Genshin naku weed location
Am I out of touch? Overgrown lawn weeding costs...
2023.05.30 22:02 greentea45 Am I out of touch? Overgrown lawn weeding costs...
So I have a 3000 sqft (approx lawn) at an investment property in central CA. The weeds have gotten pretty overgrown so I was looking for someone to mow them.
Usually I just mow myself, but I've been pretty busy lately... And allergies...
Anyway, I sent a few quotes on Yelp to "landscaping services". Not many replies, but 1 guy comes to the location and tells me $1000?!.
I would have expected something like a quarter of that price... It seems like it'd be a 3 hr max job to me (just run it over with a lawnmower and blow away the weeds, nothing fancy).
Am I just out of touch with prices, or am I approaching this wrong?

2023.05.30 21:42 delmarman 2022 started it and 2023 has been the worst year of my life. It's all declining & I don't see a way out
I've struggled with depression all my life yadda yadda.
Getting Covid, missing a vacation (that the rest of my family went on), and the loss of my uncle last November to cancer.
At the same time realizing that I am unfortunately not cisgendered, it's impossible to deny that at the least I am nonbinary if not trans. Was already part of the LGBTQ+ community in being gay and now I get to struggle with even more confusion.
I start taking zoloft at around this time. My father and brother both take it and have had some success.
Working through all of that. December go spend Christmas with my partner's family in a different state & immediately fall ill to a stomach parasite, giardiasis. A stomach parasite which I had years ago in college, and having it before made me more susceptible. No idea where it came from but I got it.
I get the pleasure of shitting myself multiple nights in a row during Christmas time along with some vomiting here and there. Near the end of the vacation my entire partner's family knows how sick I am & about literally everything I've gone through.
Return to work in January after securing a new rental house with my partner and cousin. Never did like my job in tax and it became much more demanding as it was my second year. I struggle with my work I struggle with everything.
My partner and I fought multiple times over the past few months and were both exhibiting toxic traits. We love eachother so much but I am so, so bad at understanding myself and the moment something goes wrong I always want to bury my head in the sand.
I had always smoked weed recreationally but my consumption goes way up in January and beyond. My work was fortunately hybrid remote - we started receiving many more hires and the office was full many days. Sometimes I didn't have a choice but to work from home. I hated my job so much and any work for it made me miserable. I take a lung-busting dab to make it more tolerable for me. Rinse repeat.
It's not hard for me to WFH 3 out of 5 days. On the days I go into work you best believe I am starting the day with a dab, showering, and then taking another dab before I drive in to work. And you know the first thing I would go to when I got home from work.
After a few disciplinary calls due to poor work performance I get fired somewhat unexpectedly on May 9th. I never did see a future for my job, could never be fucked to do anything more than the bare minimum required to do the job. There goes my first job out of college, my "career", my 74k a year paying job with all those nice benefits I'll never have again.
Since then I've been trying to figure out what the fuck I'm doing. I was happier at first because I really hated my job. But I have no ambition or passion for much of anything.
My mom tried to offer me another accounting style job at her school which I initially was interested in. But I talked about it with my partner and he gave the perspective of - when shit hits the fan and you have to make a decision and pick yourself up, do you work and grow or take a handout? I was told by my therapist that him thinking this way is a growth mindset. Anyways I poorly told my mom I didn't want to do it after essentially psyching her out and being flippy floppy as I always am. She's not happy with it and I feel a distance to my family right now.
My partner and I are doing better. He's going to therapy too finally, I've been at it for years although it may be hard to believe and finally he's on it too. He's in a good spot right now but I don't think he knows that I still feel this way.
The people nearby don't listen to me much anymore. I talk a lot, I always have had a lot of words and a brain that is overactive perhaps. I can talk a lot and I get that it drowns others out so I'll be quiet. A lot of the times the things I talk about aren't interesting to people anyways, and I often lose the fight in trying to be heard in any conversation. The voice that is always missed and not heard is mine, it feels like.
The interests I have, the things I like to talk about, the people around me don't engage in it as much anymore as they're growing tired. My tendency to ask questions and want to talk about things, and sure sometimes I'm not perfect. My partner told me that this housemate said they're not going to respond to me when I ask questions like that anymore. So I'll just keep my mouth shut.
The games and interests I try to spread and suggest to others, no real interest or desire. I voice myself when we try to find things to do or suggest ideas when we want things to do and they don't seem appealing to others. I'm just going to keep my mouth shut.
I've told everyone about my pronouns, about not wanting to identify as a man anymore or be referred to as one. And it still happens all the time in my home. Good man, are you a man?
It just really feels like nothing wants me to be here. I can't kill myself though I don't have the courage. I have a bunch of hydromorphone from a tonsillectomy last year. I could down that whole bottle and I just know it would do me in. And what stops me is the inevitable pain and the fact that I probably would regret it, statistically most people do. I tried one hydomorphone pill for ??? reason recently and it gave me stomach pains.
So if I really did want to end it all, which I probably don't, it would need to be a gun. Immediate. I would feel horrible for those around me, so yes it probably would end in a note on my desk, me turning off all my location services. Driving into a local forest or mountain range. Hopefully that way it doesn't have to be my family or loved ones that find me, just a random unlucky stranger.
It won't happen, I don't have the courage. Sadly enough that doesn't make me feel any better. All this to be such a victim. I love being a victim as you can tell.
I don't know, I just feel like I lived my life trying really hard to be courteous, nice and notice things about others. I hate being unheard, I hate being chosen last, I hate trying to speak up in a conversation and being ran over by others who talk louder and more determinedly. I try to consider aspects of them and I'm not perfect, one of my huge issues was taking my partner for granted and I'm working on it.
I'm really trying to work and grow and am still pursuing therapy, biweekly, but I've stopped taking zoloft as of this sunday. Idk. I'm still having all these thoughts and fuck, I started taking zoloft while working at my piece of shit job. I'm tired of having to worry about when I take it, about forgetting. I'm tired about feeling naseous and worrying I'm not eating enough when I take it because it does make me throw up.
Idk at the end of the day the creeping feeling that the misery I'm in, this whole situation I'm in, is my fault. I could have worked a lot harder, I could have chosen to not take some of these occurrences personally, I could have laughed in the face of despair and worked out of it instead.
But instead I'm unemployed. I think the version of me that my surroundings want is a quieter me. One with less fantasy and imagination. One that keeps to themselves and doesn't pitch in or incite. Just sitting and being there. And idk I don't think I can be that person, but being told the way I am now is bad or wrong is just making me want to completely hide myself away like I always do.
The people in my life obviously have to walk around eggshells around me in regards to what they can say and can't say. I'm so bad at taking any critique because I get insanely defensive and view any comment as an attack. It's almost impossible for me to not want to give some form of attitude. At my worst I just suck. I take it personally when it really isn't. Wish I wasn't like that either.
Idk I'm just writing at this point. Don't worry I won't KMS. But anything you can say to help would by nice I guess
TL;DR : My life has been on a steady decline due to mistakes of my own making. I got fired from my job and have no ambition or grindset to return. It doesn't feel like the people in my life want me around and they don't respect my recent gender struggles. I'm too scared of the pain of ending my life so I just wallow and fail at the things I try to do. This has been the worst year of my life and if something horrible happened to me I would be happy it was my last.

