So I went to a commercial casting call today for a household name shampoo. If I got the gig it would be a really big deal.
there were several panelists and 2 of them really liked my look. one of them even asked me who I thought I looked like and I said I didnt know and she said the name of a movie star (many people say this as I resemble her)
instead of being gracious and accepting the compliment I deflected it to the girl next to me by saying she looked like another famous movie star ( tbh she didnt it was the she had dark hair and pale skin - that was where the comparison ended but I was being the good polite girl uugghh!)
I literally saw the panelist faces fall and all of a sudden the atmosphere turned icy. this other girl meanwhile took it and started blabbing about how everyone says that and also that she looks like this other model too and another one when her hair is blonde etc, whilst simultaneously putting me down---- basically self promoting herself which is the correct thing to do because this is literally the business of self-promotion!
long story short, I didnt get out through but she did.
FML! I literally hate my middle class, polite self and my stupid life! All those weeks I spent in the gym getting myself physically ready but my mindset is nowhere near on par.
would really appreciate advice on how to self-promote myself and not help competitors in similar situations again.

Me and my buddy are doing a cross country road trip in the US starting next week and I’ve been studying up on bear safety a lot since we’ll be in grizzly territory for at least part of our trip (Montana is the main spot I’m ‘worried’ about)
For on the trail, we have bear spray and both watched a lecture from a biologist with an expertise in bear behavior on what to do in a bear encounter to prevent an attack and how to avoid encounters entirely. We both have bear spray as well.
Does anyone have any advice however on what to do OFF the trail? Obviously we’ll end hiking for the day at some point and set up camp, in the same territory. I know the obvious things, such as set up the 100 yard bear triangle, don’t sleep in clothes you cooked in, and don’t go to the bathroom near your sleeping area, but what else is there?
Where do we put our backpacks at night? While our food and smellables will in theory be 100 yards away in a canister, our backpacks CARRY that food and those smellables, so should we keep our backpacks WITH our bear canister? What is the proper procedure if a bear finds it way into our campsite at night? Sometimes, a trails terrain may make it very difficult to set up that 100 yard triangle without difficulty (I.e very steep terrain with only small and infrequent flat areas for camping)… what do we do when properly setting up this triangle is hard or seemingly ‘impossible’? Any other advice that we should know prior to starting?

I'm planning on selling my 2016 C300 to a local Benz dealer. They gave me a solid offer for the car and went a bit above what CarMax was offering.
Meeting the team tomorrow to go through the inspection and finalize details. One of the pieces I'm trying to understand is how does a pre-purchased maintenance plan translate to the sale? Bought it through the dealer during my last major maintenance window, and hoping I can use it as part of the negotiation.
If I were to sell the car via private party, would the maintenance plan stay with the vehicle? Or is it voided once ownership is transferred?

Earlier today I (18f) saw my brother (16m), let’s call him Jake for the sake of privacy, eating Tim Horton's despite the fact that my mother (48f) told him to lay off on the restaurant food because it is expensive and he's draining his bank account on restaurant food because he's too lazy to make his own lunches. When I told him that if he didn't lay off the restaurant food, I'd tell mom, Jake threatened to dump his Orange Crush on my hair. (He often threatens me when I don't do what he likes).
I laugh it off and go get my stuff at my locker for my next class and very discreetly text my mother about the Tim's I saw him eat. My mother softly scolded me for stooling Jake, saying that it wasn't necessary.
Come dinner time, we are sitting at the table and my mother casually tells Jake that she's heard that he went to Tim Horton's for lunch. He tried to lie as he always does, but it fails. Jake as a massive spending issue and he needs to have his expenses monitored so he doesn't become broke and have nothing to pay his tuition with so mom brings up that she saw that he bought something at the gas station (gas station is near the Tim Horton's) and he starts screeching at her which is usually a good indication that he's lying about something.
My mother calmly tells Jake that about a month or so ago, he told me that I should respect the rules even if I don't like them. Jake angrily proclaims that she just wants him to be dehydrated because heaven forbid he be called out on his spending issues and storms off.
He's still sulking in the basement and I feel like I've created more issues within the family by speaking up. So I turn to you, fair Redditors, AITA for telling my mother that Jake went to a restaurant despite being told not to?

