I really hate to day this because I was very much against trading Jaylen last summer, but I think it’s become apparent that JB doesn’t deserve the supermax contract. I’m sure that we will remain in contention with him and JT, but I just don’t know if he’s good enough to make that kind of money. KD might have put us over the top this year and he still has plenty of years left on his contract. We could have had him locked down for years.
It’s not even just us. If you really think about it, ya trading for KD would have been best case scenario for everyone. We get KD, the nets get a real star to rebuild around, and the suns don’t shoot themselves in the foot by sacrificing their whole team.
I know KD gets hurt a lot and that’s a serious concern but I honestly think we win it all this year with KD. I don’t like him at all, but this is just how I feel at this point. But we will be signing JB so I hope I’m wrong.

So this morning my fiancee's neighbor tried to kill his girlfriend in her sleep. We got woken up to a girl pounding on the door covered in blood and begging for help, stabbed in the neck at least 3 times. Credit to ravenswood police and emt, they were here within 5 minutes TOPS. They found the dude in 20 minutes. The cops said she almost died on route to the hospital but was in stable condition before they cleared the crime scene... My 17M's brother 20M used to be a smart guy. He had aspirations of joining the military and he had good grades. Then our dad got out of prison and started to hang out with my brother. My dad is a pathetic little rat of a man. All skin and bone from drugs, 5'4" and a messed up leg from a car accident. Yet he walks around thinking he's the main character of some crime movie. And if you so much as make a joke he thinks is "Disrespect" He gets in your face and threatens you. Now my brother has been taking after this personality. Smoking dope everyday and walking around with his "Gang" Wearing bandanas around his face and talking in stupid thug language.

I tried negotiating for him not to do that but he just kept going "Don't worry its fine"

Luckily I took a break from college so those kids didn't have to get jumped and beaten by some oversized delinquents.
What can I do to snap some sense into my brother?

I’ve recently started at a hybrid position. We work a 9/80 schedule, so we put in 9 hours a day and get every other Friday off. Their philosophy is “we don’t care when you do it, just get your hours in”.
This is great for me because of my chronic pain. Sitting at a desk all day is very painful, and I need at least an hour in the morning to stretch, take my meds, eat enough so my meds don’t make me sick, etc. Not having a hard start/ finish time is great, and I really don’t mind working past 5. I have no kids, no reason I can’t work late.
On the days I work from home, I’ve worked as late as 8pm with no issues. If I’m in the zone, I don’t really care what time it is. But on office days, most everyone (except the managers) is gone by 2:30. My company has “core hours”, meaning people come in until 2:30 and then can finish their day from home.
I asked my boss about it, and he basically said I need to earn the right to do core hours. Once he sees how I work and trusts that I won’t just go home and screw around, I can do it. That’s more than fair and I’m eager to prove myself.
But in the meantime, I’ve noticed that I get extremely anxious when everyone else leaves. Pretty sure it’s just jealousy. But by 3:30 on office days I’m crawling out of my skin, desperate to go home because everyone else did.
I know I should just mind my own business, but I can’t help but be intensely aware of it. The last 1.5 hour of my day is almost useless because I’m sitting there trying to manage my anxiety.
Wondering if y’all have any advice on things I can do/ say to myself to manage this anxiety. Coming in earlier really isn’t an option if I want to maintain my morning routine. I can’t roll out of bed and go to work like most people, and I know I won’t be able to consistently get up any earlier than 5:45 (my current routine).

I am in a current situation with the HOA. There’s a leak coming from the exterior when it rains. I created a work order with the HOA on 1/10 to send an exterior contractor. They ignored me until 2/6 but sent someone to check the interior drywall. I kept asking that someone needs to go check the exterior. Once again ignored. They sent the interior contractor on 5/5 and they tore up the drywall. They finally sent someone out to check the exterior on 5/17 but I have yet to hear any updates. I have a tenant living there and per California law, the landlord has 30 days to do repairs otherwise the tenant can withhold rent money or terminate their lease. I need advise on what to do in this situation. 6/5 will be the deadline for the 30 days and I’m already giving my tenant a discount for the inconvenience.
I’ve contacted the contractor that did the interior mitigation and he stated that the HOA hasn’t given the approval or signed a contract to do the repairs on the inside. What can I do legally about this?