2023.05.30 21:38 Wulfscar I finally finished the story, and am praying that "Patch 6" fixes some things.
So looking at a strictly story standpoint I loved Star Wars Jedi Survivor. The story, characters, world-building, and all of the twists and turns and overall vibe of the game was incredible! BUT I am currently unable to get 100% of the Achievements and that really annoys me for sure!
I am unable to get the "Caij Match" achievement due to >! being unable to even receive bounties from her. !< I am also unable to achieve the "Intergalactic Geographic" achievement due to the same reason >! I still need 50% of the "Haxion Brood" Tactical Guide scanned but am unable to do so sadly - as they only show up during bounties, barring the "Haxion Brood Shock Commando" which will ALSO show up during a Force Tear on Koboh and can be scanned during that activity as well. !< That bug is rather annoying to me and there is another that I have encountered as well - which in the grand scheme of things is much more minor than the achievement inhibiting one, but all the same it is worth mentioning.
This other bug is the "Phantom Plant" bug which happens within the Rooftop Garden on Koboh. I am unsure about HOW it happened but I have a theory - at least for how it happened in my game. I began to plant a seed in the Garden but then changed my mind so I exited out of the Gardening menu before BD-1 had actually physically gone over to the seed that I had "planted" to actually plant it. In doing so the game thinks I planted a seed when in fact I did not. It is taking up space as though there is a plant there - when there is not - and it is not able to be weeded - because there is in fact no plant planted at that location. The same goes for resetting the plot - it is done in vain - no change to the "Phantom Plant" fixes things.
So in summation I am patiently awaiting Patch 6 in the hopes that it rectifies one of or both - preferably both - of these bugs that I personally am experiencing in the game. So here's hoping that Patch 6 doesn't take too much longer to be released.
Godspeed, and happy adventuring Jedi!