my dads cat (moki), is gonna be staying at my moms house for about a month. her and my other cat, pepper (who lives permanently at my moms house) never really got along. it's been a few days since moki's been here and she's acting perfectly fine. however, pepper has been acting really aggressive towards not just her, but me as well. every time i try to get near her now or pet her, she begins to growl and occasionally hiss at me. for now the cats are separated but i just don't know how to calm pepper down and get her to stop attacking me and moki. please give advice!

My boss and I are not friends, but he seems to be under the illusion that we have rapport. It’s become a requirement for me to endure at least ten minutes of excruciating small talk whenever I enter his office. He has a glass door and sometimes he beckons me as I walk past for no reason other than to ask how my ‘pussycat’ is doing. It’s fucking weird. I don’t even know how he found out I have a pet, let alone it’s species, but there’s just something about how he says ‘pussycat’ that rubs me the wrong way. I mean, are adults even supposed to call them that? He once left a realistic black mouse toy INSIDE my desk drawer for me to find when I came into work. I thought it was real and screamed loud enough for the entire office to hear. It was so embarrassing and when I composed myself enough to sit down and read the note beside it he was just smiling at me from his office when I looked up. The note said ‘for the lil kitty’. JUST CALL IT A CAT. Is this harassment? It’s seriously affecting my productivity. It’s gotten to the point I’m coming in late for work and nearly jogging past his office just to get to my desk. I had some of those family stickers on my car with my husband, myself and the cat but I took them all off out of sheer paranoia. I’m afraid to open my desk drawers for fear of more surprise gifts. I asked some of my colleagues and apparently their interactions with my boss are brief and professional outside of meetings. I’m at a loss. I want to go to HR but I honestly don’t know what I would tell them.

I’m 43 and my husband is 44, married for 6 years, together for 12. We’ve been in a dead bedroom situation for about 4 years.
I had health issues for a while and we were open about everything (it was very painful for me, LL, etc.) and I thought we had our communication down but I finally got my medical issues under control and my L soared only to find his took a nosedive.
He got blue pills and we tried them exactly once but he hasn’t even wanted to try again since. I’ve attempted to initiate and nothing. He sleeps on the couch. When we’re watching tv or whatever he sits on the other end of the couch.
The reason I’m turning to strangers on the internet for help now is this weekend I made a full on attempt and was completely shot down and I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel ugly and undesirable and just so sad. I’ve approached him about therapy and he seems receptive but ends up bowing out, couples and solo. I don’t know what to do. I love him but we’re roommates.

I (16nb) have for the last few months developed feelings for my friend (15M) who I'll call AL, me and Al have been friends for around 2 years but only in the last 7 months really have we become close after finding out he lives just up the road from me so we started walking home together, then back in November I started dating this guy and then I month later I set Al up with a close friend of mine as back then I didn't have feelings for him however around end of January start of February my feelings for him started to evolve but I ignored it as the relationship I was in just felt perfect, or at least from the outside but something just felt off, then on March 31st I broke up with my BF because I knew I didn't love him in the way I feel for AL, but Als relationship continued on, and I truly want to tell him how I feel or make a move on him because although he's in a relationship to me and a few others it just seems false and toxic and that they r still together because they feel like they have too, then recently this past few days before me typing this, me, Al and two other mates went camping together and in the first night in the tent we ended up lightly "cuddling" for warms under one cover, but really it wasn't that close, however on the second night me and him decided to sleep in the porch of the tent together as the night before our other mates where snoring like mad, but back to us, as u might of guessed because its the UK, the night was cold, so he suggested that we spoon for warmth, but not a moment's later we weren't just lying near eachother with maybe an arm over or not, we where very "close" and I had my arm wrapped around his chest and he was holding onto to it and I asked if I could stroke his hair he was more than happy to let me, then in the night he would constantly move around but then around midnight-ish I felt something, he was (while completely asleep) thrusting his 🍑 into my "privets" completely unaware, and when I spoke to him about what he was doing last night in the morning he had no memory of it as he was completely asleep, and yes I may be thinking to much into this, however me and him have sought of had a "flirty thing" where I would flirt with him and who would say a rude comment or something but in a jockey way but every now and then he would directly flirt back and yesterday me and my other two mates on the camping trip where making a joke a slapping als 🍑 and for some reason I went through with it but it just left him completely unphased and just didn't care yet had a massive smile afterwards, just like the rest of us but something to me just seemed different about his although we where all laughing greatly, So I suppose what I'm asking is do u tell him or not and do u think there's a chance he might like me back although he has a boyfriend?