I am currently working in a beverage flavor lab. Using a lab coat and wearing cotton shirts has helped keep the odor at a minimum. I have also noticed that not washing my hair as often and keeping it oily helps my hair not catch the odors. Are there any other tips that you have to deodorize clothes and/or hair after a day of working at a flavor lab? Or any tips to prevent the odors from sticking in the first place ?

I was doing some work east of the KC Metro this morning on I-70 and on the way back I stopped at a gas station for gas and I noticed an Indian guy in a grey honda minivan with his wife and 2 kids going around talking to people there. I didn’t think anything of it and got gas and as I left they pulled up next to me and asked to lower my window down. He said he was in the area for memorial day weekend, and headed back to California and his wallet either got stolen or he lost it and he needed money for gas and food to get back. I said I’d give him a few bucks but I realized I didn’t have any cash on me. He begged me to run in to the atm at the gas station. I wanted cash anyway so I offered to. When I parked he came up to my vehicle and started thanking me nonstop and offered to give me his gold necklace and he gave me his phone number so he could pay me back. I thought it made sense, since his license plate was from California and he had a California area code with his phone number. He wanted a couple hundred dollars since its a few day drive for gas and food for his kids. I guess i’m a sucker and an uncultured idiot cuz I found out its a pretty common scam. I’ve never heard of it before and it fooled me good. So ig this is for anyone thats never heard of it either and is generous enough to offer money. Also, I have a fake 18k gold chain if anyone wants it

I’m really struggling mentally and I know it’s down to cleaning. For those that don’t get it, probably think I’m so dumb, and trust me I know, it shouldn’t be this hard to just do it. But I so badly want to be a clean, tidy organised person but I just don’t know where to start.
I was brought up in a messy household, and since I have gotten my own house, I realise how I quite literally don’t know how to do anything and it’s so overwhelming.
Simply things that most people probably don’t even think about. Like how often do I need to hoover? How do you clean a bath and why does it get those water lines instantly after ‘cleaning’ it? Why do I have corners of a room piled up with rubbish that I don’t need but can’t seem to throw away? Etc
I look online for tips and how to do stuff but there is so many options that it’s so overwhelming so I just shut it down and leave it for tomorrow but tomorrow never seems to come. And when I do get those clear days where I clean the best I know how, I blink and it’s like a bombs gone off again.
It’s just me and my partner and we are hoping to start a family soon so I know it’s only going to get much worse and I need to end this cycle before I pass this sinking feeling when it come to tidying to my (hopefully) future children.
Any advice from someone who has been in the same situation but has managed to turn it around and find a way for cleaning not to become a never ending cycle would be much appropriated.

Hello!
So to start with, my doctor diagnosed 30mg elvanse per day, for 28 days. I didn't notice any improvement really and so they upped it to 40mg.
I noticed a great improvement but it was short lived and inconsistent - only really lasted up until lunch time and not as noticeable on some days as others
Doctor then gives me 5mg Ritalin to take in the afternoon - this only lasted 2 weeks before a review in which i said I still wasn't noticing any improvement in the afternoons
They have now taken me back off the ritalin, and said to try and split my 40mg into morning and afternoons - he's also increased the time between reviews to like 3 monthly
So my concern is that since 30mg didn't really do a lot for me, how is 20mg in the morning and 20mg in the afternoon going to help?
I've been quite happy to chop and change this medication whenever they've advised it but I'm worried that if this doesn't work out so well, then it's going to be for 3 months instead of 1 until I can discuss
The psychiatrist is also handing over my prescriptions to my GP and I'm unsure if this means titration over or are we still adjusting?
I'm already noticing it's way less effective in work but I don't know if I need to just stick it out and raise on my next review or speak to my GP now?
Anyone have similar experiences?