2023.05.30 20:14 catistix I fear for my safety walking home from work at night
So I am going to a concert for my favorite band (and my special interest as I have autism) finally in June. My dad got me the ticket last year as an early Christmas gift at my request as I am poor, I was meant to go see them in October but I had to skip it because I just could not afford the travel and it was insanely disappointing as they aren’t a US band and they don’t come here often. So I made sure to get the plane ticket and hotel reservation earlier and I have those booked, and I saved money I got for Christmas.
Unfortunately my ex roommate refused to pay rent for 2’months because she went to another country and despite her being on the lease and her room being full of her stuff (so I couldn’t rent it out) she would not pay. So I had to use all my savings and my grocery money to pay for her half as I am extremely poor.
So now I have about $100 for an entire trip and the Ubers are expensive and I won’t even be able to get merch which I was so excited for, and it means for the next week I cannot Uber home and I have to walk even at 11pm, about a 50 minute walk. Last night I did it and I got shouted at and followed by a strange man who was saying “I know you hear me!” and some obscenities. I genuinely felt unsafe and texted my partner my location.
I have to do that the rest of the week, and tomorrow my GM is the one closing wiu me and he normally keeps us until 12-1 am and I’m just so scared. If I Uber I straight up cannot go to the concert and not to be dramatic, but I would 100% end my life. I’m already on my last straw, I haven’t eaten in 4 days because I can’t afford it and I just experienced actual transphobia from a coworker (being dealt with) on top of it. I’m just coming up to my breaking point and on top of this, I have to work 10 days in a row, I’m on day 4 and my body is so sore from all the walking I’ve been doing and I’m also on a tolerance break from weed so I can’t even relax. I’m miserable. The show will be worth it but it’s doing to be so stressful cutting it close with that little money.

2023.05.30 16:26 Stunning_Ad691 McGill CS or Western CS + Ivey?
For someone wanting to work in non-technical/management positions within tech and is not very interested in SWE, which option makes more sense in terms of employability?
If I end up going to McGill, I'll definitely do an MBA after, which takes the same time as completing Western cs+Ivey anyway and I'll have a masters degree by the end of it, in the same time period. I know MBA holds more weight than a BBA, so this is promising.
If I end up going with Western, I can live at home as well, but McGill tuition + res costs the same as Western tuition and no res, because Western is so much more expensive anyway.
I really only have a $3000 entrance Western Scholarship and no scholarship from McGill.
I've heard McGill doesn't really care about employability or student's careers and have a LOT of theoretical classes with no practical learning and involve actually implementing the theory learned through building, but I've also learned that Western's CS program is worse than subpar, and also only has theoretical classes with no practical learning, and overall really isn't prioritized.
In terms of location, Montreal seems so much more appealing than London, but that's just personal preference.
I've also heard that McGill's CS program is VERY hard and weeds out a lot of people, and has an overall low GPA. If this is the case, counting on an MBA may not be smart. I'm not sure if this also applies to Western, but if so, I can't count on maintaining my Ivey status as well since it's not guaranteed.
Western does have far more clubs with so many niches whereas McGill has very little vague ones.
Overall, I just want to prioritize the program that will give me the most opportunities to pursue my career goals and intern opportunities with stronger connections with tech and business. Thoughts?

2023.05.30 15:29 Ecstatic_Stoner AITA for smoking weed near strangers and telling them to mind their own business?
I know a cool spot where I smoke weed near a stream with plenty of trees and plants. Usually, there's nobody around except for a few people sometimes. This morning, as I went there, I noticed a couple who were both smoking cigarettes and engaged in conversation about 10 meters away from my usual spot. I settled in my regular spot, enjoying the nature as I was dipping my feet ankle-deep in the stream. I proceeded to light my joint and indulge in the pleasantness of nature.
Suddenly, the couple approached me, and the guy insisted I leave. He expressed concerns about rampant addicts who he claimed were wandering around, attempting to steal, rob, or sexually harass others. His insinuation was that by referring to addicts, he was including me due to my joint smoking. Additionally, he stated that the smell of my joint frightened his girlfriend, and they desired peace without having to inhale the scent of dangerous weed.
In response, I pointed out that they were already smoking cigarettes, and the mere hint of my weed from that distance wouldn't pose a threat to them. It was surprising how they could smell my weed from such a far distance. I suggested they should focus on their own affairs and, if they didn't want to encounter the smell, they could relocate instead. I would've moved if they asked nicely. But since the guy was rude, I relit my joint right in front of them.
Consequently, the guy called me an asshole and departed with his girlfriend, cautioning her about the perceived lack of safety in that location.
Edit: In my country, weed is decriminalized, but public smoking, whether it's weed or tobacco, is not allowed. However, I'm uncertain if secluded areas without anyone present would still be classified as public spaces. It is not a designated park or similar area; rather, it's a natural space.