I'm almost 27 I don't smoke I do drink
The tooth is the 2nd tooth from the canine tooth in the top left of my mouth
I didn't have dental care growing up. I had to get my own dental insurance in my mid 20s before I could afford to see a dentist. I got recommend Aspen Dental and I've had mixed experiences.
Had a lot of fillings done, wisdom teeth extraction, and one root canal. All of the work there felt necessary and was focused on reducing pain.
Last year they did a thing where they measure the depth of your gum packets on both sides of your teeth. Most of mine are 3-4, but some 2s. My insurance will NOT cover Arestin until the pocket is 5 MM or bigger. I had to pay out of pocket for this and it nearly bankrupted me (but Aspen dental was so happy to try to get me to take out a credit card for them). I barred my teeth, paid it, and got more work done that was necessary.
About 7 months after getting my wisdom teeth extracted, I had a very mild dull achy in the top left of my jaw. Went to Aspen dental, had x-rays done, and the dentist said I had a bad cavity on a tooth there and I needed to get it done.
This tooth didn't feel anything like the tooth that needed the root canal. This tooth wasn't sensitive to hot or cold and I couldn't even pinpoint the tooth causing the generalized dull ache.
After a cleaning (in which they gave an electric toothbrush I didn't need, which I'm sure I paid for somehow), they had me scheduled up for a crown for the tooth.
I had the crown prep done 6 days ago and I felt the normal mouth soreness. They had trouble getting the crown on/off to adjust it and the hygienist did a lot of work shaving the temp crown down, the dentist himself was so booked up, he was bouncing between rooms.
Like I said, I didn't have any temperature sensitivity until they worked on that tooth. For at least 4 days now, I have been suffering a lot on that tooth that they worked on. It doesn't hurt with hot food, but anything slightly cold hurts like hell. I wasn't in this kind of pain until they worked on me.
They also signed me up for "root scaling" even though I told them 5-6 times that insurance will NOT cover it unless the gaps are 5 MM or bigger, and they keep acting like i'm crazy. I'm sorry but I don't have 1,000 or so to spend out of pocket after already spending 700 something dollars on x-rays, a dental cleaning, and a crown.
I told them to cancel my "root scaling" appointment and asked for the dentist to please call me back because of the pain I am in. The receptionist was rude and again acted like I was crazy or stupid that I didn't want to pay for this procedure my insurance won't pay for and threatened me by saying she wasn't sure if they could put a permanent crown on my tooth unless they do the scaling. Isn't this blackmail?
I'm very upset, I had a perfectly good tooth and now at night it throbs when I am trying to sleep and it's sensitive to cold.
Please help me.
Am I crazy? Did Aspen Dental mess up my teeth on purpose to turn it into a root canal to make me spend more? Is Aspen dental blackmailing me?
What can I do if they won't work on me? Can I have them send the x-rays to another dentist that isn't going to try to upcharge me out of house and home?
