days because if her boyfriend lives in my house for longer than that, he may be considered a legal talent. Thank you so much in advance!!

2023.05.30 23:44 P99163 Pushy vendors and panhandlers at the border
Yesterday, we were crossing from Tijuana to San Diego by car fort the first time, and we were a bit unnerved by all the stuff going on in the lanes leading up to the border.
People selling food, hats, belts, blankets and what-not. Little kids running back and forth with a cup begging for money, slightly older kids trying to wash your windshield and then begging for money if you say "No" to them. Just a total clusterfuck. I understand there is poverty and people need to survive, so they don't particularly seem to care whether their kid will get run over by car or not, but what about the Mexican authorities (Policia Municipal)? This is child abuse, no matter how you slice it.