2023.05.30 15:26 Chawkean Rush to cannabis clubs
In April, Health Minister Lauterbach presented his key points paper on the legalization of cannabis. Since then, the number of members of cannabis clubs has been rising rapidly. And now? "Our membership numbers have exploded. On the first day after the publication of the cornerstone paper, we had 70 inquiries from new members," Julen Merino tells us.
He is the association chairman of the Cannabis Social Club (CSC) Stuttgart. Abroad - for example in Spain or Uruguay - people organize themselves in CSCs to grow cannabis for their own use. In Germany, this is not yet legal. The Stuttgart club has therefore so far organized demonstrations and campaigned for the legalization of cannabis.
Until April, the club still had around 50 members. But since it became known that the clubs are to play a decisive role in the legalization of cannabis, nothing has been the same. Every day, new membership applications arrive - and even from all over Germany, Merino says.
"Most of them come from the Stuttgart region, but some of them are people from Bavaria or Leipzig. And there's everything in the age groups, too."
Central element of legalization
The interest in the clubs is enormous, and not without reason. According to the plans of German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach, the clubs will be allowed to legally grow cannabis and distribute it to their members in the future: a maximum of 25 grams per day and a total of 50 grams per month. At the same time, however, the number of members is to be limited to 500. And there are not yet that many clubs in Germany. So the pressure is on to secure a place even before legalization.
Demand is huge, but can cannabis social clubs even meet it? Merino has his doubts about that:
"Nationwide supply through CSCs won't work. Membership is limited to 500 and the requirements for new clubs are simply too strict."
The current plans will not dry up the black market for cannabis, he says.
Stretched cannabis
Combating the black market and protecting health are among the most important arguments for legalization. This is because the products on offer have changed massively in recent years, says Franziska Maubach from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tübingen:
"Stretched and heavily contaminated cannabis in particular - it can contain glass splinters, hairspray and herbs, for example - is simply dangerous for the consumer."
In addition, the potency of black-market cannabis has increased massively in recent years - with incalculable risks for the health of consumers, he said.
To curb the dangerous black market, the cannabis social clubs are definitely a good solution, says Maubach. However, the price of legal cannabis should not be higher, he says.
"But it's also about easy access to legal cannabis. The lower the threshold, the more likely the black market can be suppressed."
That's why she calls for state-regulated specialty stores to sell cannabis in the future. Otherwise, the legal supply could hardly cover the demand on the market.
Model tests under scientific supervision
Julen Merino from the Cannabis Social Club Stuttgart would also like to see state-regulated stores and comprehensive legalization:
"The weed on the street is contaminated and the money goes into the black market. That can't be the solution!"
However, Lauterbach's key issues paper only envisages the specialty stores as model trials under scientific supervision. Regular distribution via specialty stores would be contrary to international and EU law.
And so, for the time being, the Cannabis Social Club in Stuttgart is only planning self-cultivation for its members. Together with the city administration and the police, they are currently looking for a suitable location. Not so easy - because the cultivation and distribution should not take place near schools, kindergartens and playgrounds.

2023.05.30 14:35 giligarden How To Grow Chinese Eggplant
Select a sunny location: Chinese eggplants thrive in full sun, so choose a spot in your garden that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day.
Prepare the soil: Ensure the soil is well-draining and enriched with organic matter. Chinese eggplants prefer slightly acidic soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0.
Use raised beds or containers: If you have limited space or poor soil conditions, consider growing Chinese eggplants in raised beds or containers filled with high-quality potting mix.
Provide support: Chinese eggplants tend to have heavy fruit, so using stakes or trellises to support the plants will prevent them from bending or breaking under the weight.
Water consistently: Keep the soil evenly moist, providing regular watering, especially during dry spells. Avoid overwatering to prevent waterlogged conditions.
Mulch the soil: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the plants to conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain a more stable soil temperature.
Fertilize regularly: Feed your Chinese eggplants with organic fertilizers, such as compost or well-rotted manure, to provide them with essential nutrients throughout the growing season.
Prune for better growth: Remove any damaged or diseased leaves to promote airflow and prevent the spread of diseases. Pruning can also help redirect energy to fruit production.
Watch out for pests: Keep a lookout for common garden pests like aphids, flea beetles, and spider mites. Use organic pest control methods or natural predators to manage infestations.
Monitor for diseases: Chinese eggplants can be susceptible to diseases like fungal infections or bacterial wilt. Practice good sanitation, rotate crops, and choose disease-resistant varieties.
Harvest at the right time: Chinese eggplants are typically ready for harvest when they reach their mature size and have a glossy appearance. Use a sharp knife or pruners to cut the fruits from the plant.
Enjoy various cooking methods: Chinese eggplants are versatile in the kitchen. Experiment with stir-frying, grilling, roasting, or adding them to soups and stews for delightful culinary creations.
Store properly: Store harvested Chinese eggplants in a cool, dry place or in the refrigerator to maintain their freshness and flavor for a longer period.
Reflect and refine: Take notes throughout the growing season, noting what worked well and what could be improved. Use this information to refine your techniques and make each year's Chinese eggplant harvest even better.