Please feel free to skip this rant, I'm only typing this out because I can't hold it in anymore.
I scored 76%ile in my first mains attempt. My parents had high hopes from me, and I completely shattered all of their expectations. Though they did not scold me/ tell it to me directly, it was clear as day in their faces how disappointed they were.
They tried to cheer me up, and try harder for the next attempt, but I could see that they were becoming as hopeless as I was.
I half-assed my boards by not studying for most days in the study leave, and pulling all nighters on the day of each and every exam. Because of this, I was scared that i won't clear the 75% criteria, and when I told this to my parents, again, they were supportive and told me not to worry. But once again, I could see that they were both stressed about my results.
I scored 86%ile in my 2nd mains attempt, and my will to live fell down drastically. Disappointed, I told my result to my parents. To my shock, both of them were extremely happy with it, focusing on my improvement from 76 to 86, rather than the fact that I was still getting fuckall.
They treated me to a nice family dinner, but all I could think about was how big of a fraud I am and how shit of a son I am.
Since then, I have given viteee, met, mht cet, bitsat-1 (Vit 19k rank, met 97 marks, mht cet 125 marks, and bitsat 152🤡).
I am getting cse in VIT vellore in cat 5 (fees is almost 30L). I have a sliver of hope that I will get a good college from cet, but that's about it.
My parents have held vit to a very high standard (due to word of mouth from their friends and colleagues), and were quite happy with my viteee result, again, to my shock. I was extremely disappointed at getting cat 5 and I know that it is not worth it. I tried explaining all the reasons to my parents, and tried to convince them to let me join a lower branch at Manipal instead.
They had a talk with me and took opinions from their friends, and told me that they do not want me to stress over the fees (my parents do not have financial issues), and that they do not see my education as an investment ( this was after I told them about the bad ROI of cat 5 at vit). They said that vit is a good college and that it won't be wise to give up the seat, given my specific situation.
Ever since this happened, I have been dying from the inside of guilt.
I haven't worked hard for anything in my entire life, my parents have given me everything I have ever needed. I am a fraud, and a leech.
My parents are now expecting me to land a seat in bits, and I want to as well, but i just feel so fucking burnt out, that I can't physically get myself to study. I won't be able to look my parents in their eyes after the 2nd attempt.
TLDR: My parents are saints, and they don't deserve the pain of having a shitstain of a son like me.

I also am wanting to find the episode where they talked about big poops for multiple minutes. Notably one of them shared how when they were younger at summer camp. Someone left a large poop in a toilet and it was left there for days as people would admire just how large the poop was.

So after almost 48 hours straight of clicking a single button, I was finally able to add a RG final ticket to my cart only for my payment to not be processed within 15 minutes. I tried every single one of my 10 credit cards, logged in on different devices to see that the cart does not transfer from one device to another even if it’s the same account, and even called them only to see they don’t have dedicated phone representatives. So this is definitely a problem on RG’s end. To make matters even worse, I was able to get a grounds pass a few days ago and payment processed just fine. I am now questioning why, just why, it worked just fine on a ticket that didn’t matter to me and I am getting bent over when it does. I certainly will not travel thousands of miles and commit thousands of dollars just to use a grounds pass.
Evidently, I am absolutely fuming. The tickets are now gone, I am back to square one, and arguably in worse shape due to the emotional trauma i have just gone through. Anybody else going through this or is payment working just fine for everybody else?