2023.05.30 13:49 giligarden From Seed to Harvest: Everything You Need to Know About Growing Beans
Ready to embark on a bean-tastic organic gardening adventure? Chappy the Gardener is here to add a dash of humor and a heap of helpful tips to your journey. Get ready to laugh, learn, and grow some amazing beans. Let's dig in!
Start with quality seeds: Choose certified organic bean seeds from reputable sources to ensure healthy and vigorous plants.
Prepare the soil: Beans prefer well-draining soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. Add compost or aged manure to enrich the soil and improve its fertility.
Planting depth and spacing: Plant the beans at a depth of about 1 to 2 inches, and space them 4 to 6 inches apart. This allows them enough room to grow and prevents overcrowding.
Provide support: Many bean varieties benefit from trellises or stakes for vertical growth. This helps maximize space and prevents the plants from sprawling on the ground.
Watering: Beans require consistent moisture, especially during flowering and pod formation. Water deeply and regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
Mulch to conserve moisture: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the plants to retain soil moisture, suppress weed growth, and maintain a more stable soil temperature.
Companion planting: Interplant beans with crops like corn or cucumbers, which provide natural shade and support for the bean plants. Avoid planting beans near onions or garlic, as they may inhibit bean growth.
Organic pest control: Use natural methods like handpicking pests, introducing beneficial insects like ladybugs or lacewings, and spraying organic insecticidal soap to control pests like aphids or bean beetles.
Nitrogen fixation: Beans are known for their ability to fix nitrogen in the soil through their symbiotic relationship with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilization, as it may hinder this process.
Crop rotation: Rotate bean crops yearly to prevent soil-borne diseases and pests. Avoid planting beans in the same location for consecutive years.
Harvesting at the right time: Harvest the beans when they are young and tender, usually around 50 to 60 days after planting. Regularly harvest mature beans to encourage continuous production.
Proper storage: Store harvested beans in a cool, dry place to maintain their quality. Avoid exposure to sunlight, as it can cause them to lose color and flavor.
Chappy's tip: Soak the bean seeds overnight before planting to speed up germination and promote healthy growth. This softens the seed coat and enhances moisture absorption.
Organic fertilizers: Use organic fertilizers like compost, well-rotted manure, or fish emulsion to provide essential nutrients to the plants. Apply them according to package instructions or consult a gardening expert.
Enjoy the harvest: Once you've nurtured your bean plants, savor the satisfaction of picking fresh, organic beans from your garden. Share your harvest with friends and family, or explore delicious bean recipes to fully appreciate your homegrown bounty.
Remember, gardening is an adventure, so have fun, get your hands dirty, and let the beans take you on a flavorful journey! Happy bean growing!

2023.05.30 13:35 giligarden How to Germinate Beans Seeds
Here are 12 tips to help you successfully germinate beans:
Choose Quality Seeds: Start with high-quality bean seeds from a reputable source. Look for organic, non-GMO varieties for the best results.
Pre-Soak the Seeds: To speed up germination, pre-soak the bean seeds in water overnight or for at least 6-8 hours before planting.
Select the Right Planting Location: Beans thrive in a sunny spot with well-draining soil. Choose a location in your garden that receives at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight each day.
Prepare the Soil: Ensure the soil is loose, well-draining, and rich in organic matter. Remove any rocks or debris and amend the soil with compost if needed.
Plant at the Right Time: Wait until after the last frost date in your area to plant beans. They prefer soil temperatures around 60-70°F (15-21°C) for optimal germination.
Planting Depth: Plant the beans at a depth of about 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) into the soil. Space them according to the recommended spacing for the specific variety you're planting.
Water Consistently: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Water the beans regularly, especially during dry periods, to ensure proper germination and seedling growth.
Provide Support: If you're growing climbing or vining bean varieties, provide them with trellises, stakes, or a supportive structure for the plants to climb as they grow.
Mulch to Retain Moisture: Apply a layer of organic mulch around the base of the bean plants to conserve soil moisture, suppress weeds, and maintain consistent soil temperature.
Avoid Overwatering: While it's important to keep the soil consistently moist, avoid overwatering as it can lead to rotting of the seeds or damping-off of the seedlings.
Protect from Frost: If there's a risk of late spring or early fall frosts, cover the young bean plants with row covers or cloths to protect them and promote germination.
Be Patient: Beans usually germinate within 7-14 days, but some varieties may take longer. Be patient and avoid disturbing the soil or the emerging seedlings.
By following these tips, you'll increase your chances of successful bean germination and enjoy a bountiful harvest of delicious and nutritious beans.

2023.05.30 13:34 giligarden How to Germinate Beans Seeds

2023.05.30 11:26 kjleebio project ultimacene drug parasite worm one of the ███████ creatures made by the nature company
During the two decades of healing the brothers specifically brother Bernado who was in charge of looking over Mexico and the rest of South America, was dealing with the Cartels in order to wipe their influence forever. One of the ways Bernado eliminated the Cartels was by targeting the very crops themselves. So the nature company using, the technology Turpis, decided to create a genetically altered creature that can eat all of the drug crops to endangerment. Using dna structures of hornworm, cutworm, root maggots, ███████, ███████, and ███████. This created a white looking worm which size is similar to a small earth worm with small legs and a mandible that would eat everything that is related to addictive drug plants. They reproduce quickly, even reproducing asexually. When there is no other plants to eat, they all die off. They don't affect other plants and in fact can be juicy morsels for animals like birds.
They were a success, thousands of eggs spread across plantations via agents of the CDA(Cartel, Disrupter, Agency) in which entire plantations of cocaine, weed, mariuana, and more were destroyed. In fact they were too successful to the point where all of the drug plants became endangered.
The drug parasite worm is one of the many reasons of the downfall of the American cartels by Bernado and these worms would be used in other areas as well until it didn't become a major problem anymore. There are no live specimens but there are some in vials located at the Falkland island nature company base in sector ███████.
criticism and questions are welcomed.

2023.05.30 07:18 Sarsimms09 Lead in soil of a newer home
I live in a home built in 2010. The home is located in a suburban area.
The home built in 2010 was built by demolishing a home built in 1941 and building this new home in its place (I'm not the original owner of the 2010 home, but I can see what happened from tax records).
I realize there's no lead paint in my 2010 home, but I'm wondering about lead in the soil from when the 1941 home was demolished in 2010 to build the new home.
Specifically, we have flower beds around the perimeter of the house (where we grow shrubs and flowering plants). I've started taking my 5 year old to help me weed the flower beds (by this I mean pulling out weeds and placing them into a lawn trash bag). She obviously gets down in the dirt to do this. Should I test the soil (are the home tests reliable?)? Is this a real risk for lead poisoning?

2023.05.30 06:21 rdk67 Spring Day 70: Memorial Day Weekend
I was raised to be religiously devout but without spiritual purpose, so memorial day weekend meant two things: watching auto racing live on TV and tidying up family graves. The graves of my grandparents are located in two cemeteries on opposite ends of the county they lived their whole lives in, and cleaning the graves required a little planning plus a trip to the florist. Dad would handle weeding around the plots, while mom scrubbed the gravestones, running a wet sponge along each of the engraved letters and numbers, such that the names and dates gleamed from the face of the stone. My job was to hold the flowers, and though I can’t recall where the debate landed regarding artificial or fresh, the holiday gained stature with so many flowers in hand, like everyone was headed to the cemetery to get married. With remembering, I guess.
The only grandpa I knew – my dad’s dad – was a lifelong farmer, and the only grandma I knew – my mom’s mom – sewed gloves in a factory her whole life. Though I only remember seeing the two of them together at weddings, they were both stoical Midwesterners who could listen to others talk for hours while saying very little themselves. My grandpa always wore bib overalls and a railroad engineer’s cap, and my grandma always wore housedresses and flats. My most vivid memory of my grandpa has him hand pumping water out of a well and into a tin cup. My most vivid memory of my grandma has her cutting potatoes into a pan of boiling water. How were they different? Grandma Alice smoked menthol cigarettes, and Grandpa Fred spread fresh manure on his fields. If memory is often scent-based, I offer these ones up to this memorial day.
On this memorial day, I remember Brian and Greg – two souls who were made into activists by life, then death, then life again. Both survived decades in prison, years in solitary confinement, and then, upon release, both worked full time to stop such treatment of others still incarcerated by developing a public advocacy and legal expertise through a nonprofit public law clinic. They were advocates for incarcerated individuals throughout the state, effective because they had an extreme kind of survivor’s authority. They were open about the trauma they endured, and their accounts of the torturous conditions of state-run facilities left audiences stunned. They died within a year of one another, each having taken his own life, and my insides want to spill out in response to such horror unrelenting. May Brian and Greg know a painless and eternal peace.

| I know a weed is anything where it shouldn’t be or whatever the saying is, but what is this weed? The flower is pretty, so I’m not sure I want to pull it. 2023.05.30 02:58 REOMeadFlagon Hinge - 1 Month Summary for an Average Guy
Seeing as how it isn’t always the case with posts on here (especially for average guys like me), I thought I’d share my most recent experience with OLD as it was largely positive.
I’m located in a more rural state with roughly a 60k city population, and around 80-100k in a 100 mile radius. It’s mostly made up of older farmers/ranchers and retirees though the young professional scene seems to be growing.
After 1 month here’s the results: Likes 21, Matches 12, Unmatched (by them) 2, Unmatched (by me) 4, Conversations 9, Multi Day Conversations 4, Weeklong Conversations 1, In Person Dates 0, Second Dates 0, Third Dates 0, Relationships 0
I’ve been on/off and very much love/hate with dating apps for the past 5ish years, though it did result in one great relationship that ended in a mutual split for reasons beyond our control.
Over the past year I wanted to focus on meeting women organically or through friends. It’s actually been going pretty well! I’ve been asking better questions, been more engaging and noticed an overall improvement in my social skills, though nothing has stuck.
So I summoned the beast once again and decided to get back on hinge about a month ago. This time though, I adhered to a clear method since I’ve been down nearly every disappointing road I see posted about on here constantly. My method was: Hinge would NOT serve as my primary (or even secondary) method for putting myself out there. It’d act as a small supplement to the other real life avenues I’d carved out. I also made a point to send every like with a personal message about something that caught my interest on their profile; and I only liked fully filled out profiles with decent pictures and prompt answers largely devoid of any minimal effort quips. I also promised myself to avoid getting as attached to matches (at least in the short term) since ghosting, slow fading, flakiness, dead end conversations etc. are the status quo in OLD. I figured I’d trade a few interesting messages with people but that’d likely be all, and I’d accepted that as a fact.
The rest is more about how I wove my personality/lifestyle into my profile, scroll to the bottom if you want the TL/DR.
I included flattering (but NOT filtered, or otherwise misleading) pictures with one nice clear face shot at the start, a short video, a voice prompt, a mix of full body looks and other shots of me participating in various activities/events over the last few years. I also did my best to breathe my voice into the prompts. I stayed FAAAR away from any cliched answers and ruthlessly edited them until they read clear and concise with a smooth flow. This probably took the most work. I really wanted women to know I’m not doing the bare minimum, but that I also don’t take myself too seriously. I did, however include a section about how important clear communication and initiative is to me as that’s been a recurring issue in nearly all my past matches.
About me: 30 male, 6’1”, 205 lb, caucasian, straight, monogamous, never been married, want a long term relationship, never had kids but want kids, stable full time job in construction management. I chose not to include my political leanings because none of the options accurately described my stances plus I believe I’m compatible with a wide range of viewpoints. Im not really religious though Christianity is probably the closest fit. Given that, I didn’t think it was worth putting on my profile either. I keep in decent shape but I’m a little fluffy in a few areas, though it’s not immediately noticeable with a shirt on. I’m by no means a head turner but I’d like to think I’m above average in looks. I take care of myself and thus would consider my looks slightly above average, though not because I hit the genetic lottery. My hairline is starting to recede and it’s turning grey in a few spots but near as I can tell it’s not a significant draw back to my appearance and I try to always maintain a baseline of personal hygiene. I have a college degree and I live with roommates. I like the occasional drink, not really into drugs or weed and definitely not tobacco or smoking. I also don’t have any pets.
Given the method I approached OLD with this go round I’d say the experience has been very positive so far! I’m happy I’ve had the pleasure of trading a few insightful messages with some awesome people (one woman even turned me on to a new band that I’ve been obsessing over lately). I’ll continue trying to meet people in real life and it will consume the majority of my focus going forward. But, much to my surprise, the experience has been great this go round.
TL/DR: I got back on Hinge. Put some honest effort into my profile and how I went about liking/matching. Went into it with little/no expectations and remained unattached to matches in the short term. Ended up having a positive experience even though I’m very “average” in nearly every sense of the word.