Introduction
During the development of our card game Conflux we wanted to have an easy way to create various abilities for our cards with different effects and at the same time wanted to write smaller amount of code per ability. Also we wanted try and add a simple modding capability for abilities.Format we introduced
Some of you may be familiar with MoonSharp LUA interpreter for C#, often use in Unity engine to add scripting support to your game. That's what we took as a base for writing the code for abilities. Each ability can subscribe to different events such as whenever a card takes damage, is placed on the field or ability is used manually on some specific targets. Besides having event handlers we needed a way to specify some metadata like mana cost of abilities, cooldown, icon, etc. and in the first iteration of the system we had a pair of JSON metadata file and LUA code file.It was fine initially but we quickly realized that abilities typically have ~20 lines of JSON and ~20 lines of LUA code and that having two files per ability is wasteful so we developed a simple format which combines both the JSON and LUA.
Since LUA code could never really be a valid JSON (unless you are ok with slapping all the code into a single line or is ok with escaping all the quotes you have) we put the JSON part of the abilities into the LUA script. First LUA block comment section within the script is considered as a JSON header.
Here is an example of "Bash" ability in LUA (does damage and locks the target cards):

It may be a completely valid desire to have a way to reuse the code of some abilities and just make some small adjustments. We solved this desire by having a merge function for JSON header data which will look for a parent field within the header and will look for the data based on the ID provided in this parent field. All the data found is then merged with the data provide in the rest of the current JSON header. It also does it recursively, but I don't foresee actually using this functionality as typically we just have a generic ability written and then the inherited ability just replaces all it needs to replace.Here is an example on how a simple damaging ability can be defined:

Since all the logic of abilities is usually within the event handlers then no actual change happens during the execution of those LUA scripts (just info about subscriptions is added). If the new ability you write needs to actually modify the code of the parent then you can just unsubscribe from the events you know you want to modify and then rewrite the handler yourself.
MoonSharp in practice
MoonSharp as a LUA interpreter works perfectly fine IMO. No performance issues or bugs with the LUA code execution as far as I see.The problems for us started when trying to use VS code debugging. As in it straight up does not work for us. To make it behave we had to do quite a few adjustments including:
- Create a new breakpoint storage mechanism because existing one does not trigger breakpoints
- Add customizable exception handler for when the exception occurs within the C# API. By default you just get a whole load of nothing and your script just dies. We added a logging and automatic breakpoint mechanism (which is supposed to be there but just does not work)
- Proper local/global variables browser. Existing one just displayed (table: 000012) instead of letting you browse variables like a normal human being.
- Passthrough of Unity logs to VS code during debugging. This one worked out of the box for the most part when errors were within the LUA code, but anything that happens in our C# API is only visible in Unity console (or Player.log) and when breakpoint is triggered good luck actually seeing that log with Unity screen frozen and logs not flushed yet (can flush the logs in this case I guess too?)
What is missing
While we are mostly satisfied with the results the current implementation there are a couple things worth pointing out as something that can be worked on:- When you are done writing the ability you can't really know if the code you wrote is valid or if the data within the JSON header is valid. Linters within VS code I tried either complain about LUA code when highlighting JSON or ignore JSON when highlighting LUA code
- Good luck killing infinite loop within the LUA code (though same is true for C#). Execution limit needs to be implemented to avoid that problem, better to have invalid game state then having to kill the process.
- By placing the metadata of the abilities within the same code file you lock yourself out of the opportunity to have a unified place to store all your ability metadata (e.g. having a large data sheet with all the values visible to be able to sort through it and find inconsistencies). This can be addressed by having a converter from those LUA files to say CSV file or having a dedicated data browser within the game
TL;DR
Adding JSON as a header to LUA has following pros and cons compared to just writing C# code per ability:Pros:
- Can hot-swap code with adjustments for faster iteration
- No compilation required, all the scripts can be initialized during the scene loading process
- Can evaluate the same code an ability would use within a console for testing
- Allows abilities to be modded into the game with lower possibility of malicious code (as long as exposed API is safe)
- Requires compatibility layer between C# and LUA (you will still have to write API in C# to reduce the code bloat, but there is an extra layer that you need to write to pass this API to LUA)
- MoonSharp VS code debugging is buggier than using VisualStudio debugger for C#
- Doesn't really reduce the number of lines of code you need to manage. While you avoid boilerplate code, with smart management of this boilerplate code you can reduce it down to just a good base class implementation for your abilities with almost no overhead