2023.05.30 01:49 Htown_Flyer Tutorial: ITA Matrix search for “Where can I fly to on Frontier, tomorrow?”
| Summary With the upcoming day-before booking requirements for Go Wild flights, it will become increasingly important to have an efficient way to search for all available non-stop and connecting flights on Frontier leaving from a home airport (or wherever you happen to be). Something like this sure would be handy… Flights leaving Houston on Frontier 5/30/23, minus overnight flights This post explains how to navigate the powerful ITA Matrix flight search tool for the result above. This table will be very useful to me because I now have a tailored list of city pairs I can then use on the Frontier site to look for bookable Go Wild fares, at a much-reduced search time of about one minute times X city pairs. Give a try and let me know what you think. I would especially love to hear any ideas for further refining an ITA Matrix search for various purposes related to using the Go Wild Pass. …And if anyone can figure out a ticket / fare code filter that displays only flights bookable with the Go Wild Pass, I just might fly to your city and buy you dinner. 😊 My Path to ITA Matrix For many of us, Google Flights is our preferred flight screening tool versus tedious airport-by-airport searches on the Frontier booking tool. For example, using Google Flights: Flight type: one-way Origin: XXX Destination: “North America” for flights to the US (and PR, USVI? ) or “Caribbean” or “Mexico” Date: [tomorrow’s date] The query result is a map that is very useful if one is looking for a cheap cash flight to anywhere, but it takes several more steps to get to a display showing only Frontier flights. Once you go through those steps, clicking on individual cities will show available Frontier flights with their duration and number of stops, but seeing the flight arrival / departure times requires clicking through on each flight. Although this method is somewhat better than searching airport by airport with the Frontier booking tool, it takes a LOT more clicks to work through all the Frontier destination options to see departure, arrival and layover times displayed. It would be so much better if there was a single query to see all bookable Frontier flights for a particular day, to all destinations… I gave it a try using Google Flights. I know Flights can perform a multi-city search, so my first step was to create a list of the airport codes for all of the Frontier destination airports. It took some time and some Excel tricks, but here are the results: List of all current Frontier destination airport codes ATL, AUS, BDL, BMI, BNA, BOS, BQN, BUF, BWI, CHS, CID, CLE, CLT, CMH, CVG, DCA, DEN, DFW, DSM, DTW, ELP, FAR, FLL, FSD, GRB, GRR, HOU, IAH, IND, ISP, JAX, LAS, LGA, LIT, MCI, MCO, MDT, MDW, MEM, MIA, MKE, MSN, MSO, MSP, MSY, MYR, OAK, OKC, OMA, ONT, ORD, ORF, PBI, PDX, PHL, PHX, PIT, PNS, PSE, PWM, RDU, RSW, SAN, SAT, SAV, SEA, SFO, SJU, SLC, SMF, SNA, SRQ, STL, STT, SWF, SYR, TPA, TTN, TYS, XNA (as of 5/29/23, source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\of_Frontier_Airlines_destinations) ) I tried to use that list pasted as my destination in a Flights query. It didn’t work: “No matching locations found”. Unfortunately, the Flights’ destination field interface for multiple cities forces the user to enter in cities individually. However… In responding to a post here yesterday, I was reminded of the somewhat obscure search tool that is the father of Google Flights: ITA Matrix. (In July 2010, Google announced the acquisition of ITA for $700 million in cash, subject to DOJ review and approval. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITA\Software) ) So my project for today was to see if I could create a useful Frontier query on ITA Matrix. I really like the results. How I Did It There are two ITA Matrix user interfaces available: The latest one – V5: https://matrix.itasoftware.com/ The original – V3.0: https://oldmatrix.itasoftware.com/ Newbies might do better with the current version. The original is less refined and it relies on codes to a greater degree. It is therefore tougher to learn, but it is more powerful. (It has some really cool tricks like entering a code to filter a query for a particular connecting airport, useful for hidden city ticket searches.) Although I am rusty, I have some experience using the codes required to navigate the older version. So I went old school with the following test query: Tab: one-way Departing from: DEN Destination: cut-and-paste the Frontier destination code list above, in its entirety Departure date: tomorrow’s date [or any other date you are interested in] The test worked! The search results showed hundreds of presumably bookable flight combinations leaving Denver tomorrow. They are displayed in a bar chart format that allows at-a-glance comparison of the flights, including arrival / dep times, layover city, and other valuable information. However, the results included flights on all airlines (except Southwest?). Next, I did a more personalized search for flights departing from the two Frontier airports that are less than an hour’s drive from my house. To limit the results to only Frontier, I added one of the available filter codes: Tab: one-way Departing from: IAH, HOU Destination: the list above in its entirety Departure date: tomorrow Advanced controls / Extension Codes: AIRLINES F9 Result: about 100 Frontier flights were displayed. Very promising... The results are sorted by price, which isn’t relevant to a GWP search. I re-sorted the list using the To-From / Sort by Destination button. Result: I could more easily see my destination options: a total of perhaps 150 flights and 30 cities bookable from at least one of the two origin airports. Fantastic! …but… My city is mostly an “evening departures” city for Frontier. As I expected, a large majority of the 100+ flights involved the dreaded overnight layover. I then used the Advisory / Overnight Flights filter button to weed out those flights. The results screen is posted above, after I used the Departure button to sort by departure time instead of price. I think this is a very fast, easy and useful method. After entering in five pieces of data and using one filter and one sort on the results, in a couple of minutes I now have a visual schedule of multiple Frontier flights I can review, with reasonable confidence that they are bookable for a cash fare. And there is more data not seen in seen in my screenshot: segment-specific departure time, arrival time and duration data for each flight segment can be displayed in a pop-up, using your cursor. Not only that, but without changing screens I can analyze the display and see the following at a glance: · There are four non-stop flights departing Houston tomorrow, to three cities: ATL from IAH at 5:40p, HOU-DEN at 7:10, IAH-LAS at 7:48 and IAH-DEN at 9:34. · Only one flight – the non-stop to Atlanta - would allow me to be in bed at the destination before 11pm. No surprise…Houston is an afternoon / evening city for Frontier. · The last flight on the list, a late evening IAH-DEN non-stop flight arriving at 11:18 pm, has no available connections because I filtered out overnight connections. · The slightly earlier IAH-LAS flight at 7:18 pm shows a horrendous but bookable connection to DEN. Obviously, I would much prefer the above non-stop leaving two hours later and arriving in DEN 5 hours earlier. · The earliest non-stop flight, to ATL at 5:40 pm, has several available connecting flights, all arriving before midnight local time: MCO, TTN, FLL, BWI and MDW. Of those, I would eliminate TTN from consideration. Even if it is bookable, I am not willing to risk a 45 minute connection time with Frontier. The others look good. · The next-earliest non-stop flight, HOU-DEN at 7:10 pm, offers connections to the following west coast destinations, arriving between 11:13p and 12:14a local time: SLC, LAS, ONT, PDX, SAN and SFO. Cool choices. I might consider any of those, particularly if I can locate a cheap hotel with an airport shuttle or a viable, safe walking path late-night transit connection from the airport to a hotel. · The HOU-DEN-MCO flight in that same group is not very attractive because there is a much shorter duration IAH-ATL-MCO flight leaving an hour and a half earlier. But I might consider it because a redeye flight would avoid a paid hotel night at my final destination. I am very pleased with my rediscovery of ITA Matrix. Building a Frontier-specific, “take me anywhere” query is piece of cake, and the results allow for very quick analysis to narrow down destination options before going to the Frontier web site to find Go Wild ticket availability. With my first one-minute query, I have identified that I can find a dozen or more reasonably attractive Frontier flights leaving my home city tomorrow and arriving at a final destination the same evening. The next step would be entering the most interesting airport-to-airport pairs as queries in the Frontier booking engine to see which flights have Go Wild ticket availability. submitted by Htown_Flyer to gowildfrontier [link] [comments] |
